Sat Nov 11 202313:40Cam Gallagher Elects Free Agency
Former Cleveland Guardians catcher Cam Gallagher has elected to become a free agent after being designated for assignment last week by the team. The Guardians claimed Christian Bethancourt off waivers from the Tampa Bay Rays last week and subsequently released Gallagher. The 30-year-old backstop slashed an ugly .126/.154/.168 with seven RBI across 143 at-bats (56 games) last season with Cleveland. He put together some solid seasons as Salvador Perez's backup in Kansas City prior to last year, however, so he should be able to sign on with another team before spring training in 2024.

Mon Sep 12 202213:42Orioles Claim Cam Gallagher Off Waivers From Padres
The Baltimore Orioles claimed catcher Cam Gallagher off waivers from the San Diego Padres on Sunday and optioned him to Triple-A Norfolk. The six-year MLB veteran with the Kansas City Royals last played with the Padres farm system. He'll be Baltimore's third catcher on the 40-man roster behind rookie Adley Rutschmann and Robinson Chirinos. In a corresponding move, the Orioles designated right-hander Rico Garcia for assignment. Gallagher only appeared in 18 games for the Royals earlier this year before joining the Padres, and he went 9-for-42 (.214) with no home runs, five RBI and one run scored. In 16 games at Triple-A El Paso with the Padres, he went 14-for-55 (.255) with a homer, 10 RBI and nine runs scored.

Sun Sep 5 202116:35Cam Gallagher Heads To Injured List
Kansas City Royals catcher Cam Gallagher (knee) has been placed on the 10-day injured list on Sunday. The 28-year-old was removed from Saturday's game after battling knee discomfort. The organization is going to take the cautious approach and place Gallagher on the injured list. Salvador Perez (neck) is banged up as well, but continues to play through his issue. Sebastian Rivero should see some playing time in KC while Gallagher is sidelined. Gallagher wasn't a fantasy option when healthy, so fantasy managers can ignore him.

Sun Jun 6 202123:44La Russa gets 2,764th win, passes McGraw for 2nd place
CHICAGO (AP) — Tony La Russa moved past John McGraw into sole possession of second on baseball’s career manager wins list, directing the Chicago White Sox to a 3-0 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Sunday. It was win No. 2,764 for La Russa, who was hired by Chicago in October for his first managerial job since he led St. Louis to the World Series championship in 2011. It has been a bit of a bumpy ride so far, but the 76-year-old Hall of Famer has the White Sox on top of the AL Central. Second on the list is almost assuredly the highest finish for La Russa, who also began his managerial career with the White Sox in 1979. The top spot belongs to Connie Mack with 3,731 victories. La Russa watched as Chicago won for the 10th time in 14 games. Dylan Cease (4-2) struck out 10 in seven sparkling innings, Liam Hendriks worked the ninth for his 15th save and Tim Anderson had two hits and two RBIs. José Ureña (2-5) allowed three runs and six hits in five innings. PHILLIES 12, NATIONALS 6 PHILADELPHIA... [More]
