Thu Jan 2510:01Christian Arroyo Signs Minors Pact With Brewers
Free-agent infielder Christian Arroyo has signed a minor-league deal with the Milwaukee Brewers. The deal is worth $1.5 million, plus incentives, if Arroyo is able to crack the big-league roster. The 28-year-old has spent the last three seasons with the Red Sox, most recently hitting .241 with three home runs, one stolen base, and a .637 OPS across 66 appearances in the 2023 season, production that fell 35% below the league average, as per his 65 wRC+. However, Arroyo's bat graded slightly above the league average from 2021-2022 as he hit .286 with six HR and a .736 OPS across 300 trips to the plate in the 2022 campaign. He is a lifetime .252 hitter with 24 HR, eight SB, and a .693 OPS across 295 MLB contests. He will most likely vie for reps at third base with Brice Turang set for everyday reps at second base in 2024.

Mon Jun 5 202312:09Christian Arroyo Activated, Raimel Tapia Designated For Assignment
The Boston Red Sox activated infielder Christian Arroyo (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list on Monday and designated outfielder Raimel Tapia for assignment in a corresponding move. Arroyo is back in the starting lineup on Monday against the Tampa Bay Rays and left-hander Shane McClanahan, playing second base and batting ninth. The 28-year-old will return to a .257/.295/.365 slash line with a homer, 11 RBI, a stolen base and 12 runs scored in 74 at-bats this year. He'll mostly play the keystone for Boston against left-handers, making him mostly a fantasy option in AL-only leagues. Tapia could be playing elsewhere if he clears waivers. The 29-year-old outfielder has hit .264 (23-for-87) with four doubles, a triple, a homer, 10 RBI and six steals in 39 games this year for Boston.

Tue Apr 25 202321:24Christian Arroyo Removed From Tuesday's Game
Boston Red Sox second baseman Christian Arroyo left Tuesday's contest against the Baltimore Orioles early after experiencing right hamstring tightness. According to Ian Browne of MLB.com, the move was just precautionary. Before his exit, he was 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI. On the season, Arroyo is slashing a paltry .189/.218/.245 with no homers, five runs, three RBI, and one steal over 19 games. If the 27-year-old is forced to miss time, fantasy managers can expect Enmanuel Valdez to see more playing time. The rookie only had four games under his belt before Tuesday and was a career .255 hitter with some power (.465 slugging) in the minors, but it's best for fantasy managers to find someone that doesn't have as much to prove.

Mon Apr 24 202314:30Christian Arroyo On The Bench Monday
Boston Red Sox second baseman Christian Arroyo is on the bench for the game on Monday against the Baltimore Orioles. It's the second straight day that Arroyo will start on Boston's bench after he returned to action on Saturday following a minor hamstring injury. With Arroyo out again, Enrique Hernandez will get another start at the keystone and will hit fifth against Orioles right-hander Dean Kremer. Yu Chang remains at the 6 and will hit ninth in the batting order. It appears that Arroyo has fallen out of favor a bit in the middle infield early on, as he's hitting just .189 (10-for-53) with three doubles, three RBI, a stolen base and five runs scored in his first 18 games.

Sat Apr 22 202315:39Christian Arroyo Returning On Saturday
Boston Red Sox second baseman Christian Arroyo (hamstring) is back in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers. He'll return to the lineup after missing each of the last four games due to a lingering hamstring issue. Arroyo was struggling at the bat before the injury, so maybe some time off has helped him find his groove. Regardless, he'll play second base and bat seventh against left-hander Wade Miley on Saturday.

Thu Apr 20 202312:36Christian Arroyo Out Against Twins
Boston Red Sox second baseman Christian Arroyo (hamstring) is not in the team's starting lineup against right-hander Kenta Maeda and the Minnesota Twins on Thursday. Arroyo has been out of the team's lineup since injuring his hamstring on Monday, although he should be available off the bench and could return this weekend. Enrique Hernandez will get another start at the keystone while hitting fifth in the BoSox's batting order. The 27-year-old Arroyo has gotten off to a very slow start at the plate so far this year, going 8-for-50 (.160) with two doubles, three RBI, a stolen base and three runs scored in his first 16 games. Hopefully he can pick it up at the plate once his hamstring is healed.

Wed Apr 19 202318:25Christian Arroyo Available On Wednesday
Boston Red Sox infielder Christian Arroyo (hamstring) is available for Wednesday's game against the Minnesota Twins. He remains out of the lineup for the second straight game, but is available off the bench, according to manager Alex Cora. The 27-year-old suffered an injury during Monday's contest and hasn't played since then. Emmanuel Valdez will cover second base and bat ninth versus right-hander Joe Ryan on Wednesday.

Tue Apr 18 202323:34Christian Arroyo Unlikely To Play In Series Against Twins
It seems as though Boston Red Sox second baseman Christian Arroyo (hamstring) is unlikely to play in the current series against the Minnesota Twins due to a tight hamstring. With Arroyo out on Tuesday, Enrique Hernandez got the start at the keystone on Tuesday against the Twins and right-hander Sonny Gray for the first time since last Sept. 28. The 27-year-old Arroyo left Monday's game early with his hamstring injury and may not return to Boston's lineup until sometime this weekend. If Arroyo is eventually forced to the injured list, Yu Chang will see more regular playing time up the middle for the BoSox. Arroyo has gotten off to a slow start with the bat, going 8-for-50 (.160) with two doubles, three RBI and a stolen base in 16 games played.

Thu Apr 6 202300:44Christian Arroyo Swipes First Bag Of The Season
Boston Red Sox second baseman Christian Arroyo stole a base, went 2-for-3 from the plate and logged an RBI in a 4-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday. He was off to a slow start before Wednesday's game with one hit in 13 at-bats. However, if he keeps stealing bases, he could be a potential asset in fantasy with the new rules that were implemented that benefit faster players on the base paths.

Tue Sep 27 202211:12Christian Arroyo Could Return Tuesday
Boston Red Sox infielder/outfielder Christian Arroyo (illness) has been away from the team for most of the week due to an illness, but he was finally able to work out at Yankee Stadium on Sunday night, and skipper Alex Cora thinks that Arroyo could be back in the lineup by Tuesday night against the Baltimore Orioles. He hasn't played since Sept. 18, but he's been one of Boston's hottest hitters since his return from the injured list on July 30, hitting .329 with 10 doubles and an .815 OPS. On the season in his 256 at-bats, the 27-year-old has been a strong utility player for the BoSox, hitting .281/.321/.414 with six home runs, 31 RBI, 30 runs scored and five stolen bases.

Fri Aug 26 202211:10Christian Arroyo Steals Two Bases Thursday
Boston Red Sox second baseman Christian Arroyo went 2-for-4 with a run scored, two stolen bases, a walk and a strikeout in Thursday's 6-5 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. Arroyo showed that his leg was just fine in this one after missing one game. The stolen bases were only his fourth and fifth of the season, so he's not really a player worth targeting for his speed in deeper leagues. The 27-year-old has been very useful as a utility player for Boston this year, though, with a .289/.333/.428 slash line, five home runs, 22 RBI, 26 runs scored and five steals in 201 at-bats. He's been even better in August, too, going 27-for-79 (.342) with a homer, nine RBI, 10 runs scored and two swipes in 20 games.

Mon Aug 1 202216:37Christian Arroyo Reaches Four Times Sunday
Boston Red Sox utility man Christian Arroyo reached base four times Sunday, going 2-for-2 with a double, two walks, and a run scored in a 7-2 win over the Milwaukee Brewers. Arroyo has only played in seven games in July after missing time with injury, but he has made the most of his opportunities, slashing .458/.536/.625 in 28 plate appearances. He currently doesn't play enough to be worth adding to fantasy rosters, but that could change if Chaim Bloom decides to move on from any regulars at the trade deadline.

Wed Jul 27 202211:30Christian Arroyo, Rich Hill Starting Rehab Assignments
Boston Red Sox infielder/outfielder Christian Arroyo (groin) will "most likely" start a minor league rehab assignment for Double-A Portland on Wednesday, according to manager Alex Cora. Left-hander Rich Hill (knee) will make a rehab start for Portland on Wednesday. Arroyo faced Hill during the southpaw's three-inning simulated game last Friday. Arroyo has limited fantasy value as a utility player for Boston who is hitting .224/.278/.362 with four homers, 13 RBI and three stolen bases in 2022. Hill has been out since July 2, but he could be cleared to return to Boston after one or two rehab starts. The 42-year-old veteran will return to a 4-4 record, 4.20 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 58 strikeouts in 70 2/3 innings over 15 starts.

Fri Jun 24 202216:25Christian Arroyo Back From COVID Injured List
The Boston Red Sox reinstated infielder/outfielder Christian Arroyo from the COVID-19 injured list on Friday. Arroyo will be inserted into the starting lineup immediately on Friday, starting at shortstop and batting ninth against Cleveland Guardians right-hander Cal Quantrill with Xander Bogaerts getting the day off. The 27-year-old has been out since going on the COVID IL on June 15, and he was struggling before that in the month of June, so he won't be a popular addition to DFS lineups as a low-cost sleeper. Overall, he's hitting .187 with three home runs, 10 RBI, 10 runs scored and three stolen bases in 34 games for the Red Sox as a utility player.

Fri Apr 8 202211:44Christian Arroyo, Jackie Bradley Jr. To Platoon In Right Field
Boston Red Sox outfielders Christian Arroyo and Jackie Bradley Jr. are expected to be on a strict platoon in right field, according to manager Alex Cora. On Friday, Bradley will bat eighth and play right field versus right-hander Gerrit Cole. That is obviously not an ideal matchup for Bradley, but no one is expected to do well off an elite talent like Cole. Nonetheless, it sounds like the Red Sox are sticking to a plan of using both Arroyo and Bradley in right field. Neither has much upside with the bat, so this sounds like a wait-and-see approach for fantasy managers.

Thu Mar 24 202214:40Christian Arroyo To Play Friday
Boston Red Sox second baseman Christian Arroyo (hand) will play shortstop on Friday in a spring game. Arroyo was scratched from the Grapefruit League game against the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday with a sore right hand, but the injury is minor in nature. The 26-year-old should be fine for Opening Day unless he suffers a setback. With Xander Bogaerts entrenched at shortstop and new acquisition Trevor Story set to play second base in 2022, Arroyo will serve as a utility infielder in Boston. In 57 games (181 plate appearances) for the Red Sox last year, Arroyo hit .262/.324/.445 with a career-high six home runs, 25 RBI and 22 runs scored. You can ignore him in mixed fantasy leagues.

Tue Oct 19 202122:32Christian Arroyo Hits Two-Run Homer In Game 3
Boston Red Sox infielder Christian Arroyo knocked a two-run homer in Boston's 12-3 rout of the Houston Astros in Game 3 of the ALCS Monday. For the game he went 1-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Arroyo has recorded a hit in three straight games. Any offense from him is a bonus for the club, as Jose Iglesias was a major contributor down the stretch of the regular season but is ineligible for the playoffs. Arroyo is unlikely to be a fantasy priority in 2022.

Mon Oct 11 202111:46Christian Arroyo Enjoys Three-Hit Day
Boston Red Sox utility man Christian Arroyo enjoyed a three-hit game from the ninth spot in Boston's 6-4 extra-inning victory over the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 3. He went 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored. Arroyo has been fortunate to receive playing time for Boston as a result of the down-the-stretch starter at second base, Jose Iglesias, being ineligible for the playoffs. Arroyo had just one hit for Boston since July 17 entering the playoffs, but he now has five hits in 16 at-bats. He's not likely to be a fantasy consideration entering 2022, but he could play himself into an important role with a strong finish to this year.

Sun Aug 29 202122:36Christian Arroyo Tests Positive For COVID-19
Boston Red Sox infielder Christian Arroyo was already on the COVID list after being deemed a close contact of Kike Hernandez, and he has now tested positive for the virus. Arroyo is likely to be out for the next 10 days. With both Hernandez and Arroyo out, Jonathan Arauz and Yairo Munoz were recalled from Triple-A, but Arauz left Sunday's game with an injury. Danny Santana is expected to return from a rehab assignment shortly, and he and Munoz figure to split time at second base for the time being. Fantasy managers should stay tuned for updates.

Sat Aug 28 202100:36Kike Hernandez Tests Positive, Christian Arroyo Close Contact
Boston Red Sox utility man Kike Hernandez has tested positive for COVID-19. He is experiencing symptoms, and will now miss some amount of game action. Fellow infielder Christian Arroyo was considered a close contact and was also placed on the COVID list. Infielders Yairo Munoz and Jonathan Arauz were recalled, and both started on Friday night. Those who test positive generally miss 10 days, but Hernandez may be eligible to return sooner, as he is vaccinated. Fantasy managers should stay tuned for updates on both Hernandez and Arroyo.
