Wed May 820:21Jacob Wilson Promoted To Triple-A
Oakland Athletics top prospect Jacob Wilson has been promoted to Triple-A Las Vegas after hitting .455/.473/.705 with an absurd 1.178 OPS, 16 extra-base hits (three home runs), 19 RBI, two stolen bases and 18 runs scored in 22 games for Double-A Midland. The 22-year-old former sixth overall pick last year out of Grand Canyon University has risen up the A's minor-league system quickly and is now just one step away from making his big-league debut. The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder is the son of former big-league shortstop Jack Wilson. What he lacks in power and exit velocities, Wilson makes up for with his elite contact skills and low strikeout rates. For now, he should be stashed in dynasty/keeper leagues, but he could become a waiver-wire pickup later in the year in single-year leagues if he's called up to Oakland.

Tue May 719:24Jacob Wilson Perfect At The Plate On Tuesday
Oakland Athletics shortstop prospect Jacob Wilson went 4-for-4 with a walk in Tuesday's victory over the Tulsa Drillers. Wilson tallied two runs and two RBI as well. The 22-year-old wasted no time by lacing an RBI double in the opening frame, and then came around to score off a Cooper Bowman groundout. Later in the third, Wilson knocked a single and then scored his second run courtesy of Bowman again, this time off a double. Then in the sixth, he tallied his first RBI of the game off a walk and brought in his second run in the eighth off an RBI single. The former sixth overall pick is riding an incredible .455/.473/.705 slash line through 22 games at Double-A. Wilson should be rostered in all dynasty leagues and could even make a late-season push to the major leagues.

Wed Apr 2421:29Jacob Wilson Collects Four Hits Tuesday
Oakland Athletics shortstop prospect Jacob Wilson went 4-for-5 for Double-A Midland on Tuesday. The four hits included two doubles and two singles. Wilson also drove in three runs and scored twice. It was the second four-hit game of the season for the 22-year-old, raising his average to a robust .409 with four doubles, two home runs, 11 RBI, six runs scored, and two stolen bases. The 2023 first-round draft pick is known for his contact skills, and after a successful debut in 2023 where he hit .333 in 26 games between Rookie and High-A, it appears he's riding that momentum right on into 2024. The Athletics' top prospect (MLB No. 61) looks primed for a promotion to see how he handles Triple-A pitching. A 2025 MLB debut is most likely, but if he continues to hit like this, a late-season call-up isn't out of the question. With his type of bat, he should already be on dynasty managers' radar, if not already rostered.

Fri Apr 1208:04Jacob Wilson Tallies Six RBI In Thursday’s Victory
Oakland Athletics shortstop prospect Jacob Wilson went 4-for-5 with six RBI to power the Midland Rock Hounds over the Amarillo Sod Poodles on Thursday. Wilson knocked a leadoff single in the first inning and then proceeded to swipe second and third base but was unable to score. In the second, he laced an RBI single, which scored Junior Perez. Wilson continued to swing a hot bat as he knocked an RBI double in the fourth inning, which at the time evened the score. He stole third base shortly after. To cap off a monster day at the plate, Wilson launched a grand slam in the eighth inning, which put Midland in the driver's seat. This was only Wilson's fifth game at Double-A. With this recent performance, a promotion to Triple-A later in the summer may not be out of the question, making him an interesting player to stash in dynasty formats.

Thu Aug 17 202300:16Jacob Wilson Off To Hot Start In High-A
Oakland Athletics infield prospect Jacob Wilson is making a strong first impression in the minors. Through 11 games with High-A Lansing, the 21-year-old sports impressive .342/.409/.474 slash line. He was the sixth overall pick in the draft last month, widely considered one of the best pure hitters in his class. Wilson's power and speed are closer to average, but his contact metrics are incredible, posting a 4.4% strikeout rate across his college career. It remains to be seen whether Wilson sticks at shortstop or moves to third base defensively, but in any event, he should ascend to the majors quickly.
