(AP) — Cincinnati outfielder Scott Schebler and Texas pitcher Matt Bush just missed the cutoff for salary arbitration eligibility, while Chicago Cubs pitcher Carl Edwards Jr. and Toronto pitcher Joe Biagini earned the final spots.The Major League Baseball Players Association said Thursday the cutoff for eligibility this winter is 2 years, 134 days of major league service, up from 2 years, 123 days last year. The top 22 percent of players by service time with at least two years but less than three are eligible for arbitration as long as they had at least 86 days this year. ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Braves put catcher Tyler Flowers on the 10-day disabled list with a strained left oblique on Friday and prepared to be without him for a few weeks.Flowers sustained the injury on a swing in his first at-bat of the season in Atlanta's 8-5 win over Philadelphia on Thursday. He could not complete the at-bat and headed straight to the clubhouse.Manager Brian Snitker said Friday that Flowers felt a pop. Snitker said the strain was diagnosed as being of mid-level severity."It's safe to say it's going to take a while," Snitker said, adding he expects Flowers will need "a couple weeks without doing anything" before taking the next step on his rehab.Snitker said it was "a bummer, one of those freak things" for Flowers to get hurt on his first at-bat.Snitker said Kurt Suzuki, who had been expected to split time with Flowers at catcher, will receive "the bulk" of the starts while Flowers is on the DL. Lindgren is expected to miss the entire season recovering from Tommy John surgery, which he underwent last August while a member of the New York Yankees' organization. The Braves signed him in December shortly after he was non-tendered by the Yankees. Lindgren has a 5.14 ERA in seven career big league appearances, all of which he made with the Yankees in 2015.

Lindgren underwent surgery in June to remove a bone spur in his left elbow, and while the hope at the time was that he'd be ready to return before the end of the season, he doesn't appear to be progressing as quickly as anticipated. The next step figures to be pitching off a mound, and once he's able to do that the 22-year-old will likely progress to a rehab assignment.

Lindgren was placed on the minor league disabled list earlier this week with an undisclosed ailment, but it now looks like the elbow was to blame. The Yankees have given the reliever a recovery timetable of "no more than 12 weeks," and if that holds true, look for Lindgren to be available again in early-to-mid September.
