Sat Mar 2309:26Trea Turner Collects A Hit And A Walk Friday
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner went 1-for-2 with a single and a walk in Friday's 4-3 Grapefruit League loss to the Tigers. The speedster also stole a base, his second of the spring. The veteran is having a solid but unspectacular spring, hitting just .268 (11-for-41) with four doubles, zero home runs, two RBI, one runs scored, and two stolen bases. The 2x All-Star has drawn three walks while striking out ten times. You don't want to put too much stock into spring stats, but Turner got off to a slow start last season so it would be comforting for managers to see him with a little more momentum heading into the season. Nevertheless, the 30-year-old is still a top option at shortstop with his power-speed combo which, like last season, can buoy his fantasy value even if the batting average isn't there.

Tue Feb 2710:48Trea Turner Goes Hitless, Draws A Walk In Spring Debut
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner saw his first game action of the spring on Sunday in a 4-0 Grapefruit League win over the New York Yankees. The 2x All-Star went 0-for-2 with a walk but did not steal a bag or come around to score after getting on base. Last season, Turner got off to a slow start but eventually was able to turn things around during his first season in Philly. The former NL batting champ slashed .247/.299/.389 in the first half with a .297 WOBA and 84 wRC+, but in the second half it was .292/.348/.554 with a .381 WOBA and 140 wRC+, so he'll look to carry that momentum into 2024. Combined with his ability to steal bases, he goes off draft boards late in the first round (NFBC ADP of 12). RotoBaller ranks him at 14, however, if he can outperform his ATC projection of 28 stolen bases (he had 30 in '23), then he could pay off his high price tag.

Wed Oct 4 202312:51Trea Turner Steals Two Bases In Win Over Marlins
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner went 2-for-3 with a walk and two stolen bases in the 4-1 win over the visiting Miami Marlins in Game 1 of the wild-card series on Tuesday night. It was the sixth time Turner has stolen multiple bases in a game this year, and he's now stolen 32 total bases all year in his first year in Philadelphia. The 30-year-old got off to an ice-cold start in the first half but rebounded to finish the regular season with a .266/.320/.459 slash line, 26 home runs, 76 RBI, 30 stolen bases and 102 runs scored in 639 at-bats. Turner will face Marlins left-hander Braxton Garrett in Game 2 on Wednesday night. Turner has gone 2-for-6 against Garrett in his career, with both of hits clearing the fences for solo homers.

Sun Sep 10 202317:00Trea Turner Stays Blazing Hot, Homers Again
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner continued to set the game on fire on Sunday, going 2-for-4 with a home run, a run, and two RBI. That's 24 home runs on the season for Turner. Though the overall numbers still aren't the prettiest, he has been on an absolute tear since receiving a standing ovation from the Philly crowd. On Aug 4, Turner had a .236/.289/.367 slash line, that is now up to .265/.317/.457. Being so late in the season, and accruing so many at-bats, it is a miraculous feat that he has accomplished. He is carrying teams right now and could continue to through the end of the season.

Fri Sep 8 202316:19Trea Turner Returns From Paternity List
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner was activated from the paternity list on Friday afternoon. He's back in the starting lineup, batting second against Marlins starting pitcher Eury Perez. While Turner's .263/.313/.452 slash line hasn't quite lived up to the offseason hype, he remains a dominant baserunner and has started to turn a corner offensively. All in all, his return is good news for the Phillies and fantasy managers alike.

Tue Sep 5 202318:31Trea Turner Placed On Paternity List
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner has been placed on the paternity list on Tuesday. The 30-year-old will be away from the team for a few days due to the birth of his child. The team will certainly miss his bat as Turner has been one of the hottest hitters in baseball lately. The slugging infielder has 10 home runs over his last 15 games. In a corresponding move, Weston Wilson has been recalled to take his spot on the active roster. The expectation is that Turner will be back in the lineup by the weekend.

Sun Sep 3 202312:33Trea Turner Extends Hitting Streak To 13 Games
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner finished Saturday's 7-5 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers with a 2-for-5 line, a home run, an RBI, two stolen bases, two runs scored and two strikeouts. Turner had been one of fantasy managers' biggest disappointments in his first year in the Philadelphia, but he's turned it around of late. The 30-year-old two-time All-Star is currently riding a 13-game hitting streak, dating back to Aug. 19, in which he's gone 20-for-56 (.357) with nine home runs, three doubles, a triple, 20 RBI, three stolen bases and 17 runs scored in 13 starts. The hot stretch has boosted his season slash line to .260/.310/.446 with 21 homers, 64 RBI, 25 steals and 84 runs scored in 551 at-bats. Turner hasn't been caught stealing all year, and fantasy managers can only hope he'll end 2023 on a high note.

Tue Aug 29 202300:51Trea Turner Hits Two More Homers Monday
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner stayed hot at the plate in Monday's 6-4 win over the Angels. Turner went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a two-run HR, and a walk. The 30-year-old has really picked things up at the plate in August, batting .313 with seven HR, 20 RBI, and two stolen bases. While he has been disappointing overall this season, fantasy managers should hopefully get more of what they had expected from Turner for the rest of the season as long as he can stay hot.

Sat Aug 19 202321:49Trea Turner Smacks Two Home Runs In The Same Inning Saturday
On Saturday, Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner nailed two homers in the eighth inning, topping the Nationals 12-3. The Phillies scored all their 12 runs in three separate innings, with three in the seventh, eight in the eighth, and one in the ninth frame. Turner's dingers were the first and last runs in the eighth. The 30-year-old seems to be moving past his offensive struggles this season, as he has posted a .380 batting average and hit four homers while collecting 11 RBI in the last 13 contests.

Thu Aug 3 202312:02Trea Turner Drops Even Further In Batting Order
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner is starting at shortstop and batting eighth in the lineup on Thursday against right-hander Johnny Cueto and the Miami Marlins in the series finale. Due to his struggles at the plate, Turner continues to fall further down the team's batting order. The 30-year-old has been one of the biggest busts in fantasy this year so far, considering he was drafted in the top three picks in most leagues. Since July 19, Turner has gone 7-for-53 (.132) with no home runs or RBI, two doubles, a triple, 14 strikeouts, no stolen bases and six runs scored in 13 games played. Turner could pick it up at any moment, but he hasn't shown signs of coming out of his season-long slump of late.

Tue Aug 1 202317:28Trea Turner Dropped To Seventh Against Marlins
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner is starting at shortstop and batting seventh in the lineup on Tuesday against the Miami Marlins and right-hander Sandy Alcantara. The struggling Turner was recently dropped to fifth in the batting order and now finds himself all the way down in the No. 7 spot. Kyle Schwarber is leading off on Tuesday, with Alec Bohm in the two-hole. Given where he came off the board within the first three picks of fantasy drafts, Turner has been a pretty huge disappointment in 2023 in his first year in Philly. He's hitting .242/.296/.378 with 10 homers, 34 RBI, 21 steals and 58 runs in 434 at-bats. Turner hit just .218 (22-for-101) with two homers, four doubles, two triples, five RBI, three steals and 12 runs scored in 24 games in July.

Wed Jul 26 202316:01Trea Turner Not Playing Wednesday
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner is taking the day off on Wednesday against the visiting Baltimore Orioles. Edmundo Sosa will replace him at shortstop and bat in the nine-hole against Orioles right-hander Kyle Bradish. Turner's disappointing first season in Philadelphia has continued of late, as he's gone 4-for-27 (.148) with no homers, a double, a triple, no RBI and two runs scored in his last seven games. The 30-year-old still has provided his fantasy managers with 21 stolen bases, but everything else has been a big disappointment, considering where he was drafted. In 417 at-bats, he's slashing .245/.297/.384 with 10 homers, 34 RBI and 56 runs scored. Turner is capable of getting hot the rest of the way, but we haven't seen it yet.

Sat Jul 22 202302:11Trea Turner Triples In Friday's Loss
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner went 1-for-5 with a triple, a run scored, and two strikeouts in a 6-5 loss to the Cleveland Guardians on Friday. Turner picked up his lone hit, his fourth triple of the season, in the top of the third inning off Gavin Williams. He would then come around to score on a Nick Castellanos ground out in the same frame to put Philadelphia on the board. The 30-year-old speedster didn't reach base in his other four plate appearances in this one as the Phillies dropped the opening game of the three-game set against Cleveland. Turner has struggled most of the season but has looked a little better at the dish following the All-Star break. Over his last seven contests, he's batting .276 with a .792 OPS, two RBI, two stolen bases, and a 5:3 K/BB ratio. He's not exactly lighting the world on fire but it's encouraging to see a decrease in strikeouts, considering he already has 103 on the season and his career-high is 132 (2018). Overall, Turner is slashing .246/.299/.388 with 10 home runs, 34 RBI, and 21 stolen bases over 402 at-bats.

Fri Jul 14 202322:45Trea Turner Hitless In Five Trips To The Plate Friday
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner continued his offensive struggles, going 0-for-5 in the batter's box Friday in an 8-3 loss against San Diego. Three of his at-bats resulted in strikeouts. The 30-year-old is slashing .244/.295/.678 with 10 home runs and 32 RBI in 373 plate appearances in 2023. Turner had just six hits in six contests going into the All-Star break in the month of July. Hopefully, he can turn his season around for fantasy managers that have him rostered, as the infielder has already struck out 98 times.

Thu Jul 13 202313:09Trea Turner Looking To Bounce Back In Second Half
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner is looking to bounce back from a disappointing first half of the season ahead of a four-game series against the San Diego Padres at home. To say that Turner's Phillies debut has been a letdown so far would be an understatement. He owns a rough .247/.299/.389 batting line with 10 home runs, 32 RBI, and 19 stolen bases over 368 at-bats. Those rate stats are all well below the career averages (.296/.350/.478) for the 30-year-old. Unfortunately, there isn't much hope in his expected stats, either, with a .257 xBA, .309 xWOBA, and .402 xSLG. Turner also has a 24.1% K rate, up from 18.5% last season, and the second-highest mark since way back in 2015. He still possesses all of the talent in the world and it's not uncommon for players to struggle in their first year with a new team. If you've stuck with him for this long, it's worth staying the course as there's little point in selling him low in a trade. Perhaps the All-Star break will do him some good and ignite a strong start to the second half. It would certainly be a welcoming development for both the Phillies and fantasy managers.

Thu Jul 6 202301:57Trea Turner Smacks Solo Homer In Win
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 8-4 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. After turning in 100 RBI last year, the 30-year-old's RBI upside hasn't been nearly as strong as fantasy managers may have envisioned when spending a first-round pick on him this past spring. Some of the decline has to do with the three-true-outcome nature of Phillies leadoff man Kyle Schwarber, but Turner simply hasn't hit well. The 2022 Silver Slugger is slashing an unfamiliar .248/.302/.387 with nine homers, 30 RBI, and 18 stolen bases during his Philadelphia debut season. After finishing up this series with the Rays on Thursday, Turner wraps up the first half with a three-game set against the Miami Marlins. He is hitting .313 with four bombs, 17 RBI, and eight swipes over 115 at-bats against Miami since 2020.

Mon Jun 26 202315:08Trea Turner Enjoys Big Day In Comeback Win
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner finished 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBI, two runs scored, and two stolen bases in Sunday's 7-6 comeback win over the New York Mets. The 29-year-old was integral in Philly's victory, bashing a homer in the first inning and swiping two bags in the fifth frame before drawing a go-ahead hit-by-pitch in the eighth. Turner is breaking out of his early-season funk, hitting .279 with three blasts, 13 RBI, and eight thefts over 98 trips to the plate in June so far. Overall, the 2022 All-Star and Silver Slugger is slashing .248/.305/.387 with eight bombs, 28 RBI, and 15 pilfers in 315 at-bats during his Phillies debut campaign. Turner next sees a three-game series starting on Tuesday with the Chicago Cubs, who he is batting just .184 (7-for-38) with three RBI in nine games against since 2022.

Wed Jun 14 202307:01Trea Turner Steals Two Bases Tuesday
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner had a big game in a 15-3 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday. Turner went 2-for-3 with two walks, two runs, and two steals in the lopsided road win over Arizona. The big night raises Turner's batting average to .249, to go along with seven homers, 39 runs, 20 RBI, and 11 steals across 277 at-bats. Turner is starting to come around at the plate after a slow start with the Phillies, hitting .308 with three steals over his past seven games. Fantasy gamers will want to stay patient with the star as he can be a dominant force at the plate.

Mon Jun 5 202321:57Trea Turner Homers Twice Monday
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner went 4-for-5 with two homers, three runs, and three RBI in an 8-3 win over the Detroit Tigers on Monday. Turner is now hitting .243 with seven homers, 32 runs, 19 RBI, and eight steals across 251 at-bats in his first season in Philly.

Fri Jun 2 202316:41Trea Turner Dropped To Five-Hole, Kyle Schwarber Leading Off
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner is being dropped to the No. 5 spot in the batting order on Friday against the Washington Nationals and right-hander Josiah Gray, while outfielder Kyle Schwarber slides up into the leadoff spot. Turner is in a rough stretch that has seen him go 5-for-38 (.132) with a home run, four RBI and five strikeouts in his last nine games. It has dropped his overall line in his first year in Philly to a disappointing .236/.279/.369 with 12 doubles, two triples, five home runs, 15 RBI and eight steals in 55 games. The 29-year-old could heat up at any moment, but the move down to the five-hole on Friday is bad news for his immediate fantasy value. Schwarber hasn't been much better of late, going 2-for-30 in his last nine games.
