Sat Sep 23 202313:57Raimel Tapia Getting Called Up By The Rays
Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Raimel Tapia has had his contract selected from Triple-A Durham. The veteran outfielder will replace Brandon Lowe (knee), who is done for the season, on the active roster. Tapia couldn't stick with either the Red Sox or the Brewers this season and signed a minor league contract with Tampa Bay in early August. The 29-year-old was a .280/.325/.396 hitter with the Rockies over the first six years of his career but he's found life away from Coors Field a little more difficult. He's slashing just .256/.296/.369 over the last two years while playing with Toronto, Boston, and Milwaukee.

Mon Jul 24 202316:33Raimel Tapia Elects Free Agency
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Raimel Tapia has decided to elect free agency on Monday. He was recently designated for assignment by the organization in order to make room for Sal Frelick on the active roster. The 29-year-old spent time with the Boston Red Sox earlier in the season before joining the Brewers. He's slashing .230/.308/.388 with three home runs, 13 RBI, and eight steals across 33 games. Tapia could catch on elsewhere as a depth option, but it's unlikely he'll provide fantasy value wherever he goes.

Tue Jun 13 202319:17Raimel Tapia Signs With Brewers
Free-agent outfielder Raimel Tapia signed an undisclosed deal with the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday, according to a source. Tapia was released by the Boston Red Sox on Sunday, but he's now joined the Brewers for their game on Tuesday against the Minnesota Twins, although he is not in the starting lineup. Tapia played in 39 games for the Red Sox before getting released, and he hit .264 (23-for-87) with four doubles, a triple, a home run, 10 RBI, six stolen bases and 14 runs scored in 97 plate appearances. The 29-year-old has been much better against right-handed pitching and could be worth a look for his speed in NL-only leagues. However, fantasy managers should expect Tapia to see infrequent playing time as outfield depth in his new digs.

Mon Jun 5 202312:09Christian Arroyo Activated, Raimel Tapia Designated For Assignment
The Boston Red Sox activated infielder Christian Arroyo (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list on Monday and designated outfielder Raimel Tapia for assignment in a corresponding move. Arroyo is back in the starting lineup on Monday against the Tampa Bay Rays and left-hander Shane McClanahan, playing second base and batting ninth. The 28-year-old will return to a .257/.295/.365 slash line with a homer, 11 RBI, a stolen base and 12 runs scored in 74 at-bats this year. He'll mostly play the keystone for Boston against left-handers, making him mostly a fantasy option in AL-only leagues. Tapia could be playing elsewhere if he clears waivers. The 29-year-old outfielder has hit .264 (23-for-87) with four doubles, a triple, a homer, 10 RBI and six steals in 39 games this year for Boston.

Tue May 30 202314:58Raimel Tapia Hitting In Leadoff Spot Tuesday
Boston Red Sox outfielder Raimel Tapia is starting out of the leadoff spot Tuesday night when the club hosts right-hander Ben Lively and the Cincinnati Reds. It's a fairly rare start for the speedster, as Alex Verdugo has been a constant out of the leadoff spot for the BoSox this season, appearing in 51 of the team's 53 contests. The 29-year-old Tapia hasn't been totally out of the picture, though, as he's appeared in 35 games while hitting .256 with one homer and five stolen bases across 87 trips to the plate. However, his .659 OPS, .297 wOBA, and 82 wRC+ leave plenty to be desired despite solid glove work in the outfield.

Tue Mar 28 202322:19Raimel Tapia Makes Opening Day Roster
Boston Red Sox outfielder Raimel Tapia has made the team's Opening Day roster, according to a source. Tapia will get the final roster spot after the team optioned Jarren Duran to Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday. The 29-year-old Dominican outfielder won't have much fantasy value outside of AL-only leagues as a bench player for Boston. He hit .265/.292/.380 with a .672 OPS, seven home runs, 52 RBI, 47 runs scored and eight stolen bases in 433 plate appearances and 128 games in 2022 with the Toronto Blue Jays. Duran should eventually be up with the Red Sox in the major leagues this year, so Tapia will have to play well in the limited opportunities he gets in order to stick around. Tapia lost most of his fantasy appeal in 2022 when he was traded to Toronto before Opening Day.

Thu Jan 19 202313:03Raimel Tapia Signs Minor-League Deal With Red Sox
The Boston Red Sox signed free-agent outfielder Raimel Tapia to a minor-league deal on Thursday. The 28-year-old will be invited to major-league spring training. In 128 games for the Toronto Blue Jays in 2022, Tapia slashed .265/.292/.380 with a .672 OPS, seven home runs, 52 RBI, 47 runs scored and eight stolen bases in 433 plate appearances. He'll have a good chance to earn a bench role as depth in Boston's outfield, but he won't be attractive in fantasy outside of deep AL-only leagues. Tapia is best known for his speed -- he stole a career-high 20 bases in his final season with the Rockies in 2021 -- but he won't provide much at the plate (career-high nine homers in 2019).

Wed Nov 16 202218:04Raimel Tapia Designated For Assignment
The Toronto Blue Jays designated outfielders Raimel Tapia and Bradley Zimmer for assignment on Tuesday while also releasing Foster Griffin. In corresponding moves, the team added Orelvis Martinez, Yosver Zulueta, Addison Barger and Spencer Horwitz to the 40-man roster. The Blue Jays acquired Tapia from the Colorado Rockies last March. The 28-year-old ended up playing in 128 games in Toronto last season, hitting .265/.292/.380 with seven home runs, 52 RBI, 47 runs scored and eight stolen bases in his 411 at-bats. Zimmer played 100 games for the Blue Jays and nine with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2022. In his 100 games in Toronto, he hit just .101/.200/.213 with two home runs, five RBI, 14 runs scored and three stolen bases.

Sat Jul 23 202211:11Raimel Tapia Drives In Six In Blowout Of Red Sox
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Raimel Tapia had a career night out of the leadoff spot in Friday's 28-5 obliteration of the Boston Red Sox. Tapia went 3-for-7 with a home run (an inside-the-park grand slam), a double, six RBI and two runs scored. The 28-year-old is now in the midst of a modest five-game hitting streak in which he's gone 10-for-19 (.526) with four extra-base hits, 10 RBI, five runs scored and a stolen base. The big game on Friday raised his season slash line to .279/.304/.405 with five long balls, 31 RBI, 29 runs scored and five stolen bases in 247 at-bats. Tapia doesn't have a ton of over-the-fence pop, but fantasy managers should continue to ride him while he's hot.

Sat Apr 9 202213:07Raimel Tapia Hitting Eighth In Blue Jays Debut
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Raimel Tapia is starting in left field and batting eighth in his team's debut Saturday against the Texas Rangers. Toronto acquired Tapia and minor league infielder Adrian Pinto from the Colorado Rockies during Spring Training. He slashed .273/.327/.372 with six homers, 50 RBI, a career-high 20 steals and 69 runs scored in 133 games in 2021. Tapia figures to sit against most lefties and will have a tough time cracking the starting lineup with a loaded Blue Jays outfield, including George Springer, Lourdes Gurriel, and Teoscar Hernandez. Fantasy managers with daily moves can use Tapia as a streamer in a projected high-scoring affair (nine-run over/under) in Saturday's slate.

Thu Mar 24 202214:08Raimel Tapia Traded To Blue Jays
The Toronto Blue Jays acquired outfielder Raimel Tapia and minor league infielder Adrian Pinto from the Colorado Rockies on Thursday in exchange for outfielder Randal Grichuk and cash, according to a source. Tapia's fantasy value will take a hit with the move. Although Rogers Centre isn't a bad hitter's park by any means, he's leaving an excellent hitter's paradise in Coors Field, and he'll also face much stiffer competition for playing time in Toronto. The 28-year-old has a .280/.325/.395 slash line with 19 homers, 136 RBI and 45 stolen bases in 439 games in his six seasons with the Rockies. He hit .273 with six homers, 50 RBI, a career-high 20 steals and 69 runs scored in 133 games in 2021. Unless an injury opens up everyday playing time for Tapia, he'll merely be a bench option in AL-only leagues for his speed.

Tue Sep 28 202120:25Raimel Tapia Not In Tuesday's Lineup
Colorado Rockies outfielder Raimel Tapia is absent from Tuesday's starting lineup to take on the Washington Nationals, according to MLB.com. Tapia has given fantasy managers a .273 batting average with 20 SBs, but he has little power (six home runs, .369 slugging). Garrett Hampson will take his spot in the outfield and bat leadoff. Hampson, like Tapia, has speed with 17 steals but doesn't provide anything else with the bat as he's slashing .239/.295/.388 with 11 HRs over 143 games. However, with left-hander Patrick Corbin on the bump for the Rockies, he's a good streaming option with a strong .837 OPS off southpaws, especially in the leadoff spot.

Sat Sep 25 202112:13Raimel Tapia Reaches Base Twice And Scores In Loss
Colorado Rockies outfielder Raimel Tapia went 2-for-5 with a run scored and a strikeout in a 7-2 lopsided loss to the San Francisco Giants. Tapia got the things going for Colorado in the bottom of the first inning with a single and a run scored. They would go on to score two runs in the opening frame but would get shut out the rest of the way. Tapia has largely struggled at the plate since getting activated from the IL in late August. Overall, he's slashing .274/.328/.372 with six home runs, 49 RBI, and 20 stolen bases over 457 at-bats. The home runs and stolen bases are both career bests for the 27-year-old.

Thu Sep 23 202123:01Raimel Tapia Swats A Homer In Thursday's Loss
Colorado Rockies outfielder Raimel Tapia went 1-for-5 with a two-run homer in a 7-5 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday. Tapia's only hit was an impressive one as he turned on a Max Scherzer offering with Kyle Freeland aboard in the fifth inning. The result was a two-run homer to right field that gave the Rockies a 5-3 advantage. The lead wouldn't last and it was Tapia's only hit of the ball game. The 27-year-old was on his way to a stellar season before a big toe injury in early August sidelined him for three weeks. He's struggled to get things going since his activation from the IL and now owns a .272/.327/.372 batting line with six home runs, 49 RBI, and 20 stolen bases over 452 at-bats.

Wed Sep 15 202114:58Raimel Tapia Absent From Wednesday’s Lineup
Colorado Rockies outfielder Raimel Tapia is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Atlanta Braves. He will get the day off after hitting .162 (6-for-37) with an RBI over his last 11 games. Sam Hilliard (elbow) is in the lineup, batting sixth and starting in left field. Hilliard returns to the lineup after getting hit by a pitch in Saturday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies. The 27-year-old hit .375 (3-for-8) with a homer and two RBI over his last three games. Hilliard can be used as a streamer in deep-league formats.

Thu Sep 9 202117:55Raimel Tapia Isn't Starting Thursday
Colorado Rockies outfielder Raimel Tapia isn't in Thursday's lineup for a matchup with the Philadelphia Phillies and left-hander Ranger Suarez. The 27-year-old is batting .277 with a .330 on-base percentage, five home runs, and 20 stolen bases in 470 plate appearances this season. The Rockies will start Sam Hilliard in left field in Tapia's place. You're probably better off looking elsewhere for streaming help in the outfield. Hilliard, who is hitting eighth on Thursday, is batting .183 with a .260 on-base percentage, nine home runs, and a pair of stolen bases in 169 plate appearances this season.

Sun Sep 5 202118:43Raimel Tapia Triples In Lopsided Loss To Atlanta
Colorado Rockies outfielder Raimel Tapia went 2-for-4 with a triple and a run scored in a 9-2 loss to the Atlanta Braves on Sunday. Tapia jumped up to second in the batting order in the wake of Connor Joe's hamstring injury and performed well. He was the only player on the Rockies to record a hit on the day, which speaks to how abysmal of a game this was for Colorado. Tapia has been scuffling at the plate since returning from the injured list, going just 3-for-22 over the last seven games. Overall, he's put together a solid season with a .281 batting average, .711 OPS, five home runs, 46 RBI, and 20 stolen bases over 417 at-bats. The 20 thefts are a career-high for the 27-year-old outfielder.

Mon Aug 30 202123:22Raimel Tapia Reaches Twice In Return To The Lineup
Colorado Rockies outfielder Raimel Tapia went 1-for-3 with a single and a walk in a 4-3 loss to the Texas Rangers on Monday. Tapia was making his return to the lineup after missing the last three weeks with a right big toe injury. He was consistently batting out of the leadoff spot prior to his injury but Connor Joe has usurped that role in his absence. Tapia was hitting out of the seven-hole on Monday and reached twice in four plate appearances. The 27-year-old outfielder was having a solid season before getting hurt, slashing .288/.340/.386 with five home runs, 45 RBI, and 19 stolen bases over 399 at-bats. He can still provide fantasy value despite hitting down in the lineup.

Mon Aug 30 202118:53Raimel Tapia Activated From Injured List On Monday
Colorado Rockies outfielder Raimel Tapia (toe) was activated from the injured list and will bat seventh on Monday against A.J. Alexy and the Texas Rangers. The 27-year-old, who has been sidelined since August 8 with a right big toe injury, previously batted leadoff but will bat down the lineup since Connor Joe has been so solid in the leadoff spot in his absence. In his seven games prior to injury, Tapia hit .333/.333/.407 with two RBI, three stolen bases, and four runs scored on nine hits. Joe, who will play first base on Monday, is hitting .261/.406/.478 in his last seven with one home run, seven RBI, five stolen bases, and six runs scored on six hits.

Sun Aug 29 202109:05Raimel Tapia Could Return On Monday
Colorado Rockies outfielder Raimel Tapia (toe) is nearing a return to the team, according to Rockies manager Bud Black. Black stated that Tapia could join the team as soon as Monday, August 30 as long as his rehab games all go well this weekend. Tapia has been out since August 8 due to a right big toe strain. Connor Joe has filled in as the team's everyday leadoff hitter in Tapia's absence. It will be interesting to see how the team handles both Tapia and Joe going forward as Joe has put together a fantastic month of August, slashing .295/.383/.564 with six home runs and 14 runs scored. Tapia will likely return to being the team's primary leadoff hitter, but Joe should continue to see at least semi-regular playing time and some leadoff opportunities as well.
