Sun Mar 2417:21Bradley Zimmer Released By Rockies
Colorado Rockies outfielder Bradley Zimmer has been released by the organization on Sunday. This move is unsurprising after the Rockies acquired outfielder Jake Cave this weekend. There was no more room for Zimmer on the roster despite his solid play this spring. Zimmer was hitting .378 with one home run, four RBI, and four stolen bases in 49 plate appearances in camp. The former top prospect is hopeful to bounce back elsewhere with another organization. His play this spring should earn him another chance somewhere else.

Tue Feb 620:58Bradley Zimmer Reaches Minors Deal With Rockies
Free-agent left-handed-hitting outfielder Bradley Zimmer reached a minor-league deal with the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday that includes an invitation to major-league spring training, according to a source. The Rockies have been looking for a left-handed hitter who can play all three outfield spots and can spell Brenton Doyle in center field. Zimmer didn't play at all in the big leagues last year, instead spending time at the Triple-A level with both the Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston Red Sox, hitting a combined .210/.326/.346 with eight home runs, 32 RBI and 20 stolen bases in 82 minor-league contests. The 31-year-old former first-rounder has spent six years in the big leagues with three different teams and has hit just .213 (183-for-859) with 21 homers, 91 RBI and 42 stolen bases in 372 career games. At best, he'll be a reserve outfielder for Colorado in 2024.

Sun Dec 18 202213:06Dodgers Sign Bradley Zimmer To Minor-League Deal
The Los Angeles Dodgers signed free-agent outfielder Bradley Zimmer to a minor-league deal on Saturday, according to a source. The 30-year-old center fielder has seen big-league action with the Cleveland Guardians, Toronto Blue Jays and Philadelphia Phillies over the last six seasons. In 2022, he spent time with the Blue Jays and Phillies, hitting just .124/.207/.229 with two home runs, five RBI, 18 runs scored and three stolen bases in 117 plate appearances and 109 games. The majority of it (100 games) came with Toronto. Zimmer will be fighting for a roster spot out of spring training and will represent left-handed-hitting outfield depth for the Blue. In his six big-league campaigns, Zimmer has slashed .213/.298/.333 with a .631 OPS, 21 home runs, 91 RBI, 121 runs and 42 stolen bases in 372 games.

Mon Aug 29 202218:39Blue Jays Bring Back Bradley Zimmer
The Toronto Blue Jays claimed outfielder Bradley Zimmer off waivers from the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday. The former top prospect spent some time with the Phillies before getting cut by the team. Zimmer will now return to Toronto and serve as depth in the outfield after playing for them earlier this year. The 29-year-old will report to Triple-A, but he is expected to join the big-league club shortly. There is almost no fantasy value here with Zimmer, so fantasy managers can ignore this news in mixed leagues.

Sun Apr 10 202213:51Bradley Zimmer Activated On Sunday
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Bradley Zimmer has been activated ahead of Sunday's game against the Texas Rangers. Zimmer was acquired by the Jays earlier in the week in a trade that sent right-hander Anthony Castro to the Cleveland Guardians. The 29-year-old outfielder was a former 1st round pick, but hasn't panned out in the big leagues. He is expected to get occasional starts against right-handed pitching. Zimmer isn't expected to do enough at the plate to warrant rostering. Infielder Gosuke Katoh has been optioned to the minors to make room for Zimmer on the roster.

Thu Apr 7 202221:18Bradley Zimmer Traded To The Blue Jays
The Cleveland Guardians traded outfielder Bradley Zimmer to the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for pitcher Anthony Castro. He lost the starting right field job to Steven Kwan, and with Josh Naylor (leg) set to return to action soon, the Guardians decided to move on from Zimmer. The 29-year-old will provide depth for a loaded Toronto Blue Jays outfield but is stuck behind George Springer, Teoscar Hernandez, Lourdes Gurriel, and Raimel Tapia. Zimmer has the power-speed combination evidenced by hitting eight home runs and swiping 15 bags for Cleveland over 99 games in 2021. Fantasy managers can leave Zimmer on the waiver wire in most league formats with the lack of playing time expected in Toronto.

Fri Aug 27 202106:15Bradley Zimmer Homers Thursday
Cleveland Indians outfielder Bradley Zimmer went 2-for-5 with a home run, three RBI, and a stolen base in Thursday's 10-6 win over the Texas Rangers. It was another solid night for Zimmer who now has two home runs, seven RBI, and three stolen bases over his previous 42 at-bats. Fantasy managers that are looking for run production and stolen bases down the stretch could look his way, but he is still a risky proposition as he hits further down in the lineup against left-handed pitching.

Wed Aug 18 202111:39Bradley Zimmer Sitting On Wednesday
Cleveland Indians outfielder Bradley Zimmer is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against Lewis Thorpe and the Minnesota Twins. Franmil Reyes is making a rare start in right field for the game and batting cleanup. Zimmer has been productive at the plate so far this month. Over 14 games in August, Zimmer is slashing .255/.333/.489 with three home runs, three stolen bases, seven RBI and seven runs. He's earned regular playing time and should continue to play just about every day as long as he remains productive. He's a solid waiver wire target for fantasy managers in five-outfielder leagues and deep leagues.

Tue Aug 17 202106:59Bradley Zimmer Has Big Night Monday
Cleveland Indians outfielder Bradley Zimmer went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, a walk, and a stolen base in Monday night's 5-4 loss to the Minnesota Twins. Zimmer has been ripping the cover off the ball lately as he is hitting .275 with three home runs, seven RBI, and two stolen bases over his previous 40 at-bats. He makes for an intriguing addition to teams in need of speed and can certainly provide some pop down the stretch as well.

Tue Aug 10 202108:05Bradley Zimmer Homers Again Monday
Cleveland Indians outfielder Bradley Zimmer went 1-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored, and two RBI in Monday's 9-3 win over the Cincinnati Reds. Zimmer has now homered in back-to-back games and is posting a .967 OPS over his previous 18 at-bats. He is worth adding to your watch list and could be worth snagging if he continues to rake as he has in recent weeks.

Mon Aug 9 202108:56Bradley Zimmer Homers Sunday
Cleveland Indians outfielder Bradley Zimmer went 2-for-5 with a double and a two-run home run in Sunday's 7-5 win over the Detroit Tigers. It was a solid Day for Zimmer out of the two-hole and he is now posting a solid .280//.321/.761 slash line over his previous 25 at-bats. He still does not garner consideration for fantasy managers at this point, however.

Sat Jul 31 202102:55Joey Votto homers for 7th straight game, 1 shy of MLB record
NEW YORK (AP) — Joey Votto homered for the seventh straight game, one shy of a major league record, and the Cincinnati Reds beat the New York Mets 6-2 on Friday night. Jonathan India went deep twice for the Reds, including a leadoff shot that came on Carlos Carrasco’s first pitch with the Mets. Acquired from Cleveland in January, the veteran right-hander finally made his New York debut after recovering from a hamstring injury. It was an up-and-down day for the Mets, who made a big deal to get Javier Báez from the Chicago Cubs before baseball’s trade deadline — and then revealed injured ace Jacob deGrom will be shut down for two more weeks because of inflammation in his pitching elbow, making it unlikely he’ll rejoin the NL East leaders before September. Báez was acquired from the Cubs along with right-hander Trevor Williams for outfield prospect Pete Crow-Armstrong, the Mets’ first-round pick in the 2020 amateur draft. Báez is expected to join the Mets on Saturday and will play shortstop... [More]

Tres Barrera singled off Mark Melancon (2-2) with one out in the ninth and, after failing on a bunt attempt, Victor Robles was hit by pitch. Sat Jul 17 202101:31AL East-leading Red Sox beat short-handed Yankees 4-0
NEW YORK (AP) — Eduardo Rodriguez shut down the short-handed Yankees into the sixth inning, Christian Arroyo and J.D. Martinez homered and the Boston Red Sox beat their rivals 4-0 on Friday night with New York missing slugger Aaron Judge and five others due to a coronavirus outbreak. A day after the series opener was postponed for testing and contact tracing, Judge, third baseman Gio Urshela and catcher Kyle Higashioka were added to the COVID-19 injured list. They joined Yankees pitchers Jonathan Loaisiga, Nestor Cortes Jr. and Wandy Peralta, who have also tested positive over the past week. New York was also without first baseman Luke Voit, who went on the injured list Friday with a bone bruise in his left knee. Rodriguez (7-5) allowed two hits over 5 2/3 innings, retiring 10 straight during one stretch and finishing with eight strikeouts. Hirokazu Sawamura got the final out of the sixth, and Tanner Houck pitched the final three innings, closing out Boston’s three-hitter for his first... [More]
Thu Jul 1 202101:31Turner hits for 3rd cycle, red-hot Nats rout Rays 15-6
WASHINGTON (AP) — Trea Turner completed his record-tying third career cycle by hitting a sixth-inning triple for the Washington Nationals on Wednesday, accomplishing the feat on his 28th birthday in a 15-6 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays. The speedy shortstop became the fifth player in major league history with three cycles, joining Adrian Beltre, Babe Herman, Bob Meusel and John Reilly, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. He also scored four times in the victory, which sealed a two-game sweep as well as Washington’s fourth straight win and 14th in its last 17 games. Turner singled in the first off Tampa Bay opener Drew Rasmussen, doubled in the third against Ryan Sherriff (0-1), then hit his 14th homer in the fourth off Michael Wacha. Two innings later, Turner hit a ball into the right-field corner and beat second baseman Mike Brosseau's throw to third with a headfirst slide. Jon Lester (2-3) allowed five runs on seven hits over five innings, striking out three and walking two. ANGELS... [More]
Sun Jun 27 202116:50Indians outfielder Naylor carted off field after collision
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Cleveland Indians right fielder Josh Naylor was carted off the field on a stretcher after colliding with rookie second baseman Ernie Clement during Sunday's game in Minnesota. Naylor and Clement converged in shallow right on a popup by Jorge Polanco in the fourth inning. Naylor went sailing in the air after the collision and his right foot got caught underneath him, twisting his foot the wrong way. Naylor immediately called for medical attention and appeared to be in serious pain while writhing on the ground. After being attended to for several minutes, Naylor was put in an air cast and left on a cart. The ball glanced off Clement's glove for a single. Clement was playing his seventh game in the majors. Naylor, 24, has hit .253 with seven home runs and 21 RBIs in his first full season with Cleveland after being acquired in a trade from the San Diego Padres. He was replaced in the outfield by Bradley Zimmer. ___ More AP baseball: https://apnews.com/hub/MLB and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports
