Mon Mar 27 202318:00Chad Pinder Signs Minor-League Deal With Nationals
Free-agent utilityman Chad Pinder signed a minor-league deal with the Washington Nationals on Monday, according to a source. Pinder was recently released by the Cincinnati Reds and quickly finds a new landing spot. He really struggled in Cactus League action with the Reds, going 4-for-39 (.103) with two doubles, one RBI, four runs scored and nine strikeouts in 15 games played. The 30-year-old could have a decent shot to make the big-league roster at some point in 2023 with the rebuilding Nats, but he should be expected to open the season in the minors. In 111 games with the Oakland Athletics last year, Pinder hit .235/.263/.385 with a .648 OPS, 12 home runs, 42 RBI and 38 runs scored in 379 plate appearances. Ignore him in fantasy.

Tue Jan 31 202300:44Reds Agree To Minor-League Deal With Chad Pinder
MLB.com's Mark Sheldon reported Monday that the Cincinnati Reds have agreed to a minor-league contract with free-agent utilityman Chad Pinder. The deal would include an invitation to big-league camp as a non-roster player. The 30-year-old spent most of his time in the outfield in 2022 with the A's, but he also saw time at first and third base. The Reds currently have an opening at third base, so Pinder would likely be competing for playing time at that position. Offensively, Pinder slashed .235/.263/.385 with 12 home runs and 42 RBI in 379 plate appearances. It sounds as though the Reds may still be looking to bring in additional players, and Pinder's recent offensive production has not been so great that he would be fantasy relevant even if he were to see somewhat regular playing time.

Thu Jun 9 202218:39Chad Pinder Out With Neck Stiffness
Oakland Athletics outfielder Chad Pinder (neck) is out of the starting lineup on Thursday against the Cleveland Guardians due to neck stiffness. However, manager Mark Kotsay said Pinder will be available off the bench, so his injury doesn't sound overly serious. Pinder had been in the starting lineup in each of the team's last six games, but he'll start on the bench Thursday. In his absence, Tony Kemp is getting the start in left field and is batting leadoff against Guardians left-hander Konnor Pilkington. Kemp will see extra at-bats in the leadoff spot, but he's gone just 3-for-16 (.188) with no home runs and an RBI in five games over the last week, and he has just one homer and nine RBI on the year in 53 games.

Wed Apr 13 202216:09Chad Pinder Batting Leadoff On Wednesday
Oakland Athletics outfielder Chad Pinder is slotting in as the team's leadoff hitter for Wednesday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays. This will be his first leadoff opportunity of the year. The Rays will have left-hander Shane McClanahan on the mound. The right-handed Pinder has slashed .264/.332/.457 against lefties across his career. He's also off to a nice start to the 2022 season. Over five games, he's slashed .263/.263/.684 with two home runs and two doubles. He's a worthy DFS play for Wednesday's slate. He should get several at-bats, especially if the Athletics offense remains hot. The team has scored 21 runs over the last two games.

Wed Sep 29 202112:55Chad Pinder Homers In Loss To Mariners On Tuesday
Oakland Athletics outfielder Chad Pinder went 1-for-4 with a solo homer in a loss at the Mariners on Tuesday. Pinder has now hit safely in four straight games as he's been one of the few A's hitting well as the season winds to a close. He only has five homers on the season to go with a .242 batting average, so Pinder isn't much of a fantasy option in redraft leagues. He did, however, bat second in this game as Starling Marte (lat) remains sidelined with a lat injury. If Pinder is in the two-hole moving forward he is a sneaky-DFS play for a low salary.

Tue Sep 21 202110:59Chad Pinder Scores Run In Loss To Mariners On Monday
Oakland Athletics outfielder Chad Pinder went 1-for-3 with a run scored in a loss to Seattle on Monday night. Pinder has been rotating playing time between right field, left field, and second base and hasn't been getting enough at-bats to justify a roster spot in fantasy. When he does play, he's slashing just .233/.294/.372 with just three homers and one steal on the season. He's a nice utility player for Oakland, but fantasy managers can continue to ignore Pinder on waivers.

Thu Aug 19 202116:05Chad Pinder Could Return On Friday
Oakland Athletics infielder/outfielder Chad Pinder (hamstring) could return as early as Friday. It sounds like the veteran utility man will play one final game in Triple-A on Thursday to finish up his rehab assignment. Pinder has been sidelined since early July due to a lingering hamstring issue. He wasn't much of a fantasy asset when healthy, but the Athletics would certainly love to have him back in their lineup. Fantasy managers can continue ignoring Pinder.

Fri Aug 13 202120:46Chad Pinder Starting Rehab Assignment Sunday
Oakland Athletics infielder/outfielder Chad Pinder (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment on Sunday, Athletics manager Bob Melvin said. Melvin expects him to play five games with Triple-A Las Vegas. Pinder has been on the 10-day injured list since July 8 after straining his right hamstring. The news doesn't affect most fantasy leagues, as Pinder has almost no fantasy relevance. He is hitting .216 with a .358 slugging, three home runs, and no stolen bases across 46 games.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Ke’Bryan Hayes hastily missed first base and was called out after hitting a first-inning homer, sending Walker Buehler on his way to seven scoreless innings as the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-3 Tuesday night. The Pirates star rookie stung an opposite-field line drive in the first inning against Buehler that narrowly cleared the right-field wall, just inside the foul pole. Running hard and with his eyes on the ball, Hayes missed touching first base with his left foot by two or three inches and kept on going. Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts challenged, and umpires overturned the call after a short video review. Buehler (5-0) retired his last 13 batters and had two hits to raise his career batting average to .124. He allowed two hits, struck out two and walked one while throwing 93 pitches. Pirates rookie JT Brubaker (4-5) shut out the Dodgers through four innings but did not make it out of the fifth, when Los Angeles scored three times. Kenley Jansen... [More]
