LOS ANGELES (AP) — Montrezl Harrell did not make the trip lightly when he moved down the Staples Center hallway last weekend to join the Los Angeles Lakers. The NBA's reigning Sixth Man of the Year realizes the gravity of his decision to leave the Los Angeles Clippers after three seasons — and to leave them for their bigger, more successful intra-city rivals, no less. The decision turned out to be surprisingly simple, though. According to Harrell, the NBA champion Lakers made it clear they badly wanted him in the opening minutes of free agency. The Clippers did not. “If you spend your career in any place long enough, you're going to want to continue playing there and growing there,” Harrell said Monday. “Of course, I still have great respect for those guys and for that organization. (AP) — Longtime Sacramento Kings TV broadcaster Grant Napear resigned Tuesday after he tweeted “ALL LIVES MATTER” when asked by DeMarcus Cousins for his opinion on the Black Lives Matter movement.The 60-year-old Napear also was fired by KTHK Sports 1140 in Sacramento. F Matt Barnes pleaded guilty Tuesday to disorderly conduct stemming from an incident at a New York nightclub but avoided jail time. Barnes was ordered to perform 10 days of community service and was allowed to complete the work in California. "Mr. Barnes was cleared of criminal wrongdoing and has agreed to accept responsibility for the violation," Barnes' attorney, Alex Spiro, told USA TODAY Sports. "He readily welcomed the opportunity to give his time to juvenile justice issues in California." The charges stem from an incident Dec. 5 when Barnes was a member of the Kings. Barnes and then-Kings star DeMarcus Cousins were part of the incident in the nightclub. Video footage attained by police appeared to show Barnes as the assailant. Three people were assaulted in the incident. Two women reported being choked by Barnes and a man was sucker-punched when he rushed to the aid of one of the women.
