Wed Mar 2 201113:43Weglarz was limited with back spasms
Indians head athletic trainer Lonnie Soloff said Wednesday that prospect outfielder Nick Weglarz was held out of the early part of the exhibition schedule due to back spasms.
Weglarz first felt the symptoms because of a collision in the outfield during winter ball, so the Indians have treated him conservatively this spring. He's now available to play in games. The 23-year-old batted .285/390/.503 with 13 homers and 47 RBI between Double-A Akron and Triple-A Columbus last season and was recently ranked as the organization's No. 5 prospect by Baseball America.
