Thu Aug 31 202314:33Greg Allen Signs Minor-League Deal With Brewers
The Milwaukee Brewers signed free-agent outfielder Greg Allen to a minor-league deal on Thursday. He will report to Triple-A Nashville. The club also acquired outfielder Chris Roller from the Cleveland Guardians exchange for cash considerations. Allen became a free agent last week after being cut by the New York Yankees. The 30-year-old switch-hitter hit .217 (5-for-23) with a home run, one RBI and three stolen bases in his 22 games for the Yankees. He'll strictly serve as minor-league outfield depth for the first-place Brewers. In seven big-leagues seasons, Allen has slashed .231/.300/.340 with 11 home runs, 68 RBI and 48 stolen bases in 304 games played.

Sat Jul 15 202312:30Greg Allen Begins Rehab Assignment
New York Yankees outfielder Greg Allen (hip) took live at-bats against lefty Nestor Cortes on July 9 at Yankee Stadium and began a minor-league rehab assignment with Single-A Tampa on Friday. He was expected to miss six to eight weeks after suffering a right hip-flexor strain on June 2. Allen was placed on the 10-day injured list the following day on June 3. The 30-year-old may only need a couple of rehab games before being activated from the injured list, which means he could return as major-league outfield depth for the Yankees by next week. Allen carries very little fantasy appeal when he's healthy. He was hitting .214 (3-for-14) with a home run, triple, an RBI, one stolen base and five runs scored in 10 games at the time of his injury.

Sat Jun 3 202323:49Greg Allen Lands On 10-Day Injured List
New York Yankees outfielder Greg Allen (hip) landed on the 10-day injured list on Saturday. He's dealing with a right hip flexor strain, an injury he suffered during Friday's meeting with the Los Angeles Dodgers. However, Allen's absence isn't a significant loss for most fantasy managers, considering he's hitting .214 with five runs, three hits, and one home run in 10 games. He'll undergo further testing on Monday. But to fill the void, the Yankees recalled Oswaldo Cabrera from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Sat May 20 202300:37Greg Allen Returning To Yankees Via Trade With Boston
The Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees agreed to a deal which will send outfielder Greg Allen to the Bronx on Friday. It's a rare exchange made between the division rivals. Allen primarily affords New York with added outfield depth as well as a pinch-running option. The switch-hitter figures to factor in very little from a fantasy perspective even with a bit of an opening in left field for the Bombers. It's worth mentioning Allen hit .270 with a .417 on-base percentage in a brief 15-game stint with the Yankees back in 2021. The speedy center fielder should be left on waivers, however, without a clear path to playing time at this juncture.

Wed Jan 11 202320:04Greg Allen Agrees With Red Sox On Minor-League Deal
The Boston Red Sox agreed with free-agent outfielder Greg Allen on a minor-league deal on Wednesday that includes an invitation to major-league spring training, according to a source. Allen didn't make his 2022 season debut until the second half of the season due to a hamstring, and he finished with a weak .186/.260/.271 slash line with only two home runs, eight RBI, 17 runs scored and eight stolen bases in 46 games for the Pittsburgh Pirates. The 29-year-old switch-hitter will strictly provide Boston with outfield depth if he sticks around with the organization. Allen is a career .232/.299/.336 hitter with a .635 OPS and 10 home runs in six big-league seasons. His greatest asset is probably his speed, as he's swiped 45 bases in 282 games played.

Thu Apr 7 202211:41Greg Allen Placed On 60-Day Injured List
The Pittsburgh Pirates placed outfielder Greg Allen (hamstring) on the 60-day injured list on Thursday. Right-handed pitcher Adonis Medina has also been designated for assignment. Allen suffered a hamstring injury in a Grapefruit League game last Sunday against the Tampa Bay Rays and will be on the shelf to open the 2022 campaign. He will miss at least the first two months of the season after slashing .294/.538/.765 with two home runs, a triple, seven runs, four RBI and four stolen bases in spring training. The 29-year-old played in 15 games with the New York Yankees last year and hit .270 with no homers, two RBI and five stolen bases in 48 plate appearances.

Sun Apr 3 202214:55Greg Allen Suffers Hamstring Injury
Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Greg Allen (hamstring) was removed early from Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Tampa Bay Rays. He was experiencing left hamstring discomfort. The injury occurred after he scored on a sacrifice fly in the second inning of the game. According to Pirates beat writer Jason Mackey, Allen is being examined by the team and he is being considered day-to-day. The 29-year-old is likely to be a reserve outfielder with the Pirates this year. Known for his speed, he's compiled 37 stolen bases over 236 games in the majors.

Wed Jul 28 202120:54Yankees star Aaron Judge a late scratch vs Rays
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — New York Yankees star Aaron Judge was scratched from the starting lineup about 30 minutes before the start of Wednesday night's game at Tampa Bay. Although there was no announcement on why Judge was taken out of the lineup, he pinch-hit in the fifth inning and struck out. The right fielder was reinstated from the COVID-19 injured list before Tuesday night's game with the Rays and went 1 for 4. He also was hit by a pitch in the Yankees' 4-3 win. Judge, placed on the IL on July 16, appeared in the dugout with his helmet in the fifth. Estevan Florial was called back from the on-deck circle after Greg Allen doubled, which advanced Gio Urshela to third with no outs, and the Yankees trailing 1-0. Judge struck out swinging on a 3-2 pitch from Michael Wacha. He remained in the game in right field. ___ More AP MLB: https://apnews.com/hub/MLB and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports

Wed Feb 24 202111:44Yankees finalize deals for Brett Gardner, Justin Wilson
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Brett Gardner and the New York Yankees have finalized a $5.15 million, one-year contract for the outfielder to return for a 14th season. New York also finalized its deal with left-hander Justin Wilson on Tuesday that also could be worth $5.15 million for two seasons. Both deals are likely to be worth $4 million for one season but had complicated structures that could lower their 2021 evaluation for the luxury tax. To clear roster spots, right-hander Luis Severino was put on the 60-day injured list as he recovers from Tommy John surgery last Feb. 27, and outfielder Greg Allen was designated for assignment. Gardner gets a $1 million signing bonus payable within 30 days of approval by the commissioner's office and a $1.85 million salary this year. His agreement includes a $2.3 million player option for 2022. If Gardner declines the option, the Yankees would have a $7.15 million option for 2022 with a $1.15 million buyout. The 37-year outfielder is the last player remaining... [More]
