NEW YORK (AP) — Philadelphia Phillies right fielder Bryce Harper exited Friday night's game against the New York Mets with after he was hit on the right hand by a pitch from Mets starter Steven Matz in the third inning.Harper, batting with one out and a runner on third, was ahead in the count 1-0 when Matz's 93 mph fastball sailed up and in on him. Harper recoiled and the ball ricocheted off his hand.The 26-year-old fell to his knees and gripped his hand in pain before getting to his feet and walking back to the plate, where Mets catcher Wilson Ramos appeared to ask Harper how he was doing. Harper put his head on Ramos' shoulder before Ramos, a former teammate with the Washington Nationals, patted him on the shoulder.After a brief visit from a trainer and manager Gabe Kapler, Harper trotted to first base. ATLANTA (AP) — The New York Mets placed All-Star Jeff McNeil on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday and recalled infielder Rubén Tejada from Triple-A Syracuse.Mets manager Mickey Callaway said McNeil suffered a "fairly mild" left hamstring strain when trying to beat out an infield grounder in the ninth inning of Tuesday night's 5-3 loss to the Atlanta Braves."That is good news," Callaway said. "The bottom line is we're still going to miss him. We need some other guys to step up."McNeil, the Mets' leadoff hitter, is batting .332 with 15 homers and 55 RBIs. This is his second IL stint with a left hamstring injury this season. He missed about two weeks, from May 23 to June 4, with his previous injury.Callaway said it's too soon to know if McNeil might miss more than 10 days this time.The loss of McNeil comes as New York is competing for a playoff spot. SEATTLE (AP) — Mike Leake of the Seattle Mariners lost his bid to pitch a perfect game on a leadoff single in the ninth inning by rookie Luis Rengifo, then finished off the Los Angeles Angels for a 10-0 win Friday night.A week after the worst start of his career, Leake almost achieved baseball immortality.The Angels hadn't come close to a hit and Leake hadn't gone to a three-ball count before Rengifo grounded a clean hit to right field on Leake's 79th pitch.The fans gave Leake a standing ovation and he quickly waved to acknowledge their cheers.After a walk, Leake (8-8) retired the next three batters for a one-hitter, striking out Mike Trout on a full-count pitch to end it. NEW YORK (AP) — New York Mets right-hander Jacob Rhame has been suspended for two games for sailing two fastballs over the head of Rhys Hoskins during a tense series with the Phillies.The commissioner's office also fined Rhame on Thursday for what it said were intentional near-beanings.The suspension is scheduled to begin Friday, when the Mets host the Milwaukee Brewers, unless Rhame appeals.Hoskins got buzzed twice by Rhame with two outs in the ninth inning of New York's 9-0 victory Tuesday, a day after two Mets got plunked. "We're glad to have his leadership in the clubhouse. It's always more fun with Todd around on the bench in the clubhouse, during the game. A guy you can plug into the middle of the lineup and he's got a chance to go hit you a homer.
