Wed Nov 15 202314:26Adam Plutko Eyeing MLB Return
Former Cleveland Guardians pitcher Adam Plutko is eyeing a return to the big leagues after spending the last two seasons with LG of the KBO. His stint overseas was a big success as the right-hander worked to a 2.39 ERA across 28 starts in the 2022 season before tossing a 2.41 ERA in 21 starts in the 2023 campaign. Now 32, Plutko has been unable to maintain success in the big leagues. He most recently worked to a 6.71 ERA across 38 appearances with the Orioles in the 2021 season and owns a 5.39 ERA across 88 MLB outings (37 starts), most of which came as a member of the Guardians. A successful return from the KBO to the big leagues isn't without precedence as the right-hander should be able to garner some interest following his work overseas.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Kyle Schwarber homered twice, becoming the first player in major league history to hit 15 home runs in a 17-day span, and the Washington Nationals beat the New York Mets 8-4 on Monday night. Sat Jun 5 202117:04Orioles' ace Means departs in first with shoulder fatigue
BALTIMORE (AP) — Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher John Means left Saturday’s game against the Cleveland Indians after two outs because of left shoulder fatigue. The left-hander allowed solo home runs to César Hernández and Harold Ramírez, then Eddie Rosario's two-out single. Manager Brandon Hyde then came to the mound along with head athletic trainer Brian Ebel, and Means exited the game. Adam Plutko replaced Means, who threw a no-hitter at Seattle on May 5. Means entered 4-1 with a 2.05 ERA that rose to 2.28. He had gone at least five innings in all but one of 11 starts this season. His ERA at the start of the day ranked second in the American League, while his .173 opponents’ batting average was third in the league. ___ More AP MLB: https://apnews.com/hub/MLB and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports

Sun Apr 4 202103:17Feisty Reds top Cardinals 9-6 for 1st win of season
CINCINNATI (AP) — Nick Castellanos stood over, flexed and jawed at St. Louis pitcher Jake Woodford after scoring, setting off a series of scuffles that included relievers shoving in the outfield as the Cincinnati Reds beat the Cardinals 9-6 Saturday. St. Louis starter Adam Wainwright was knocked around for six runs and chased in the third. The next inning, the teams started tagging each other. Castellanos, who homered on opening day and hopped out of the box before tossing his bat, was plunked by Woodford with two outs and none on in the fourth. Castellanos retrieved the ball and offered to toss it back to Woodford before flipping it out of play. A wild pitch soon sent Castellanos scampering home from third and he scored with a headfirst slide for a 7-2 lead as he bumped into Woodford, who took the throw from catcher Yadier Molina at the plate. As Castellanos began walking away, Molina rushed up and tapped him from behind, and the benches and bullpens emptied in a wild scene. There was... [More]

Sun Mar 28 202115:15LHP Allen makes Cleveland's roster, role still undecided
CLEVELAND (AP) — Logan Allen earned a spot on Cleveland's opening day roster, but the left-hander's exact role is still not quite finalized. President of Baseball Operations Chris Antonetti said Sunday that Allen, Triston McKenzie and Cal Quantrill all made the club's roster, with their spots all but assured when the Indians traded right-hander Adam Plutko to the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday. Antonetti said Allen, who came to Arizona in great physical shape, will pitch in the Indians' fourth game — the home opener on April 5 — but the team is still working through how he'll be used. “We could consider using an opener and then have Logan come in behind him, or just have Logan start the game,” Antonetti said. Cy Young Award winner Shane Bieber will pitch the season opener on Thursday followed by Zach Plesac and Aaron Civale. The Indians have three days off in the season's first week, so their pitching plans are still fluid. Allen, who came to the Indians as part of a three-team trade in... [More]
