Tue Jan 17 202317:01Reds Sign Richie Martin To Minor-League Deal
The Cincinnati Reds signed free-agent shortstop Richie Martin to a minor-league deal on Tuesday with an invitation to major-league spring training. Martin comes to the Reds after playing only 13 games at the major-league level for the Baltimore Orioles in 2022. He went 5-for-30 with no homers, three RBI, four runs scored and three stolen bases. The 28-year-old has played in three MLB seasons, all with the Orioles, and has a career slash line of just .212/.261/.311 with a .572 OPS, seven home runs, 34 RBI, 42 runs scored and 13 stolen bases in 170 games. He'll have a better shot at sticking in the big leagues with the rebuilding Reds, but even if he does, he'll be well off the fantasy radar in most leagues.

Baltimore Orioles shortstop Richie Martin (wrist) has been activated from the injured list ahead of their game against the New York Yankees on Monday. The 26-year-old hasn't played at the MLB level since 2019 and has most recently missed over two months because of a broken left wrist. Martin doesn't hold much fantasy value with just one solid season in the majors under his belt, and given his battles with injuries over the years, managers can move past him for now.
