Sun Mar 2412:09Miguel Andujar Needs Surgery For Torn Meniscus
Oakland Athletics outfielder Miguel Andujar (knee) will be forced to open the season on the 15-day injured list. Andujar felt discomfort in his right leg while playing left field in a Cactus League game last week, and MRI results on Friday showed a torn meniscus in his right knee. He'll have surgery on March 27, and manager Mark Kotsay said that Andujar is looking at a recovery timeline of at least four to six weeks. It's a bummer for the A's and the 29-year-old, as he hit .357 with a 1.110 OPS and a team-high five home runs in 14 spring games. His absence to open the year now opens the door for No. 5 prospect Darell Hernaiz or non-roster spring standout Hoy Park to make the Opening Day roster. If everything goes well with Andujar's recovery, he could make his 2024 debut at some point in May.

Sat Apr 29 202310:20Pirates Bring Up Miguel Andujar
The Pittsburgh Pirates selected the contract of outfielder Miguel Andujar from Triple-A Indianapolis on Saturday and optioned infielder Drew Maggi to Double-A Altoona in a corresponding move. To make room on the 40-man roster, right-hander Wil Crowe (shoulder) was moved to the 60-day injured list. Maggi was also named the 27th man for Saturday's doubleheader against the Washington Nationals. Andujar is in right field and batting sixth in Game 1 of the twin bill against Nationals left-hander Patrick Corbin. The 28-year-old was hitting well in the minors, but the former Yankee is unlikely to see much playing time in Pittsburgh for however long he's up. In 36 games with the Yanks and Bucs in 2022, he hit .235 with a homer, 17 RBI and four stolen bases.

Fri Jan 20 202317:26Pirates Designate Miguel Andujar For Assignment
The Pittsburgh Pirates designated infielder Miguel Andujar for assignment on Friday to make room on the 40-man roster for the recently signed Andrew McCutchen. The former New York Yankee, Andujar appeared in only 36 games in 2022 (27 with the Yankees) and slashed .235/.257/.311 with a .568 OPS, one home runs, 17 RBI, 13 runs scored and four stolen bases in 140 plate appearances. The 27-year-old hit .297 with an .855 OPS, 27 home runs and 92 RBI in his first full big-league season in 2018 with the Yankees, but he's struggled to come anywhere near that mark since. If Andujar goes unclaimed on waivers, there's a good chance he could return to Pittsburgh's organization and serve as infield depth in 2023.

Tue Sep 27 202200:30Miguel Andujar Plates Run In Pirates Debut Monday
Pittsburgh Pirates corner infielder/outfielder Miguel Andujar went 1-for-3 with a single, an RBI, a walk, and a strikeout in Monday's 8-3 win over the Reds. The 27-year-old was claimed off waivers by the Pirates from the New York Yankees on Sunday. Andujar had some fantasy intrigue around him earlier in his career but never got the opportunity to consistently play with the Yankees. He has put together a poor .232/.257/.283 slash line in 105 big-league plate appearances this season but had a much better .285/.330/.487 slash line in 297 plate appearances with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Maybe Andujar will be able to finally generate some fantasy value in 2023 with the potential for consistent playing time.

Mon Sep 26 202217:59Miguel Andujar Hitting Third In Pirates Debut
Pittsburgh Pirates third baseman/outfielder Miguel Andujar is serving as the designated hitter and is batting third on Monday against the Cincinnati Reds and right-hander Chase Anderson in his Pirates debut. The Bucs claimed Andujar off waivers from the New York Yankees after he was designated for assignment late last week. The 27-year-old Dominican played in just 27 games for the Yankees this year and hit only .229 (22-for-96) with a homer and eight RBI, but he played well while in the minor leagues and could see considerable playing time to close out the 2022 season with his new team, making him worth a look in NL-only and deep mixed leagues.

Mon Sep 26 202211:03Pirates Claim Miguel Andujar Off Waivers From Yankees
The Pittsburgh Pirates claimed infielder/outfielder Miguel Andujar off waivers from the New York Yankees on Sunday. The Yankees designated Andujar for assignment last Thursday and will now land with a new organization to close out the 2022 season. Andujar has spent most of his time this year in the minor leagues, hitting .285/.330/.487 with an .817 OPS, 13 home runs, 51 RBI, 42 runs scored and five stolen bases in 71 games with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He played in just 27 games with the Yanks, going 22-for-96 (.229) with a homer, eight RBI, nine runs scored and four stolen bases. The 27-year-old Dominican should have a better chance of sticking in the big leagues with Pittsburgh.

Tue Aug 9 202215:04Matt Carpenter Goes On IL, Yankees Recall Miguel Andujar
The New York Yankees placed infielder Matt Carpenter (foot) on the 10-day injured list with a left foot fracture on Tuesday and recalled infielder/outfielder Miguel Andujar from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in a corresponding move. Andujar has logged 52 plate appearances in the majors this season and is hitting .245 with a .269 on-base percentage and three stolen bases. In 267 plate appearances with New York's Triple-A affiliate this season, he's batting .293 with a .337 on-base percentage, 12 home runs and five stolen bases. Capable of playing third base, first base and left field, the 27-year-old will provide the Yankees with some additional depth at multiple positions. Carpenter will be out for the foreseeable future and may not be able to return again during the regular season in 2022.

Sat Jun 4 202214:10Miguel Andujar Has Requested A Trade
New York Yankees third baseman Miguel Andujar has requested a trade from the team, according to Ken Rosenthal. Rosenthal added that this is not the first time that the 27-year-old has asked for a trade due to his "lack of consistent opportunity." Andujar was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday and is batting .268/.279/.317 with no home runs and three RBI over 41 at-bats on the year. The Yankees are unlikely to fetch a decent haul for the third baseman if they are even able to find a trade partner.

Fri Jun 3 202223:53Miguel Andujar Heading To Minors
New York Yankees third baseman Miguel Andujar has been optioned to Triple-A on Friday. He went 1-for-5 during Friday's victory over the Detroit Tigers. Afterwards, the Yankees decided it was time to send him back to the minors. He was hitting .268/.279/.317 with no homers, three RBI in 12 games. The organization hasn't made a corresponding move, but possibly Andujar going down means Josh Donaldson is back. Fantasy managers should get that answer on Saturday morning.

Thu Jun 2 202211:39Miguel Andujar Sitting In Game 1 Thursday
New York Yankees outfielder Miguel Andujar is not in the starting lineup for Game 1 of the doubleheader against the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday. Andujar will take a seat after starting each of the team's last seven games in left field. The 27-year-old Dominican doesn't have any homers to speak of this year, but he's been solid for the Yankees in his 32 at-bats, going 9-for-32 (.281) with two RBI, two runs and two stolen bases in nine games played. If he continues to play well, he should continue to play regularly in the Yankees lineup, at least until Giancarlo Stanton (ankle) returns from the injured list. Aaron Hicks is playing left field in Game 1 and is hitting seventh against Angels right-hander Shohei Ohtani.

Mon May 2 202211:40Miguel Andujar Optioned To Minors Sunday
The New York Yankees optioned infielder Miguel Andujar and right-hander Clarke Schmidt to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday to get the team down to a 26-man roster for Monday. Andujar went 2-for-4 with a run scored in the win over the Kansas City Royals on Sunday, while Schmidt earned the win after throwing a scoreless sixth inning. Schmidt will likely be stretched out in the minors, while Andujar will continue to provide versatile infield depth if he's recalled by the Yankees at any point. Andujar has played in just two games for the Yankees this year and is 2-for-5 with a run scored. Schmidt has allowed just one earned run while walking four and striking out eight in 8 1/3 relief innings over four appearances.

Fri Mar 11 202214:28Miguel Andujar Assaulted, Robbed In Dominican Republic
New York Yankees outfielder/infielder Miguel Andujar was assaulted and robbed at gunpoint at his farm in the Dominican Republic on Wednesday, according to multiple reports. The 27-year-old is no longer in danger, but he had an expensive watch stolen from him while bullets were fired. Andujar was not shot and is expected to report to Yankees camp on Sunday. Andujar took over as the team's starting third baseman in 2018 and finished second in the American League Rookie of the Year voting after hitting .297 with 27 home runs, 92 RBI and an .855 OPS in 149 games. Since that big year, though, he's played in just 78 games in the last three seasons and has hit .228 with seven home runs and 18 RBI in that span, mainly due to injuries.

Sun Aug 29 202121:31Miguel Andujar May Not Return This Season
New York Yankees infielder/outfielder Miguel Andujar (wrist) is not guaranteed to make a return in 2021, Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters on Sunday. Andujar is currently rehabbing from a strained left wrist but suffered a setback and was transferred to the 60-day IL on Monday. Andujar doesn't have much fantasy value, slashing .253/.284/.383 with six home runs in 45 games this year. His past few campaigns have been disappointing compared to his rookie 2018 season when he posted a .855 OPS, and there isn't much to suggest that he will ever get to that point again.

Tue Aug 17 202115:43Miguel Andujar To Begin Rehab
New York Yankees infielder/outfielder Miguel Andujar (wrist) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, according to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com. Andujar has been on the injured list since July 10 after spraining his left wrist. It's unclear how many games he will play, but it's good news and means he won't be out much longer. Andujar's having another poor season in limited action, slashing .253/.284/.383 with six home runs in 45 games. His value in fantasy has disappeared ever since his rookie year in 2018, and it doesn't seem like that will change much once he's back.

Thu Aug 5 202116:15Miguel Andujar Taking Grounders Thursday
New York Yankees infielder/outfielder Miguel Andujar (wrist) was fielding grounders at third base ahead of Thursday's contest against the Mariners. Andujar has been sidelined since July 6 with a strained left wrist and remains without a timetable for his return, though it's encouraging to see him raise his activity level. The 26-year-old put together a solid stretch of play in early June, though his overall slash line of .253/.284/.383 leaves much to be desired. Even when healthy, Andujar can't be expected to make too many starts for New York with Joey Gallo and Giancarlo Stanton entrenched in left field and Gio Urshela (hamstring) starting at third when active.
