Sat Mar 1612:18Keynan Middleton To Start The Year On Injured List
St. Louis Cardinals right-handed reliever Keynan Middleton (forearm) has a forearm strain and will be shut down from throwing for at least 10 days. It means that he'll start the 2024 regular season on the injured list. The Cardinals are planning to be without him for at least a couple of weeks into the season in April. The 30-year-old signed a one-year, $6 million deal with the team last month after he pitched for both the Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees in 2023, posting a decent 3.38 ERA, a 1.24 WHIP, two saves and 64 strikeouts in 50 2/3 relief innings. When healthy, Middleton can be valuable in deep holds leagues as a late-inning setup man for the Cardinals alongside Andrew Kittredge and Giovanny Gallegos in front of closer Ryan Helsley.

Wed Feb 2116:31Keynan Middleton To Throw Live Batting Practice Session
St. Louis Cardinals right-hander Keynan Middleton (illness) is scheduled to throw a live batting practice session at camp on Wednesday. Middleton is entering his first year with the Cardinals after signing with them in free agency for one year and $5 million, but he reported to camp late and was also held back last week by a stomach bug. The 30-year-old reliever is feeling better now and will be ready for Opening Day at the end of March. While Middleton probably isn't going to see many save chances, if any at all, he could be useful in fantasy leagues that award points for holds, as he should serve in a key late-inning setup role. The former third-round pick of the Angels in 2013 had a 3.38 ERA and 1.24 WHIP with two saves and a career-high 64 strikeouts in 50 2/3 innings for the White Sox and Yankees in 2023.

Wed Feb 1416:37Keynan Middleton Dealing With Stomach Bug
St. Louis Cardinals right-hander Keynan Middleton (illness) is dealing with a stomach bug and won't be in camp with the team on Wednesday, according to president of baseball operations John Mozeliak. Middleton should recover in a day or two and rejoin the rest of the team's pitchers in spring training as they ramp up for the start of the 2024 regular season. The 30-year-old reliever should operate in a middle-relief role this year in his first campaign with the Cardinals, but he's not going to have much fantasy value, if any at all. He spent 2023 with the Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees, going 2-2 with a 3.38 ERA (4.20 FIP) and a 1.24 WHIP with two saves, 23 walks and a career-high 64 strikeouts in 50 2/3 relief innings.

Fri Feb 200:14Cardinals Sign Keynan Middleton
Free agent reliever Keynan Middleton has agreed to a contract with the St. Louis Cardinals, according to Robert Murray of FanSided. The 30-year-old split 2023 with the White Sox and Yankees, posting a 3.26 xFIP, 11.37 K/9, and 56.5 percent ground ball rate over 51 appearances. On a less positive note, he struggled with walks (4.09 BB/9) and home runs (1.42 HR/9). Nevertheless, Middleton has repeatedly proven himself as a strong bullpen option, which makes him a great fit for the Cardinals. After all, St. Louis has repeatedly emphasized a desire to bolster its bullpen this winter, adding the likes of Middleton and Andrew Kittredge while also being linked to Ryan Brasier.

Tue Sep 12 202312:55Ian Hamilton, Keynan Middleton Could Return On Homestand
New York Yankees relief pitcher Ian Hamilton (groin) could be activated from the 15-day injured list during the series against the Pittsburgh Pirates that begins this Friday, while reliever Keynan Middleton (shoulder) is a little behind Hamilton and may not return until next week during the homestand against the Toronto Blue Jays. Hamilton is trying to return from a right-groin strain and may not even need a minor-league rehab appearance before rejoining New York's bullpen. The 28-year-old has a nice 2.24 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, two saves and 64 K's in 52 1/3 innings this year over 35 games (three starts). Middleton is eligible to return from the IL on Sept. 19. The 30-year-old has a 3.08 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, two saves and 64 K's in 49 2/3 relief innings with the Yankees and Chicago White Sox in 2023.

Wed Aug 2 202300:10Keynan Middleton Traded To Yankees Tuesday
The Chicago White Sox completed a trade to send relief pitcher Keynan Middleton to the New York Yankees for Minor League starter Juan Carela minutes before the trade deadline Tuesday. Middleton should provide bullpen depth for the Yankees and had compiled a 3.96 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, and 30.1% strikeout rate in 39 appearances for the White Sox. Carela was ranked as the Yankees' No. 29 prospect by MLB Pipeline and had spent the season at High-A Hudson Valley. While Middleton should help the Yankees down the stretch, neither player offers much fantasy value at this time.

Sat Jul 29 202314:42Keynan Middleton Might Be Traded Before Deadline
According to Jon Morosi of the MLB Network, reliever Keynan Middleton may get moved ahead of the deadline. The 29-year-old right-hander has a 3.82 ERA with 46 strikeouts and two saves in 35 1/3 innings in 2023. But he will hit the open market in the offseason, so Chicago might not be finished making trades. Although Middleton hasn't been a productive fantasy asset this season, that could change depending on his future.

Mon Jun 26 202302:47Keynan Middleton Notches Second Save
Chicago White Sox reliever Keynan Middleton tossed a scoreless ninth inning to lock down a 4-1 victory over the Boston Red Sox, earning his second save in the process. Middleton didn't allow a baserunner and struck out one in his inning of work. He has been very solid this year, pitching to a 2.33 ERA and 1.11 WHIP with 36 strikeouts in 27 IP. It is likely that the job is still Kendall Graveman's to lose, but with him blowing his last two saves it may open up an opportunity for Middleton to vulture some saves. For now, though, he should only be added in deeper leagues as a speculative save option.

Thu May 4 202309:16Keynan Middleton Notches First Save
Chicago White Sox reliever Keynan Middleton walked one batter while striking out three over a scoreless inning to earn the save during Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Minnesota Twins. Middleton was called on for the save opportunity Wednesday with primary closer Liam Hendriks (illness) yet to pitch this season and Reynaldo Lopez (biceps) sidelined. The 29-year-old struck out three of the four batters he faced to earn his first save of the year. Middleton owns a 2.89 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, and a 17:4 K: BB across 9 1/3 innings in 2023. Fantasy managers searching for saves can add Middleton, who will handle closing duties for the White Sox until Lopez or Hendriks return.

Sun Sep 18 202214:29Keynan Middleton Lands On The 15-Day Injured List
Arizona Diamondbacks relief pitcher Keynan Middleton (toe) has been placed on the 15-day injured list with a sprained left great toe. The 29-year-old reliever will likely miss the rest of the season after appearing in just 17 innings and putting together a 5.29 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and 15:3 K/BB ratio. Luis Frias was recalled from Triple-A Reno in a corresponding move.

Wed Jul 27 202207:42Keynan Middleton Lands On 15-Day Injured List
The Arizona Diamondbacks placed relief pitcher Keynan Middleton (ankle) on the 15-day injured list due to a right ankle strain on Tuesday. In a corresponding move, the team called up fellow reliever Chris Devenski. Middleton has become quite familiar with the injured list this year as he missed a month and a half earlier this season due to right elbow inflammation. He's performed well when he's been healthy, pitching to a 1.64 ERA and a 0.73 WHIP across 12 appearances.

Wed Jun 1 202209:23Luke Weaver, Keynan Middleton To Make Rehab Outings Thursday
Arizona Diamondbacks right-handed pitchers Luke Weaver (elbow) and Keynan Middleton (elbow) are both scheduled to make rehab outings at Triple-A Reno on Thursday. Both players are on the injured list with right elbow inflammation. Weaver, who has been out since Opening Day, is expected to throw around three innings or 45 pitches on Thursday. Middleton, meanwhile, will only pitch an inning on Thursday. He's been on the shelf since mid-May.

Tue May 24 202211:26Keynan Middleton To Throw Bullpen This Week
Arizona Diamondbacks relief pitcher Keynan Middleton (elbow) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on May 27. Middleton went on the injured list on May 17 when he was feeling "a little bit of discomfort," according to manager Torey Lovullo. The skipper called it "the wear and tear of going out and executing at the high level that he was." The 28-year-old is working his way back, but he'll likely need at least an outing or two in the minor leagues before Arizona activates him from the IL. Middleton had allowed two earned runs while walking one and striking out five in 4 2/3 relief innings over six appearances before being sidelined with right elbow inflammation.

Fri Jun 11 202118:06Mariners get back reliever Graveman after COVID issue
CLEVELAND (AP) — Seattle Mariners reliever Kendall Graveman is back with the team after being on the injured list following a COVID-19 scare. The 30-year-old right-hander, who had been out since May 23, was activated Friday before the Mariners opened a three-game series against the Indians. Graveman spent two weeks quarantined in San Diego. Before he was sidelined, he had been one of the league's top relievers. He recorded five saves and did not allow a run in 16 2/3 innings over 14 appearances. Manager Scott Servais said he'll likely ease Graveman back into his usual role. He hasn't pitched in a major league game since May 16 — against Cleveland — and made just one rehab appearance for Triple-A Tacoma on June 8. The Mariners also activated right-hander Justin Dunn (shoulder) to start the series opener. He went on the injured list June 2 with inflammation. Relievers Yacksel Ríos and Keynan Middleton were optioned to Tacoma. ___ More AP MLB: https://apnews.com/MLB and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports
