NEW YORK (AP) — Jim Riggleman, a 66-year-old veteran of 13 seasons as a major league manager, has been hired by the New York Mets as bench coach for Mickey Callaway.Riggleman was Cincinnati's bench coach from 2016 until he became interim manager for 5½ months last season, and he led the Reds to a 64-80 record after the team's 3-15 start under Bryan Price. David Bell was hired by the Reds on Oct. 21.Riggleman, a native of Fort Dix, New Jersey, also managed the Chicago Cubs (1995-99), Seattle (2008) and Washington (2009-11). He has a 726-904 (.445) record as a big league manager.He replaces Gary DiSarcina, who is shifting to third base coach in a move announced earlier this month. CLEVELAND (AP) — Starling Marte, Gregory Polanco and Josh Bell each hit a two-run homer, and the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Cleveland Indians 9-4 on Tuesday night for their 11th straight win.The Pirates routed the Indians for the second straight night. Marte homered in the first inning, drove in three runs and extended his career-high hitting streak to 17 games.Polanco homered and Corey Dickerson tripled in two runs when Pittsburgh scored five times in the second. Bell hit a home run in the fifth. Crawford on the 10-day disabled list with a right forearm strain.Infielder Jesmuel Valentin was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Sunday to replace him on the 25-man roster.The 23-year-old Crawford says he lost feeling near his elbow after making a relay throw to third base in the fifth inning of Saturday's 4-1 loss to Atlanta. He was lifted for a pinch hitter in the bottom of the inning.Crawford says he's been feeling discomfort for a couple of days.
