Remember him? The 29-year-old right-hander spent 2006-'09 with the Tigers, posting a decent 4.24 ERA over 357 innings. Unfortunately, Miner missed all of the 2010 season following Tommy John surgery and has been working his way back ever since. Miner was 5-6 with a 3.90 ERA in 12 starts and 15 relief appearances on the farm. He'll function as a bullpen arm in Philly.

Zach Miner underwent Tommy John elbow surgery on Friday.
As a reliever, he should be back to full strength in a little under a year. "Everything went well and he's on his way back home to start his rehab," Tigers trainer Kevin Rand said after the procedure. "Our hope is that by him getting the surgery at this point that he will be either ready to go at the beginning of next year or shortly thereafter."

Tigers reliever Zach Miner is scheduled to undergo Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery on Friday in Los Angeles.
Miner met with noted orthopedist Dr. Lewis Yocum on Wednesday in L.A. and the major elbow procedure was recommended. The 28-year-old will try to work back to full health by the middle of next season.
