Mon Feb 1921:23Ryan O'Hearn To See Reps In Corner Outfield
Baltimore Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said that first baseman Ryan O'Hearn will be getting reps in the corner outfield at spring training. O'Hearn could see an occasional start in the outfield this year, but most of his playing time figures to come at first base and designated hitter. The 30-year-old left-handed slugger was in the strong side of a platoon at first for the O's in 2023 and impressed with a .289/.322/.480 slash line, .801 OPS, a career-high-tying 14 home runs, 22 doubles, a triple, 60 RBI, five stolen bases and 48 runs scored in a career-high 112 games in his first year with the team. O'Hearn hit the ball hard consistently and was mostly a surprise because of the fact that he cut down on his strikeout rate in his first year in Baltimore. He'll be an asset in deep-mixed and AL-only leagues, but betting on a repeat might be foolish.

Wed Feb 1415:22Ryan O'Hearn, Orioles Avoid Arbitration
The Baltimore Orioles and infielder/outfielder Ryan O'Hearn avoided salary arbitration on Wednesday by agreeing to a one-year, $3.5 million deal for the 2024 season that includes a $7.5 million club option for the 2025 season. O'Hearn will have escalators for his 2025 club option that include $500,000 for 120 games played and another $500,000 for 150 games played. This was the 30-year-old's final year of arbitration eligibility. After five years with the Kansas City Royals, he slashed an impressive .289/.322.480 with an .801 OPS, a career-high-tying 14 home runs, 60 RBI, five stolen bases and 48 runs scored in a career-high 112 games with the O's in 2023. O'Hearn is projected to see regular playing time between first base and designated hitter in 2024 against right-handed hurlers in 2024.

Tue Oct 10 202316:39Ryan O'Hearn Getting First Postseason Start Tuesday
Baltimore Orioles first baseman/designated hitter Ryan O'Hearn is getting his first career postseason start for Tuesday's Game 3 versus the Texas Rangers and right-hander Nathan Eovaldi. The lefty-swinging O'Hearn has gone hitless with a strikeout in a pair of pinch-hitting plate appearances in the ALDS but will get the starting nod at DH out of the five-hole on Tuesday. The 30-year-old turned out to be a big addition for the Orioles this season, hitting .289 with 14 home runs, five stolen bases, and an .802 OPS across 112 games. He hasn't fared well in a small sample versus Eovaldi, going 0-for-4 with three punchouts against the veteran right-hander in his career.

Sat Jul 15 202318:25Ryan O'Hearn Sitting Against Lefty
Baltimore Orioles first baseman Ryan O'Hearn will take a seat on Saturday against left-hander Braxton Garrett and the Miami Marlins. The sixth-year veteran is putting together his best season since 2018, slashing .312/.361/.532, but his 32 wRC+ off of southpaws has kept him in a platoon. Ryan Mountcastle is in the lineup instead, batting cleanup. The 26-year-old is batting .230 with 11 long balls, 34 runs, 40 RBI, and two steals across 62 games. He has the skill to be a real power threat, hitting 33 homers in 2021, and fantasy managers looking for home run help can turn to Mountcastle.

Wed Jun 7 202312:41Ryan O'Hearn Goes Deep In Loss To Brewers
Baltimore Orioles first baseman/designated hitter Ryan O'Hearn went 2-for-4 with a home run, an RBI and a run scored in the team's 4-3 extra-inning loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday night. It was nice to see O'Hearn clear the fences for the first time since May 20, and it was the 29-year-old's third home run of the campaign. The left-handed slugger is batting an impressive .302 on the year with 16 hits in 53 at-bats, and he's also gone an impressive 11-for-29 (.379) with four doubles, all three of his home runs, nine RBI and five runs scored in his last nine games since May 16. O'Hearn is mainly only playing against right-handed pitchers, but if he keeps hitting like this, he'll be a must-roster in all fantasy leagues.

The 29-year-old left-handed slugger played in 67 games for the Royals in 2022 and struggled to the tune of a .239/.290/.321 slash line with a .611 OPS, one home run, 16 RBI and 14 runs scored in 145 plate appearances. The Baltimore Orioles acquired infielder/outfielder Ryan O'Hearn from the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday in exchange for cash considerations. O'Hearn heads to the American League East division after four seasons with the Royals in which he hit .219/.293/.390 with a .683 OPS, 38 home runs, 131 RBI, 99 runs scored and 287 strikeouts in 1,071 plate appearances over 342 games played. He hit .239/.290/.321 with one homer, 16 RBI and 14 runs in 67 games last season before he was designated for assignment this offseason. The 29-year-old left-handed first baseman will give the O's some left-handed power depth entering the 2023 season.

The Kansas City Royals designated infielder Ryan O'Hearn for assignment on Wednesday to make room on the 40-man roster for right-hander Jordan Lyles, who recently signed a two-year deal with the club. Mon Sep 26 202211:49Ryan O'Hearn Picks Up Two RBI Sunday
Kansas City Royals first baseman Ryan O'Hearn went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI, a run scored and a walk in the 13-12 victory over the visiting Seattle Mariners on Sunday. O'Hearn isn't playing all that regularly in the final month of the 2022 regular season, but the 29-year-old left-handed hitter made his mark in this one. He has played in just 10 games in September, but he's gone 7-for-22 (.318) with two RBI and three runs scored in 23 plate appearances for KC. On the year, he's slashing just .230/.285/.310 with one homer, 13 RBI and 13 runs scored in 126 at-bats, making him rosterable only in AL-only formats to close out the year.

Tue Aug 17 202115:32Ryan O'Hearn Takes A Seat Tuesday
Kansas City Royals first baseman/outfielder Ryan O'Hearn is not in the lineup Tuesday to take on the Houston Astros. Emmanuel Rivera will take his spot, playing third base and batting eighth. Fantasy managers rostering him should change their lineup accordingly. Since the trade of Jorge Soler, O'Hearn has been getting the majority of reps in right field but has been a below-average hitter, slashing .240/.273/.427 and striking out 30.1% of the time. He also has nine home, 28 RBI, and 18 runs in 57 games. Although not relevant in most leagues, he does play every day and hit enough home runs to have significance in deep leagues.

Thu Aug 5 202109:49Ryan O'Hearn Homers And Drives In Three Runs
Kansas City Royals first baseman/designated hitter Ryan O'Hearn had a strong day at the plate against the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday. He went 1-for-2 with a walk, a home run and three RBI. The home run was his ninth of the year. O'Hearn has seen consistent playing time since the team traded away Jorge Soler at the trade deadline. He has regularly been hitting right in the heart of the team's lineup, starting at both first base and designated hitter. He has some clear power upside with an 11.7% barrel rate and 15.8 degree average launch angle on the year. However, he's hitting just .226 with a .236 xBA and needs to show more consistency before warranting serious fantasy consideration.
