Tue Apr 1619:07Eloy Jimenez In, Andrew Vaughn Out On Tuesday
Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez is back as the designated hitter and is batting third on Tuesday against the Kansas City Royals and right-hander Brady Singer, while first baseman Andrew Vaughn is getting the day off. Jimenez was activated from the injured list on Monday but wasn't in the starting lineup before getting a pinch-hit appearance later in the game. The White Sox are going to ease him back into the fold, but he could see more appearances in the outfield after starting there only 14 of 118 times in 2023. Vaughn has gone 1-for-16 in the last four games and 10-for-58 with no homers and three RBI to begin the year, so he's deserving of a rest. Gavin Sheets is at first base and is batting cleanup on Tuesday.

Tue Apr 1612:29Eloy Jimenez Could Play Outfield Again
Chicago White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said there was no recovery related reason for outfielder Eloy Jimenez not starting on Monday against the Kansas City Royals after he was activated from the injured list. Grifol said they are getting their cleanup hitter back but are also easing him back in after his groin injury. The 27-year-old could play some outfield again now that he's back, but Gavin Sheets will probably play the outfielder sooner. Jimenez had yet to play the outfield before his injury and started only 14 times in the outfield a year ago. It would be nice if Jimenez played enough outfield in 2024 to gain eligibility there for fantasy managers, but that's no guarantee. As long as Luis Robert Jr. (hip) remains sidelined, both Jimenez and Sheets should be lineup regulars for the Pale Hose.

Mon Apr 1517:09Eloy Jimenez Back From Injured List
The Chicago White Sox activated outfielder/designated hitter Eloy Jimenez (groin) from the 10-day injured list on Monday. Jimenez was taking balls in right field before Monday's contest against the visiting Kansas City Royals but is not in the starting lineup. In a corresponding move, the team optioned infielder Zach Remillard to Triple-A Charlotte. Jimenez hasn't played since suffering a left-groin strain on March 31, so the White Sox have chosen to have him start his first game back on the bench. With Luis Robert Jr. (hip) and Yoan Moncada (groin) out for extended time, Jimenez should play regularly now that he's back from the IL, which will make it more difficult for Gavin Sheets to see regular at-bats moving forward. The oft-injured Jimenez has played in 100-plus games in just two of his previous five MLB seasons.

Fri Apr 1218:28Eloy Jimenez To Ramp Up Activities
Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez (groin) will reportedly ramp up his running this week, according to general manager Chris Getz. The oft-injured outfielder has been sidelined since early April due to a groin issue. It's nice to hear that Jimenez is ramping up his activities, but it doesn't sound like he's ready to play again yet. The White Sox haven't given much of a timetable for Jimenez, but the expectation is that Jimenez is still a few weeks away. The expectation is that Robbie Grossman and Kevin Pillar will see more playing time until Jimenez is ready again.

Thu Apr 1116:16Eloy Jimenez Could Return This Weekend
Chicago White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said there's a possibility that outfielder Eloy Jimenez (groin) is able to come off the injured list to play this weekend. "He's getting close," Grifol said. "He feels better than yesterday, that day to day thing keeps coming up. But he feels better today than he did yesterday. [Friday] is a possibility. Everything is a possibility. We have to see where he's at and we'll have to see what we want to do as an organization in the short term and long term to make sure these things don't happen again." The 27-year-old is dealing with a left-groin strain, but with both Luis Robert Jr. (hip) and Yoan Moncada (groin) facing extended absences with injuries of their own, don't expect the White Sox to rush Jimenez back. Until Jimenez is able to return, veterans Robbie Grossman and Kevin Pillar will be in line for more playing time.

Fri Apr 514:32Eloy Jimenez Hits The Injured List
Chicago White Sox outfielder/designated hitter Eloy Jimenez (groin) has been placed on the 10-day injured list due to an adductor strain. In a corresponding move, outfielder Robbie Grossman was recalled from the minors. The move is retroactive to April 2. The oft-injured Jimenez injured himself running to first base on a ground ball on March 31 against the Detroit Tigers. The 27-year-old has struggled mightily to stay on the field in his big-league career, appearing in 84 games or less in two of his four full MLB seasons, with a career-high of 122 games played in his rookie 2019 campaign. He endured a career-worst season at the plate in 2023, hitting .272 with 18 homers, 64 RBI, and a .758 OPS across 120 games and 489 trips to the plate.

Thu Apr 416:06Eloy Jimenez Still Out Thursday
Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez (groin) remains out of the team's starting lineup on Thursday against the Kansas City Royals. This will be the fourth straight missed game for Jimenez, who tweaked his groin on Sunday. The White Sox have been optimistic that the 27-year-old will avoid a stint on the injured list, but if he cannot return this weekend, the team's tone could change. The left-handed-hitting Gavin Sheets will serve as the designated hitter again and bat cleanup on Thursday against Royals right-hander Seth Lugo. Sheets has only nine plate appearances on the year in four games and has a hit, an RBI and three strikeouts for the Pale Hose. He has never faced Lugo in his career.

Wed Apr 313:05Eloy Jimenez Could Do Some Running Wednesday
Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez (groin) is "better today" and could do some running, according to manager Pedro Grifol. "We haven't made a roster move because we feel there is a possibility (he could play in KC)," Grifol said. Jimenez suffered a minor left-groin injury on Sunday and is missing his third straight game in the series finale against the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday. However, the White Sox remain optimistic that he won't need to go on the injured list, and he could return for the series in Kansas City against the Royals that starts on Thursday. When the 27-year-old does return, it will likely be as the designated hitter to keep him off his feet as much as possible. Gavin Sheets has been the team's DH the last three games with Jimenez out of action.

Wed Apr 312:42Eloy Jimenez Absent Again Wednesday
Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez (groin) remains sidelined on Wednesday as the team takes on the visiting Atlanta Braves. The left-handed-hitting Gavin Sheets will make a third straight start at the team's designated hitter and is batting cleanup on Wednesday against Braves right-hander Spencer Strider. The White Sox are optimistic that the oft-injured Jimenez won't have to go on the injured list, but this is now his third straight missed game after he tweaked his groin in Sunday's game. The fact that the weather is cold and damp in Chicago probably is playing a part in the White Sox holding the 27-year-old out as a precaution, though. Fantasy managers will be hoping that Jimenez can return to the lineup this weekend when they face the Royals in Kansas City.

Tue Apr 216:11Eloy Jimenez Still Out Tuesday
Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez (groin) remains out of the starting lineup on Tuesday against the Atlanta Braves. Gavin Sheets is serving as the designated hitter again on Tuesday and is hitting cleanup for the Pale Hose against Braves right-hander Reynaldo Lopez. This is Jimenez's second straight missed game after he suffered a left-adductor injury on Sunday. After an MRI exam on Monday, the 27-year-old is being labeled as day-to-day, so hopefully the oft-injured Jimenez will be able to avoid the injured list and return to the lineup later this week. Sheets went 0-for-2 with a strikeout and hit by pitch on Monday and is still searching for his first hit of the season after five plate appearances. He has never faced Lopez in his career.

Mon Apr 119:15Eloy Jimenez Day-To-Day After MRI Exam
Chicago White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said that outfielder Eloy Jimenez (groin) is considered day-to-day after undergoing an MRI exam on Monday. For now, the team will play a man short. Jimenez injured his left-adductor muscle running out a ground ball on Sunday against the Detroit Tigers and didn't play in Monday's loss to the Atlanta Braves. For now, it looks like the oft-injured 27-year-old won't need an injured list stint, which is a nice surprise for his fantasy managers. If Jimenez misses any more time this week, expect Gavin Sheets to serve as the club's designated hitter if they are facing a right-handed pitcher. Jimenez is not only hurt but off to a slow start offensively after going 2-for-11 with two strikeouts in his first three games over the weekend.

Mon Apr 112:16Eloy Jimenez Not Playing Against Braves
Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez (groin) is not in the starting lineup on Monday against the Atlanta Braves. It shouldn't be a big surprise, as Jimenez is likely to land on the injured list after injuring his left adductor while running out a ground ball in Sunday's loss to the Detroit Tigers. The severity of the 27-year-old's injury is unknown, but Jimenez appears likely to miss at least 10 days. With Jimenez out on Monday, Gavin Sheets is serving as the designated hitter and batting fifth, while Dominic Fletcher is in right field and hitting ninth against Braves right-hander Charlie Morton. The oft-injured Jimenez is also off to a slow start at the plate so far this year, going 2-for-11 (.182) with two strikeouts in his first three games. Sheets will likely benefit the most from extra playing time for however long Jimenez is out.

Sun Mar 3119:05Eloy Jimenez Likely Headed To Injured List
Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez (groin) was forced to exit early during Sunday's game against the Detroit Tigers. The organization announced that Jimenez left the game due to left groin soreness. The expectation is the team will have Jimenez undergo further testing before deciding on what to do. However, it's being reported that infielder Lenyn Sosa is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Charlotte. That being said, it sounds like Jimenez is headed towards a trip to the injured list. Fantasy managers should get a backup plan in place in case Jimenez does miss time.

Fri Mar 2212:23Eloy Jimenez Back In Friday's Lineup
Chicago White Sox outfielder/designated hitter Eloy Jimenez (foot) is back in the team's Cactus League lineup on Friday against the Oakland Athletics, serving as the designated hitter and batting cleanup. Jimenez fouled a ball off his foot in Wednesday's spring game and was held out of action on Thursday as a result. He's back in there now, though, so it appears the oft-injured 27-year-old dodged a bullet and should be ready for Opening Day on March 28. Fantasy managers should know that Jimenez is a pretty big injury risk, as he's missed at least 40 games in all five of his major-league seasons. He hasn't been able to match the 31 home runs he hit during his rookie campaign in 2019, either. Because of that, RotoBaller has Jimenez ranked as the No. 46 fantasy outfielder in 2024.

Thu Mar 2114:20Eloy Jimenez Suffers Bruised Foot
Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez (foot) has suffered a bruised right foot after fouling a pitch off of it on Wednesday. The oft-injured 27-year-old is listed as day to day at this point. It's been a productive spring to this point for Jimenez in Cactus League action as he is hitting .356 with one homer, 12 RBI, and an .894 OPS across 47 trips to the plate. He took a step back at the plate in the 2023 season when he hit .272 with 18 home runs, 64 RBI, and a .758 OPS across 120 appearances, good for a 105 wRC+ that represents the second-lowest mark of his five-year career. He is a solid bounce-back candidate who projects for 23 home runs and 73 RBI by ATC across 125 games in the 2024 campaign but he still carries substantial injury risk.

Thu Mar 711:02Eloy Jimenez Stays Hot, Mashes First Spring Home Run Wednesday
Chicago White Sox designated hitter Eloy Jimenez continued his hot spring on Wednesday in a 12-9 Cactus League loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Jimenez went 2-for-2 with a walk, a single, and his first home run of the spring, driving in two runs and scoring in all three plate appearances. The powerful righty now sits alone atop the spring leaderboard in hits with 12, with five multi-hit efforts in eight games played. The 27-year-old has worked with hitting coach Marcus Thames on his swing and it appears to be paying off. It's also a contract year for Jimenez so there's extra motivation, for him and the White Sox, as he could also be a potential trade chip.

Mon Feb 1918:20Eloy Jimenez Hopes To Play 150-Plus Games
Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez said his goal is to play in 150-plus games in 2024 alongside Yoan Moncada and Luis Robert Jr. Injuries have been an issue for Jimenez, Moncada and Robert, but the rebuilding White Sox would be in great shape this year if all three players could stay on the field more often than not. The 27-year-old Jimenez missed some time in May due to an appendectomy, but otherwise he was mostly healthy and played in 120 games, just two shy of his career high. He hit .272/.317/.441 with 18 home runs, 64 RBI and 50 runs scored in 489 trips to the plate, which left a lot to be desired considering how many games he played. Jimenez is a risk/reward for fantasy managers willing to take a chance on him in the later rounds of drafts, but to this point in five big-league seasons, he hasn't been able to reach his potential.

Mon Aug 21 202316:28Eloy Jimenez Activated And Starting Monday
The Chicago White Sox reinstated outfielder Eloy Jimenez from the paternity list on Monday and optioned right-hander Declan Cronin to Triple-A Charlotte in a corresponding move. Jimenez is right back in the starting lineup against Seattle Mariners right-hander Luis Castillo, serving as the designated hitter and batting cleanup for the Pale Hose. The 26-year-old missed last Wednesday's game with a groin injury and then missed all of the weekend series for the birth of his child. He's apparently over his groin ailment and is ready to go. Jimenez is returning to a .277/.320/.452 slash line with 14 homers, 50 RBI and 36 runs scored in 321 at-bats in 2023.

Fri Aug 18 202317:06White Sox Place Eloy Jimenez On Paternity List
The Chicago White Sox placed outfielder/designated hitter Eloy Jimenez (groin) on the paternity list on Friday and recalled infield prospect Lenyn Sosa from Triple-A Charlotte in a corresponding move. Jimenez didn't play on Wednesday due to a groin injury, but hopefully he'll be healthy enough to return to the starting lineup when he's back from the paternity list. Fantasy managers can count the 26-year-old out for the team's weekend series against the Colorado Rockies. Sosa, the team's No. 16 prospect per MLB Pipeline, will make the start at second base and bat ninth on Friday against Rockies right-hander Peter Lambert. With Tim Anderson also out this weekend while serving his suspension, the 23-year-old Sosa could see several starts for Chicago. He's struggled in his first 106 MLB plate appearances the last two years, going 13-for-103 (.126) with two homers and four RBI.

Wed Aug 16 202318:31Eloy Jimenez Absent On Wednesday
Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez (groin) is out of the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Chicago Cubs. The 26-year-old is dealing with a groin issue, so the White Sox will give him a rest day here. Fantasy managers should consider Jimenez as day-to-day, so hopefully he'll return soon. The expectation is that Jimenez should be ready for the series opener versus the Colorado Rockies on Friday. In the meantime, Oscar Colas will cover right field and bat ninth versus right-hander Javier Assad on Wednesday.
