Chicago Cubs infielder David Bote pinch-hit and went 1-for-1 with a two-run homer on Sunday. Bote's home run was his third of the Cactus League. The utility man has been off to a hot start this spring, but will need to continue to have a strong showing to break camp as a bench option for the Cubs. Despite his strong power thus far, Bote offers zero for fantasy managers at the moment.

Chicago Cubs infielder David Bote has received a non-roster invite to spring training, according to beat writer Meghan Montemurro. Bote was taken off the 40-man roster prior to the 2023 season and spent 2023 at Triple-Iowa, where he slashed .258/.361/.456 over 425 plate appearances. Bote signed a five-year, $15 million contract with the Cubs back in 2020, which includes a pair of club options in 2025 and 2026. The team is paying him $5.5 million this season, but he doesn't seem to fit into their long-term plans. The 30-year-old showed some promise back in 2019 but is a career .231/.318/.393 hitter across 1,019 at-bats, spanning a five-year major-league career.

Chicago Cubs second baseman David Bote (shoulder) was removed from Thursday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates due to a left shoulder injury. Trent Giambrone came into the game to replace him in the seventh inning. Bote is scheduled to undergo tests on Friday. The 28-year-old hasn't been very effective offensively this year, slashing just .199/.276/.330 with eight home runs, 35 RBI and 32 runs over 97 games. Giambrone could see an increase in playing time if Bote misses any action this weekend.

Chicago Cubs infielder David Bote (ankle) is close to returning to game action, according to Cubs bench coach Andy Green. Bote landed on the injured list on August 28 after spraining his right ankle. This season hasn't been kind to Bote, as he's slashed just .202/.270/.339 with eight home runs over 78 games. Once he returns, Bote should be left on the waiver wire in every league, but fantasy managers can stream him against left-handers, who he has slugged .464 against this season.

Bote is considered day-to-day for now and more should be known later in the evening. Happ is worth a look in DFS on Friday versus Dallas Keuchel.

Bote grabbed his shoulder after the play at second base in the fourth inning. He was helped off and replaced by Patrick Wisdom at third before the Reds batted in the top of the fifth. The team said Bote is undergoing further evaluation. The Cubs have been hit hard by injuries this month, especially among their position players.
