Tue Feb 1314:41Dinelson Lamet Dealing With Visa Issues
Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Dinelson Lamet, who is a non-roster invitee to spring training, isn't in camp with the rest of the pitchers and catchers yet due to visa issues, according to manager Dave Roberts. Other than Lamet, all of the pitchers and catchers are accounted for. Lamet can ill-afford to miss any time in spring training with his new organization as the seeks to claim a roster spot for Opening Day. The 31-year-old former starter fell apart last year with the Colorado Rockies and Boston Red Sox, sporting an 11.71 ERA and 2.35 WHIP with 23 walks and 32 strikeouts in 27 2/3 innings over 17 appearances (four starts). Injuries and control issues have really derailed what was once a promising career when he was with the San Diego Padres.

Sun Feb 412:08Dinelson Lamet Heads To Dodgers
Free-agent right-hander Dinelson Lamet signed a minor-league deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday that includes an invitation to major-league spring training. Lamet has really struggled the last two years and has bounced around the league with three different teams. In 2023, he had a nightmarish 11.71 ERA (6.83 FIP) and 2.35 WHIP with 23 walks and 32 strikeouts in 27 2/3 innings over 17 appearances (four starts) with the Colorado Rockies and Boston Red Sox. However, the 31-year-old was much better in the minors with a 2.70 ERA and 1.00 WHIP. Lamet showed some promise in a starting role for the San Diego Padres early in his career, but injuries and control problems have really hurt his cause in recent years. He'll most likely serve as organizational relief depth for the Dodgers in 2024.

Mon Aug 7 202319:06Red Sox Call Up Dinelson Lamet
The Boston Red Sox selected the contract of right-hander Dinelson Lamet from Triple-A Worcester on Monday and designated left-hander Richard Bleier for assignment in a corresponding move. Since signing a minor-league deal with Boston on June 28, Lamet has posted a 3.72 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, seven walks and 16 strikeouts in 19 1/3 innings over five appearances (four starts) for Worcester. It's unclear if the 31-year-old will be used in a starting or relief role in his time with Boston, but stretched out to provide a spot start or be used in long relief out of the bullpen. He had a brutal 11.57 ERA and 2.34 WHIP with 22 walks and 31 K's in 25 2/3 innings over 16 outings (four starts) for the Colorado Rockies earlier this year, so fantasy managers shouldn't be expecting anything from him the rest of this year.

Wed Jun 28 202312:27Red Sox Add Dinelson Lamet On Minor-League Deal
The Boston Red Sox signed right-hander Dinelson Lamet to a minor-league deal on Wednesday. Lamet began the 2023 season with the Colorado Rockies before posting an ugly 11.57 ERA and 2.34 WHIP in 25 2/3 innings over 16 appearances (four starts) before he was eventually designated for assignment and released. The 30-year-old right-hander has always been raw with plenty of upside, but injuries have set his career back and he hasn't been able to find it consistently on the mound in either a starting or relief role. The Red Sox will hope they can unlock something in him, but he'll start at Triple-A Worcester. In 117 big-league outings (60 starts), Lamet has a 4.61 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and impressive 30.2% strikeout rate.

Mon Jun 19 202312:13Dinelson Lamet Designated For Assignment By Rockies
The Colorado Rockies designated right-hander Dinelson Lamet for assignment on Saturday and recalled left-hander Gavin Hollowell from Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move. Lamet gets cut after providing a horrendous 11.57 ERA, 2.34 WHIP and 22 walks in 25 2/3 innings over 16 appearances (four starts) for the Rockies this year. The Rockies were hoping moving Lamet to a starting role would help him, but that wasn't the case. Hollowell skipped Triple-A in 2022 to make six relief appearances in his big-league debut, and he allowed seven runs (six earned) on seven hits while walking four and fanning eight in seven innings. He has dealt with back and forearm injuries in 2023, but he had a 1.54 ERA with 14 K's and six walks in 11 2/3 innings on the farm. Noah Davis is a candidate to take Lamet's rotation spot in Colorado.

Wed May 31 202319:53Dinelson Lamet Activated And Starting Wednesday
The Colorado Rockies announced on Wednesday that they reinstated right-hander Dinelson Lamet (back) from the 15-day injured list and optioned right-hander Blair Calvo to Triple-A Albuquerque after Tuesday night's game in a corresponding move. Lamet will enter the starting rotation and face the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday in his first start of the season and first start, period, since 2021 with the San Diego Padres. In 12 relief outings (10 2/3 innings) before going on the IL, Lamet had allowed 16 runs (15 earned) on 14 hits (two homers) while walking 12 and striking out 13. Injuries and poor control have set the 30-year-old back in recent seasons, but he showed flashes of dominance in his time in SD and could be worth a look in much deeper fantasy leagues when he's pitching on the road.

Sun May 28 202314:21Dinelson Lamet Likely Starting Wednesday
Colorado Rockies right-hander Dinelson Lamet (back) will probably start Wednesday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, according to Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post. The right-hander hasn't pitched since May 3 after suffering back issues and landing on the injured list. Over 10.2 frames before the injury, Lamet pitched to a 12.66 ERA, 2.44 WHIP, and 22.8% strikeout rate. His 21.1% walk rate is ugly, and his Cy Young caliber days are probably behind him. Fantasy managers can pass on Lamet for another arm with fewer issues.

Sat May 27 202313:36Dinelson Lamet Pitches Well In Rehab Start
Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Dinelson Lamet (back) allowed just two hits and no runs while punching out six and issuing one walk over 4 2/3 scoreless innings in his minor league rehab start for Triple-A Albuquerque. This is newsworthy as Lamet is expected to join the Rockies' starting rotation next week. Lamet was electric earlier in his career with the Padres but injuries derailed his success. He's still a name to keep an eye on but you shouldn't rush to grab him off the waiver wire. He's pitching for the Rockies, after all.

Tue May 23 202309:30Dinelson Lamet Could Come Back As A Starter
Colorado Rockies right-handed hurler Dinelson Lamet (back) is expected to be an option to join the rotation once he returns from the injured list, according to MLB.com. The 30-year-old has been sidelined since May 4 after experiencing lower back stiffness. Over 10.2 innings this season, Lamet owns a 12.66 ERA and 2.44 WHIP with a 22.8% strikeout rate and an eye-opening 21.1% walk rate. The former San Diego Padre last started a game in 2021 but hasn't been successful as a starter since 2020, when he was a Cy Young candidate. Lamet has made two rehab starts and is on his way to returning, but fantasy managers shouldn't get too excited, even if he enters the rotation.

Fri May 5 202308:06Dinelson Lamet Lands On The Injured List Thursday
The Colorado Rockies placed right-hander Dinelson Lamet (back) on the 15-day injured list on Thursday, according to MLB.com. The 30-year-old is dealing with lower back stiffness. There's no word on how long Lamet will be on the shelf, but he'll likely go through a rehab assignment once his back heals. The 2023 season hasn't been kind to the former starting pitcher, as he owns a 12.66 ERA, 22.8% strikeout rate, and 2.44 WHIP over 10.2 innings. In a corresponding move, the club recalled Peter Lambert from Triple-A. In 95 career innings between 2019 and 2021, the right-hander owns a 7.48 ERA with 60 strikeouts across 95 innings. Fantasy managers can ignore both players in all formats.

Thu Nov 17 202213:13Rockies Avoid Arbitration With Dinelson Lamet
The Colorado Rockies avoided salary arbitration with right-hander Dinelson Lamet on Wednesday by agreeing to an undisclosed one-year deal. Lamet began the 2022 season with the San Diego Padres before being traded to the Milwaukee Brewers. The Rockies then claimed him off waivers from the Brewers in August. The 30-year-old pitched to a 4.05 ERA (3.46 FIP), a 1.20 WHIP, 29 strikeouts and 10 walks in 20 relief innings for Colorado to close out the year. The Padres traded him after he allowed 14 runs (13 earned) on 16 hits while walking nine and striking out 16 in 12 1/3 relief innings to begin the season. Lamet began his MLB career as a starter, but injuries have relegated him to relief duties in recent seasons.

Fri Aug 5 202214:10Rockies Claim Dinelson Lamet Off Waivers
The Colorado Rockies claimed right-hander Dinelson Lamet off waivers from the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday. Lamet was shipped to the Milwaukee Brewers in the trade that sent closer Josh Hader to the San Diego Padres on Monday, but the Brewers designated Lamet for assignment on Wednesday due to a crowded bullpen at the major league level. The Rockies have decided to scoop him up, bringing him back to the National League West. The 30-year-old was once a promising starting pitcher, but injuries have moved him to a bullpen role the last two years, and he has struggled to a 9.49 ERA, a 2.03 WHIP and a 16:9 K:BB in only 12 1/3 innings in 2022. Lamet will have a new opportunity in Colorado, but for now he's well off the fantasy radar.

Wed Aug 3 202216:11Dinelson Lamet Designated For Assignment
The Milwaukee Brewers designated right-hander Dinelson Lamet and catcher Pedro Severino for assignment on Wednesday. Lamet was just acquired by the Brewers in the trade that sent left-handed closer Josh Hader to the San Diego Padres on Monday. Milwaukee likes Lamet, but their bullpen is extremely crowded at the major league level, even after trading Hader away. The Brew Crew also traded for veteran relievers Matt Bush and Trevor Rosenthal in recent days. If Lamet goes unclaimed on waivers, the Brewers will be able to keep him in the organization at Triple-A Nashville. Moved to the bullpen because of injuries by the Padres the last two years, Lamet allowed 13 earned runs on 16 hits in just 12 1/3 relief innings for the Friars this year before being traded to Milwaukee.

Wed Sep 1 202113:55Padres Add Dinelson Lamet And Taylor Williams To Roster
The San Diego Padres added pitchers Dinelson Lamet (forearm) and Taylor Williams(shoulder) to their roster on Wednesday, expanding the team's roster to 28 players. Lamet has been working his way back from forearm and elbow issues. He hasn't pitched for the team since late June. Williams, meanwhile, has been out since mid-April after undergoing shoulder surgery. Both players will work out of a crowded bullpen for the Padres. Lamet is the one who is worth watching for fantasy purposes, though it's unlikely he'll provide much fantasy value at any point through the last month of this season.

Fri Aug 27 202116:27Dinelson Lamet Resumes Rehab Assignment
San Diego Padres pitcher Dinelson Lamet (forearm) resumed a rehab assignment on August 24 with Low-A Lake Elsinore. Working his way back from elbow and forearm issues, Lamet was dealt a setback a few weeks ago with a hip infection. After his breakout 2020 season, the 29-year-old right-hander has been limited to just 34 frames this season, registering a 3.67 ERA and 1.40 WHIP. With his lethal fastball-slider combination, the plan is for Lamet to return in a relief capacity, but his return timetable is uncertain. However, without a defined role and serious questions about health, Lamet is no longer a fantasy option for 2021.

Thu Aug 5 202121:06Dinelson Lamet Throws One Inning In Rehab Assignment
San Diego Padres pitcher Dinelson Lamet (forearm) allowed one run on one hit and a walk while striking out two across one inning during a rehab outing with Low-A Lake Elsinore on Wednesday. He served up a solo home run while threw 9 of 16 pitches for strikes. The 29-year-old will work out of the bullpen when he's activated from the injured list. Lamet owns a 3.67 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, and 38 strikeouts across 34 1/3 innings in 2021. Due to the uncertainty of his health and role, the Padres right-hander is mainly a stash in dynasty leagues.

Mon Aug 2 202112:31Dinelson Lamet Starting Rehab Assignment Wednesday
San Diego Padres pitcher Dinelson Lamet (forearm) will start a rehab assignment Wednesday. As expected, the right-hander will work out of the bullpen to manage the myriad arm issues he's dealt with since last season. Lamet has been limited to just 34 innings in 2021, posting a 3.67 ERA and 26 percent strikeout rate. With his wipeout fastball-slider combination, the 29-year-old could be a potent weapon in relief. However, due to his uncertain role and lingering health concerns, Lamet is no longer a fantasy must-hold outside of leagues emphasizing relief pitchers and managers desperate for strikeout upside.

Fri Jul 30 202117:11Dinelson Lamet Possibly Headed For Bullpen Role
The San Diego Padres are contemplating a bullpen role for pitcher Dinelson Lamet (forearm). After dealing with elbow, forearm and biceps issues this offseason, the 29-year-old fireball has been limited to just 34 innings and a 3.67 ERA after myriad stints on the IL. Currently throwing in simulated games, Lamet looks poised for a rehab assignment and could rejoin the Friars by mid-August. Aside from the load management aspect, Lamet's wipeout fastball-slider combination should play well in short relief spurts. However, the Padres are lacking backend rotation depth so he may assume a hybrid role. Assuming full health, Lamet is evolving into a fantasy nonfactor outside of holds leagues, even if he can contribute strikeout rates north of 30 percent.

Sun Jun 27 202102:30Diamondbacks beat Padres 10-1, end record 24-game road skid
SAN DIEGO (AP) — The Arizona Diamondbacks snapped their record 24-game road losing streak by routing the San Diego Padres 10-1 on Saturday night, getting six scoreless innings from Merrill Kelly and four hits and five RBIs from Eduardo Escobar. Escobar and Christian Walker homered for the Diamondbacks, who hadn’t won away from Chase Field since April 25, when Madison Bumgarner pitched seven no-hit innings at Atlanta. The Diamondbacks had dropped 20 of 21 games and 34 of 37 overall. Escobar connected for a two-run homer, and drove in runs with a double, a single and a groundout. He finished a triple shy of the cycle. Kelly (4-7) allowed five hits, struck out five and walked none. Dinelson Lamet (2-3) took the loss, allowing four runs and six hits in 2 1/3 innings. METS 4, PHILLIES 3 NEW YORK (AP) — Jacob deGrom gave up two runs for the first time this season and New York rallied after he exited, beating Philadelphia on Michael Conforto’s sacrifice fly in the ninth inning. Sat Jun 26 202103:20LEADING OFF: DeGrom aims to set Mets mark for shutout streak
A look at what's happening around the majors today: JAKE TO BREAK? Mets ace Jacob deGrom can set the team record for scoreless innings when he starts against the Phillies at Citi Field. DeGrom has a 30-inning shutout streak, nearing the club mark of 32 2/3 innings by R.A. Dickey in 2012. DeGrom owns an amazing 0.50 ERA through 12 starts, going 7-2. The two-time NL Cy Young Award winner hasn’t allowed a run in his last five starts, giving up just seven hits over a 27-inning span and putting to rest, for now, worries over recent health concerns. TRY AGAIN Arizona makes another attempt to win on the road, where it's been two months since its last victory. The Diamondbacks extended their dubious MLB record by losing for the 24th straight time away from Chase Field, beaten 11-5 at San Diego as Fernando Tatis Jr. hit three home runs for the Padres. The last time Arizona won on the road was April 25, when Madison Bumgarner pitched seven no-hit innings to win at Atlanta. Merrill Kelly (3-7, 5.06... [More]
