Tue Jun 7 202211:42Dillon Peters Going On Injured List
Pittsburgh Pirates left-hander Dillon Peters is being placed on the 15-day injured list with an undisclosed injury on Tuesday, per the league's transactions page. The move will be retroactive to June 3. Peters will be eligible to come off the injured list on June 18. The 29-year-old southpaw has made 16 appearances (four starts) for the Pirates this year and has allowed 11 earned runs on 14 hits while striking out 21 and walking 16 in 25 2/3 innings pitched. He has a decent 3.86 ERA, but his 15.4% walk rate is concerning, especially considering his 17.6% career strikeout rate in six major league seasons.

Wed Apr 27 202211:29Dillon Peters To Start On Wednesday
Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Dillon Peters will make the start against the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday. Bryse Wilson was expected to make the start, but has been scratched for an unknown reason. That being said, Peters will start, but his max pitch count this season is 43 pitches. He likely won't go deep into this game, but could see more starts, assuming this goes well. Peters has allowed one hit with eight strikeouts in 10 1/3 scoreless innings this season.

Sat Aug 14 202122:29Dillon Peters Will Start On Sunday
Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Dillon Peters will make the start against the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday. He was acquired from the Los Angeles Angels last month in exchange for cash considerations. Peters has never had much success at the MLB level and wasn't too sharp in the minors. The Brewers can handle the bats pretty well, so Peters is looking like someone who should be avoided as a streaming option for Sunday.

Wed Jul 14 202120:50Angels sign veteran OF Adam Eaton after White Sox release
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — The Los Angeles Angels signed veteran outfielder Adam Eaton two days after he was released by the Chicago White Sox. The Angels announced the move Wednesday. They also designated left-hander Dillon Peters for assignment to clear a spot on the 40-man roster. The White Sox designated Eaton for assignment July 7 after he batted .201 with five homers and 28 RBIs in 58 games during his return season with Chicago. After a strong start to the year, his production slumped badly from mid-April onward. The 10-year major league veteran also struggled at the plate with the Washington Nationals in 2020, a year after playing well and winning a World Series ring with new Angels teammate Anthony Rendon. Eaton is a career .278 hitter with 65 homers and 317 RBIs across a decade with Arizona, Washington and two stints with the White Sox. Eaton will provide immediate depth in the Angels' injury-plagued outfield. Left fielder Justin Upton has been out since June 22 with a lower back injury,... [More]
Sat Feb 27 202114:56Pujols says he'll decide future after season with Angels
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Albert Pujols woke up from a nap last Monday in Arizona to find several hundred messages and missed calls on his phone. While he was sleeping, the Los Angeles Angels slugger's wife, Deidre, had put up a complimentary Instagram post about her husband that was widely interpreted to mean Pujols had decided to retire after this season, his 21st in the majors. “Hey, that's the life we're living on social media,” Pujols said Saturday with a chuckle. “It's sad that everybody just had to run with it.” The 41-year-old slugger quickly reiterated what he has been saying for months: He hasn't decided whether he will continue playing after the conclusion of his 10-year, $240 million contract with the Angels this fall, and he won't make or announce a decision until after the season. “I think our organization, my friends, people that follow my career for 21 years deserve better than just me or her posting something on Instagram,” Pujols said in his first interviews of spring training.... Tue Feb 9 202100:07Los Angeles Angels acquire RHP Aaron Slegers from Tampa Bay
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — The Los Angeles Angels have acquired right-hander Aaron Slegers from Tampa Bay for cash or a player to be named. The clubs announced the deal Monday night. The 6-foot-10 Slegers mostly pitched in long relief for the AL champion Rays last season, going at least two innings in nine of his 11 appearances while compiling a 3.46 ERA. He allowed just five earned runs over 24 innings in his final 10 appearances, and kept up the strong work with a 1.80 ERA in three playoff outings covering five innings. Slegers, born in Long Beach, has a solid chance to earn an important job in the Angels' bullpen, which is undergoing a major overhaul by new general manager Perry Minasian. Los Angeles had the fifth-worst ERA in the majors last season and missed the playoffs for the sixth straight year. Mike Mayers, Ty Buttrey and Félix Peña were the Angels’ three most-used relievers last season, and they’re all still with the club. The next eight busiest relievers from the 2020 roster are gone, and Minasian has traded for closer Raisel Iglesias and signed left-hander Alex Claudio. Slegers was waived or designated for assignment by Minnesota, Pittsburgh and Tampa Bay in 2019, but he re-signed with the Rays and pitched his way back into the majors last August. The Angels designated left-hander Dillon Peters for assignment to make room for Slegers. ___ More AP MLB: https://apnews.com/hub/MLB and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports
