Tue Jan 17 202317:07Brett Martin Having Shoulder Surgery
Texas Rangers left-hander Brett Martin (shoulder) is set to have left shoulder surgery this week, according to a source. Martin's timetable for a return is to be determined. The 27-year-old southpaw went on the injured list in September with a left shoulder strain and he obviously didn't improve over the winter. Although we don't have specific timeline for his return, it's likely that he'll miss at least half of the 2023 campaign. Martin pitched in his fourth major-league season with Texas last year and went 1-7 with a 4.14 ERA (3.63 FIP), 1.36 WHIP, career-high three saves and 40 strikeouts in 50 innings over 55 appearances (one start).

Tue Jul 12 202200:25Brett Martin Earns Third Save Of Season Monday
Texas Rangers relief pitcher Brett Martin picked up his third save of the season in Monday's 10-8 win over the Athletics. Martin entered to pitch the ninth inning up by two. He got the first two hitters out on a strikeout and a flyout, allowed a single and a walk, and then ended the game with another strikeout. Martin has earned all of his saves in his last three appearances and looks to be the go-to for the Rangers now that Joe Barlow has been demoted from the closer's role. Martin has a 2.89 ERA, a 7.71 K/9 rate, and a 3.21 BB/9 rate over 28 innings pitched. He is worth a roster spot in roto leagues at this time.

Sat Jul 9 202221:44Brett Martin Secures Second Save
Texas Rangers relief pitcher Brett Martin was given the ball in the ninth inning for the second day in a row. Manager Chris Woodward pulled Joe Barlow from the closer role for the team being. Now, it appears Martin is going to get a chance to earn the job. The left-hander secured his second save of the season versus the Minnesota Twins on Saturday. He is posting a 3.00 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and 22 strikeouts over 27 innings of work. He is certainly worth a look in fantasy leagues where saves matter.
