Wed Jan 1721:29Dodgers Bring Stephen Gonsalves Aboard On Minor-League Deal
The Los Angeles Dodgers signed free-agent left-hander Stephen Gonsalves to a minor-league deal on Wednesday that includes an invite to spring training. The 29-year-old southpaw has thrown only 29 innings in the majors and hasn't appeared in the big leagues since 2021 with the Boston Red Sox. In 2023, he appeared at four levels of the minors with the Chicago Cubs and had a bloated 5.72 ERA and 1.55 WHIP with 22 walks and 44 strikeouts in 28 1/3 innings pitched in his first year back from Tommy John surgery. He'll give the stacked Dodgers roster some more minor-league depth from the left side to open the 2024 campaign. Gonsalves allowed 24 runs (20 earned) while walking 24 and striking out 20 in his 29 big-league innings over 10 appearances (four starts).
