The Miami Marlins signed catcher Austin Allen and shortstop Alex De Goti to minor-league deals and also claimed right-hander Nic Enright off waivers from the Cleveland Guardians. Allen played in five games for the Oakland Athletics last season and went 1-for-14 with a walk, a run scored and nine strikeouts. The 28-year-old was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals in August. He hit a combined .287/.365/.472 with an .837 OPS, seven home runs, 40 RBI and 24 runs scored in 55 minor-league games. De Goti, 28, spent all of 2022 with Triple-A Sugar Land in the Houston Astros organization, slashing .253/.352/.377 with nine home runs, 69 RBI, 77 runs scored and eight stolen bases in 135 games played.

Scherzer allowed two hits in 7 1/3 innings, but the Yankees rallied three times. Kyle Higashioka’s home run tied the score at 1 in the third, Torres made it 2-all against Brad Hand in the ninth and Mike Ford’s single evened it 3-3 against Hand in the 10th. With automatic runner DJ LeMahieu on second in the 11th, Tanner Rainey (0-2) walked Giancarlo Stanton on a full count and Aaron Judge on four pitches, loading the bases. Washington went to a five-man infield, replacing left fielder Kyle Schwarber with Jordy Mercer. SAN DIEGO (AP) — Oakland acquired minor league outfielder Buddy Reed from San Diego on Thursday to complete the Dec. 2 trade that sent second baseman Jurickson Profar to the Padres for catcher Austin Allen.Reed will be a non-roster invitee with the A's this spring.Reed batted .228 with a career-high 14 home runs and 50 RBIs in 121 games for Double-A Amarillo last year. He also walked a career-high 42 times for a .310 on-base percentage and ranked seventh in the Texas League with 23 stolen bases. The 24-year-old right-handed hitter is rated as the Padres' 25th best prospect by mlb.com.
