The Seattle Mariners and free-agent second baseman Nick Solak reportedly signed a minor-league contract Tuesday, per FanSided.com's Robert Murray. The deal includes an invite to spring training. The 29-year-old only appeared in two big-league games in 2023 but had his best stint with Triple-A Gwinnett, where he slashed .272/.364/.444 in 173 plate appearances. At this point, Solak has a long way to go before meriting fantasy attention.

Fri Jun 9 202320:26Tigers Claim Nick Solak Off Waivers From Braves
The Detroit Tigers claimed outfielder Nick Solak off waivers from the Atlanta Braves on Friday and optioned him to Triple-A Toledo. In a corresponding move to make room for Solak on the 40-man roster, the team moved right-hander Spencer Turnbull (neck) to the 60-day injured list. Solak heads to the Tigers after being designated for assignment by Atlanta earlier this week. The 28-year-old only played in one game for the Braves this year and didn't have an official plate appearance. In 38 contests for Triple-A Gwinnett, he hit .272 (41-for-151) with eight doubles, six home runs, 28 RBI and 23 runs scored. Solak is a career .252 hitter in five big-league seasons with 21 homers, 93 RBI and 19 stolen bases. He'll have a better shot at playing in the majors in Detroit, but he's still off the fantasy radar.

Tue Apr 18 202315:18Braves Claim Nick Solak Off Waivers From White Sox
The Atlanta Braves claimed outfielder Nick Solak off waivers from the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday and optioned him to Triple-A Gwinnett. It comes after the White Sox designated Solak for assignment on Sunday. The 28-year-old had a promising rookie season with the Texas Rangers in 2019, when he batted .293 with five home runs and 17 RBI in 33 games, but he has struggled to hit major-league pitching since. In his four seasons with Texas, Solak slashed .252/.327/.372 with a .700 OPS, 21 home runs, 93 RBI, 19 stolen bases and 117 runs scored in 253 games played. For now, Solak will represent outfield depth in the Braves organization at the minor-league level. He can continue being ignored in fantasy.

Sun Apr 16 202314:07Nick Solak Designated For Assignment
Chicago White Sox infielder/outfielder Nick Solak has been designated for assignment. The White Sox just claimed Solak off waivers from the Mariners several days ago but had to clear up some roster space due to injuries. If he passes through waivers then he would serve as organizational depth for the White Sox. He hit with just .077/.294/.077 over four games with the Tacoma Rainiers, the Mariners' Triple-A affiliate, before being claimed by Chicago.

Fri Mar 31 202322:28Mariners Acquire Nick Solak From Reds
The Seattle Mariners acquired outfielder Nick Solak from the Cincinnati Reds on Friday in exchange for cash considerations. The move comes after the Reds designated Solak for assignment on Thursday, and he'll report to Triple-A Tacoma to begin the 2023 season. The 28-year-old former second-rounder of the New York Yankees in 2016 hit a combined .252/.327/.372 with a .700 OPS, 21 home runs, 93 RBI, 117 runs scored and 19 stolen bases in 253 games played in his four seasons for the Texas Rangers coming into this season. It could be difficult for Solak to find his way onto a much-improved Seattle big-league roster, so for now, he's only worth stashing in deep AL-only leagues.

Thu Nov 10 202218:01Reds Acquire Nick Solak From Rangers
The Cincinnati Reds acquired infielder/outfielder Nick Solak from the Texas Rangers on Thursday in exchange for cash considerations. Solak suffered a fractured right foot in September and played in just 35 games for the Rangers in 2022. In those 35 contests, he hit just .207/.309/.329 with three home runs, four RBI, 14 runs scored, three stolen bases and 19 strikeouts in 95 plate appearances. The 27-year-old has a .252/.327/.372 slash line with 21 long balls, 93 RBI, 117 runs scored and 19 stolen bases in 253 games in his four major-league seasons. Cincinnati is an intriguing place for him to land given the opportunity for playing time, but it'll likely have to come somewhere other than at the keystone with Jonathan India entrenched there.

Tue Sep 20 202211:44Nick Solak Shut Down For The Year
Texas Rangers outfielder Nick Solak (foot) will be shut down for the rest of the season with what's being called a "small" fracture in his right foot. Solak was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock when rosters expanded on Sept. 1, but he was hit by a pitch last Wednesday against the Oakland Athletics. He was seen wearing a walking boot on Saturday. In just 35 games for Texas this year, Solak went 17-for-82 (.207) with three home runs, four RBI, 14 runs scored, three stolen bases and 19 strikeouts. The 27-year-old hit .278/.371/.489 with an .860 OPS, 10 home runs, 45 RBI, 38 runs scored and six stolen bases in his 57 games for Round Rock in 2022.

Thu May 19 202216:26Nick Solak Sent To Triple-A Thursday
The Texas Rangers optioned outfielder Nick Solak to Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday. The move was made to clear a roster spot for Mitch Garver (elbow), who is returning from the injured list. Solak had been seeing a good amount of playing time as both an outfielder and designated hitter, but he'd been struggling immensely at the plate. Over 26 games, he slashed .209/.293/.313 with two home runs, three stolen bases, three RBI and 11 runs.

Sat Sep 4 202111:24Nick Solak Has Three-Hit Game On Friday
Texas Rangers infielder Nick Solak has been putting together respectable numbers over the last few weeks. On Friday, he went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored in the 3-2 loss to the Los Angeles Angels. The 26-year-old recorded his fifth three-hit game of the season. He is slashing .244/.312/.382 with 11 home runs and 43 RBI this season. There is certainly some upside with his bat, but probably not enough to warrant rostering in most fantasy leagues.

Tue Aug 31 202111:28Nick Solak Goes Deep Off Rockies
Texas Rangers infielder Nick Solak has put together a nice stretch since returning to the team a few weeks ago. On Monday, he went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run to help secure the 4-3 win over the Colorado Rockies. It was his 11th of the season and Solak has been a nice source of power since returning to Texas. Sadly, he doesn't offer enough upside to warrant rostering in most fantasy formats. He might be an AL-only option because of his power, but there's not much upside outside of that.

Fri Aug 27 202110:44Nick Solak Remains Hot At The Plate
Texas Rangers infielder Nick Solak has been solid at the plate since being recalled from Triple-A roughly a week ago. On Thursday, Solak went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in the 10-6 loss to the Cleveland Indians. He has gone 6-for-18 with no strikeouts since rejoining the Rangers roster. Solak could be worth looking at in mixed leagues or AL-only formats right now.

Sat Aug 21 202112:25Nick Solak, Nick Synder Recalled For Rangers
Texas Rangers infielder Nick Solak and relief pitcher Nick Snyder have been recalled from the minors. The Rangers needed some new faces with Charlie Culberson being placed on the COVID-19 list and Joe Barlow (finger) going on the 10-day injured list. Solak figures to get some playing time, but hasn't hit well during his time in the MLB this season. However, he was hitting .353/.409/.459 with one homer and six RBI over 22 games in Triple-A. There won't be much fantasy value there since Culberson should be back soon. Snyder has posted a 2.45 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 47/5 K/BB ratio over 33 innings in the minors this season. The 25-year-old could work his way into high leverage spots, but isn't worth snagging off the waiver wire yet. Fantasy managers should wait and see if he can get MLB hitters out.
