Tue Dec 26 202317:10Estevan Florial Headed To Cleveland In Trade With Yankees
Outfielder Estevan Florial has been traded by the New York Yankees to the Cleveland Guardians for pitcher Cody Morris. Florial was once a top prospect for the Yankees and has been a conundrum for dynasty managers for a few years now. He is 26, however, and his star has faded. With that being said, he managed a .284/.380/.565 slash line in Triple-A last season. The Guardians are hoping a new scene will help Florial find some success in the majors, as he had a .209/.313/.296 slash line with the Yankees. Morris is 27, has made starts at the major league level, and come out of the bullpen. He can strike out batters at a good pace, a 37.8% rate in 2022. Morris should battle for a spot on the Yankee roster coming out of Spring Training after the team shipped three MLB-talent to the Padres for Juan Soto.

Mon Sep 11 202312:35Estevan Florial Returns To Big Leagues
The New York Yankees officially placed outfield prospect Jasson Dominguez (elbow) on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to Sept. 10) with a right UCL tear on Monday and selected the contract of outfielder Estevan Florial from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in a corresponding move. Florial will return to the majors after impressing at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in 2023, as he slashed .284/.380/.565 with a .945 OPS, 28 home runs, 23 doubles, four triples, 79 RBI, 25 stolen bases and 83 runs scored in 101 games. However, the 25-year-old Dominican has hit just .185 (10-for-54) with a homer and 21 strikeouts in 63 plate appearances in his 30 MLB games over the last four years, so he won't be guaranteed regular playing time down the stretch in the Bronx.

Wed Aug 24 202200:19Estevan Florial Optioned To Triple-A Tuesday
New York Yankees outfielder Estevan Florial was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday, per MLB.com's Bryan Hoch. The move is likely to clear a roster spot for Giancarlo Stanton (Achilles), who is expected to be activated from the injured list prior to Thursday's game at the Athletics. Florial has only had 22 plate appearances with the Yankees this season and slashed a miserable .050/.136/.050. The 24-year-old had been hitting well at Triple-A prior to his call-up, so he is still worth monitoring for fantasy managers in dynasty leagues.

Sun Aug 21 202211:24Estevan Florial Sitting Out Sunday
New York Yankees outfielder Estevan Florial is not in the starting lineup on Sunday against the Toronto Blue Jays. After being called up recently to help with Giancarlo Stanton (Achilles) sidelined, Florial has struggled in his seven games. He has just one hit in 22 plate appearances with an RBI, run scored, a stolen base and eight strikeouts. Once Stanton returns, possibly later next week, the 24-year-old could be headed back to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Aaron Hicks is in center field on Sunday and is hitting seventh against Blue Jays right-hander Alek Manoah. Hicks has been ice-cold with the bat in August, hitting .116 (5-for-43) with no homers, one RBI and 12 strikeouts in 13 games.

Fri Aug 19 202215:53Estevan Florial Sitting Against Blue Jays
New York Yankees outfielder Estevan Florial is not in the starting lineup on Friday against the Toronto Blue Jays. Florial is still searching for his first hit in six games after being called up recently. He's gone 0-for-16 with a run scored, one stolen base and six strikeouts, so he'll retreat to the bench in this one. With Giancarlo Stanton nearing a minor league rehab assignment, Florial might not be around much longer on the big-league roster. Aaron Judge is getting the start in center field and will hit second on Friday against Blue Jays right-hander Kevin Gausman. Judge is the clear front-runner for American League MVP this year and is hitting .295/.393/.661 with a league-leading 46 home runs, 102 RBI, 98 runs scored and 68 walks in 115 games.

Wed Aug 17 202200:29Estevan Florial Expected To Join Yankees Wednesday
New York Yankees outfield prospect Estevan Florial is expected to be called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to join the Yankees on Wednesday, per MLB columnist Bob Klapisch. The 24-year-old could provide a spark to a slumping Yankees offense, as he has slashed .284/.365/.487 with 14 home runs, 37 RBI, and 32 stolen bases over 396 plate appearances at Triple-A this season. Florial has likely been on dynasty fantasy managers' radars for some time now, but fantasy managers in redraft leagues should wait and see what his role may be and how he performs at the big-league level before trusting him.

He'll start the year in the minors, providing the organization with some additional depth. The Yankees' current outfield options include Joey Gallo, Aaron Judge, Aaron Hicks, Giancarlo Stanton, Miguel Andujar, and Tim Locastro.

Wed Jul 28 202120:54Yankees star Aaron Judge a late scratch vs Rays
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — New York Yankees star Aaron Judge was scratched from the starting lineup about 30 minutes before the start of Wednesday night's game at Tampa Bay. Although there was no announcement on why Judge was taken out of the lineup, he pinch-hit in the fifth inning and struck out. The right fielder was reinstated from the COVID-19 injured list before Tuesday night's game with the Rays and went 1 for 4. He also was hit by a pitch in the Yankees' 4-3 win. Judge, placed on the IL on July 16, appeared in the dugout with his helmet in the fifth. Estevan Florial was called back from the on-deck circle after Greg Allen doubled, which advanced Gio Urshela to third with no outs, and the Yankees trailing 1-0. Judge struck out swinging on a 3-2 pitch from Michael Wacha. He remained in the game in right field. ___ More AP MLB: https://apnews.com/hub/MLB and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports
Tue Jul 27 202119:24Yankees All-Star Aaron Judge returns from COVID-19 IL
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — New York Yankees star outfielder Aaron Judge and backup catcher Kyle Higashioka have been reinstated from the COVID-19 injured list. Yankees manager Aaron Boone announced the moves before Tuesday night's game at Tampa Bay. Judge started in right field and batted second against the Rays. “It's huge, obviously,” Boone said of Judge's return. “Really excited to have him back. Has been feeling really strong the last few days." Both went on the IL on July 16. The Yankees started Tuesday 9½ games behind AL East-leading Boston and eight back of the second-place Rays. Judge and Higashioka took batting practice on Monday's off day at Steinbrenner Field, the Yankees' spring training complex, in Tampa, Florida. First baseman Luke Voit, on the IL with left knee inflammation, took batting practice and defensive drills. He is expected back in the next couple days. “I would say he's very close,” Boone said. “We'll have a decision here in the next day or two.” Outfielder Clint... [More]

ATLANTA (AP) — Freddie Freeman homered off Yu Darvish in the sixth inning, Touki Toussaint allowed one run and three hits in his season debut, and the Atlanta Braves beat the San Diego Padres 2-1 on Tuesday night. The Padres tied it 1-all in the fourth when Jake Cronenworth was hit by a pitch, advanced to third on Machado’s double and scored on Tommy Pham’s sacrifice fly. Fri May 21 202120:22Yankees CF Hicks to have surgery, out several months
NEW YORK (AP) — Yankees center fielder Aaron Hicks will have surgery for a torn tendon sheath in his left wrist that could sideline him for the rest of the season. Hicks will be out for months, New York manager Aaron Boone acknowledged Friday, but he didn't want to speculate about whether the switch hitter has a chance to return this year until after the operation. “It’s going to be a while,” Boone said. Hicks was scheduled to fly on Saturday back to Arizona, where he will have the procedure. The 31-year-old Hicks is batting .194 with four homers, 14 RBIs and a .627 OPS in 32 games. He was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday, retroactive to May 13, and the club initially tried to treat the injury with medicine — knowing if that wasn't effective, Hicks likely would need surgery. “I don't think he's in a lot of pain, but he feels it,” Boone said. “It doesn't allow him to swing the bat the way he needs to.” Brett Gardner started in center field Friday night as the Yankees opened a home...
