Sat Mar 213:56Vidal Brujan Likely To Make The Roster
Miami Marlins manager Skip Schumaker said that infielder/outfielder Vidal Brujan has "a high likelihood" of winning a spot on the Opening Day roster out of camp. "He's got a really good chance to make the team," Schumaker said. "He's versatile. He's done enough in Triple-A. He can run. He switch hits. He can do a lot of things for us. I haven't told him that he's made the team or anything like that, but I would anticipate him being part of our club." The 26-year-old was acquired in the offseason from the Rays and doesn't have minor-league options remaining, so it makes sense. Unless injuries strike Miami's starters, though, Brujan projects to be a super-utility man in Miami. In his three big-league seasons in Tampa, Brujan hit just .157/.218/.221 with three homers, 24 RBI and nine steals in 99 games played.

Fri Nov 17 202322:45Marlins Acquire Vidal Brujan, Calvin Faucher From Rays
The Miami Marlins acquired infielder/outfielder Vidal Brujan and right-hander Calvin Faucher (biceps) from the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday in exchange for infielder Erick Lara, right-hander Andrew Lindsey and a player to be named later or cash considerations. Brujan, a 25-year-old Dominican switch-hitter, really struggled offensively in his three seasons with the Rays, slashing .157/.218/.221 with three home runs, 24 RBI and nine stolen bases in 99 games played. He'll bring mostly defensive versatility to the Marlins and will likely start 2024 in the minors. Faucher, 28, finished the season on the 60-day injured list and had a rough 7.01 ERA and 1.67 WHIP with 12 walks and 25 strikeouts in 25 2/3 innings over four outings (three starts) for Tampa this year.

Mon Jun 5 202314:31Vidal Brujan Called Up And Starting Against Red Sox
Tampa Bay Rays infielder/outfielder Vidal Brujan was called up from Triple-A Durham on Monday, and he's starting at second base and batting eighth in the lineup against Boston Red Sox right-hander Brayan Bello. Brujan rejoins the big-league squad with second baseman Brandon Lowe (back) landing on the injured list. The 25-year-old Dominican has just five hits in 20 at-bats in 11 games for the Rays so far in 2023, and he's likely to split playing time at the keystone with Taylor Walls and Isaac Paredes for as long as Lowe is on the shelf. The sporadic playing time won't make him very attractive as a utility player in mixed leagues. Brujan hit .238 (30-for-126) with four doubles, three triples, four home runs, 17 RBI and nine stolen bases in 32 games for Durham.

Tue Apr 25 202314:22Rays Send Vidal Brujan To Minors
The Tampa Bay Rays optioned outfielder/second baseman Vidal Brujan to the minor leagues on Tuesday to make room for the return of outfielder Jose Siri (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list. The 25-year-old Dominican will bide his time on the farm until he gets another call up to Tampa. In his first 11 games of the season, Brujan was hitting .250 (5-for-20) with three RBI and five runs scored in 21 plate appearances for the Rays as a bench player. The biggest issue for Brujan is the fact that he doesn't really have a set position on the big-league roster, but his positional versatility is nice for the team in real life.

Mon Oct 3 202214:41Rays Recall Vidal Brujan On Monday
The Tampa Bay Rays recalled infielder and outfielder Vidal Brujan on Monday. Brujan is batting .165 with a .234 on-base percentage in 154 plate appearances for the Rays this season, collecting a pair of home runs and five stolen bases. Able to play second base, third base, shortstop, and all three outfield positions, the 24-year-old will provide the Rays with some depth around the diamond. Tampa Bay also designated right-hander Easton McGee for assignment, selected right-hander Kevin Herget's contract, and optioned fellow infielder and outfielder Miles Mastrobuoni to Triple-A.

Wed Aug 31 202214:36Rays Recall Vidal Brujan
The Tampa Bay Rays recalled infielder and outfielder Vidal Brujan on Wednesday. Brujan has appeared in 46 games for Tampa Bay so far this season, hitting .167 with a .230 on-base percentage, two home runs, and four stolen bases in 152 plate appearances. He's been much more productive at Triple-A, however, with a .301 average, a .385 on-base percentage, four home runs, and 15 stolen bases in 213 plate appearances at the minors' highest level this season. The 24-year-old will give the Rays some added depth around the infield with Brandon Lowe landing on the injured list.

Tue May 24 202214:32Vidal Brujan Not Starting On Tuesday
Tampa Bay Rays infielder Vidal Brujan isn't in the starting lineup on Tuesday for a matchup with the Miami Marlins and right-hander Pablo Lopez. In 40 plate appearances in the Majors this season, Brujan is batting .108 with a .175 on-base percentage and a stolen base. Instead, it'll be Taylor Walls getting the start at second base and batting eighth against Lopez. Walls has hit .149 with a .252 on-base percentage, a home run, and five stolen bases in 115 plate appearances in 2022 for the Rays. Fantasy managers in search of streaming help at second base are probably better off looking elsewhere.

Tue May 10 202216:33Vidal Brujan Called Up On Tuesday
The Tampa Bay Rays called up middle infielder/outfielder Vidal Brujan from Triple-A on Tuesday. Right-handed pitcher Calvin Faucher was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move. Outfielder Manuel Margot (hamstring) suffered a hamstring injury during Monday's game. We haven't gotten any word on the severity of the injury yet, but the move to promote Brujan could be to give the team added outfield depth while Margot gets a little time off. Brujan made one appearance with the Rays earlier this year, but he's spent most of the season at Triple-A, where he's slashed .300/.400/.467 with six doubles, six stolen bases and 15 runs over 16 games.

Mon Apr 25 202221:37Vidal Brujan Optioned To Triple-A On Monday
The Tampa Bay Rays optioned infielder Vidal Brujan to Triple-A Durham on Monday. On Saturday, he was called up while Yandy Diaz was placed on the COVID-19 injured list. During his brief stint in the majors, the 24-year-old went 0-for-3 with a walk across one game. Brujan's best asset is his speed and is worth stashing in deep-league formats when he gets called up again. The Rays infielder swiped 44 bases across 103 games at Triple-A in 2021. In a corresponding move, Jeffrey Springs (COVID-19) was activated from the COVID-19 injured list. Springs is primarily used out of the bullpen, posting a 1-0 record with a 0.71 WHIP and nine strikeouts over seven innings in 2022.

Sat Apr 23 202218:11Yandy Diaz Placed On COVID List, Vidal Brujan Called Up
The Tampa Bay Rays have placed third baseman Yandy Diaz on the COVID-19 injured list. According to the team, he has been dealing with symptoms, but it's unclear if he's tested positive or not. The Rays called up infielder/outfielder Vidal Brujan from Triple-A in a corresponding move. Brujan made his MLB debut with the team last year. He played in 10 games and struggled at the plate, going just 2-for-26. He did, however, successfully steal a base in his first and only attempt. Brujan could serve as something of a super utility player for the Rays while he's up. His best asset is certainly his speed. He stole 44 bases over 103 games at Triple-A last year.

Wed Mar 30 202214:50Rays Option Vidal Brujan To Minor League Camp
The Tampa Bay Rays optioned second baseman/outfielder Vidal Brujan to minor league camp on Wednesday, trimming the number of active players in camp to 37. Brujan went just 2-for-26 with eight strikeouts for the Rays in his first taste of MLB action in 10 games for Tampa in 2021, so he could use a little more minor league seasoning before returning to the Show. But the switch-hitting 24-year-old is the team's No. 4 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and he should show his face in Tampa again at some point in 2022. He's mainly attractive for his speed -- 44 stolen bases in the minors last year -- but it could be difficult for Brujan to secure an everyday role with the Rays in 2022.

Sun Jun 28 202020:51Franco one of several top prospects picked for player pools
Top prospect Wander Franco is part of the Tampa Bay Rays' 60-man player pool, and the Detroit Tigers are including their most heralded young pitchers as baseball gears up for its abbreviated season.Sunday was the deadline for teams to submit player pools, although additions can be made later. Many teams announced pools well below the 60-player limit.Franco, a 19-year-old shortstop, is ranked as the No. 1 prospect in baseball by MLB Pipeline. He spent last season at Class A, so it would be quite a jump for him to contribute in the majors in the immediate future, but putting him in the player pool makes him an option for the Rays — and could help his development in a year when the coronavirus shut down the minor leagues.Pitcher Brendan McKay and infielder Vidal Brujan, two other top Tampa Bay prospects, also made the pool.“They are some of our more advanced prospects," Rays general manager Erik Neander said. “Certainly on the position player side that’s where things went and why Wander was...
