Sun Jun 11 202313:43Jimmy Herget Recalled From Triple-A Salt Lake
Los Angeles Angels relief pitcher Jimmy Herget has been recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake. The 29-year-old right-hander was optioned to the minors in late May but has done well enough in Triple-A for the Angels to bring him back. He owns a rough 4.38 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, and 9:4 K/BB ratio over 12 1/3 innings (12 appearances) at the major league level this season. There's no fantasy appeal here.

Sun May 21 202313:44Jimmy Herget Optioned To Triple-A Salt Lake City
Los Angeles Angels reliever Jimmy Herget has been optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake City. The Angels made a flurry of roster moves that affect their bullpen on Sunday. Along with Herget, Zack Weiss, and Andrew Wantz were also optioned to the minors. In a pair of corresponding moves, the team selected the contracts of Reyes Moronta and Jacob Webb. None of these moves really have a fantasy impact as Carlos Estevez, who has looked good thus far, is locked in as the team's closer.

Sat Mar 18 202323:51Jimmy Herget Competing For Closing Role
Los Angeles Angels reliever Jimmy Herget has joined the conversation to become the teams closer to begin the season. With offseason acquisition Carlos Estevez struggling in spring training with a 15.43 ERA through six appearances, Herget is being strongly considered to start off the season as the closer. After the Halos dealt star closer Raisel Iglesias during last years trade deadline, they turned to their closing committee for the second half. 29-year-old Herget led the committee with nine saves, and the Angels were impressed by his performance in high-leverage situations. In high-pressure situations, he posted a 3.51 FIP with 10 strikeouts across 12 2/3 innings. While Herget is a strong candidate to be the teams closer, other names like Aaron Loup and Jose Quijada are in the mix as well.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — The Texas Rangers have acquired right-hander Josh Sborz from the Los Angeles Dodgers for minor league pitcher Jhan Zambrano. The trade was announced Tuesday, five days after the Dodgers designated Sborz for assignment while signing free agent ace Trevor Bauer. Wed Dec 2 202021:07Injured Santana allowed to become free agent by Rangers
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Switch-hitting outfielder Danny Santana will continue his rehab from elbow surgery as a free agent after the Texas Rangers didn't offer him a contract before Wednesday's deadline. The Rangers also didn't offer contracts to right-hander Jimmy Herget and outfielder Scott Heineman, making them free agents. Santana was the Rangers player of the year during the 2019 season in a utility role, and went into 2020 as the team's starting center fielder. But he played only 15 games this year and was on the injured list twice before surgery on his right elbow in September 9. He isn't expected to be ready for the start of next season. General manager Jon Daniel said the team wanted more time to evaluate Santana as he continues his rehab. “He’s been a pro for the two years he’s been with us and the door remains open depending on a variety of factors,” Daniels said. Santana went to spring training in 2019 as a non-roster player before hitting .283 with 28 homers and 81 RBIs, with at least five starts at every infield and outfield position. He hit .145 with a homer and seven RBIs this year. Herget (1-0, 3.20 ERA) pitched in relief in 19 of his 20 games. Heineman hit .154 with a homer and seven RBIs in 24 games. ___ More AP MLB: https://apnews.com/MLB and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports
Thu Jul 30 202018:56Rangers' Leclerc joins sidelined Kluber with shoulder injury
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — The Texas Rangers will be without closer Jose Leclerc for most of the pandemic-shortened season with a shoulder injury similar to the one that sidelined starter Corey Kluber earlier this week.Leclerc's muscle tear in his right shoulder is not as severe as Kluber's, but he will have the same injection and be out the same four weeks before any plan for throwing is considered, general manager Jon Daniels said Thursday.Kluber pitched just one inning in his Texas debut Sunday before reporting tightness in his shoulder and leaving the game. Leclerc stopped warming up for a save situation in a 7-4 win over Arizona on Wednesday because of shoulder tightness.Neither player is expected to have surgery. Both are on the 45-day injured list.“You just can’t replace guys like with that kind of ability,” Daniels said. “Corey was obviously going to be a big part of our rotation, and we still feel good about the rotation. Jose hadn’t thrown early like we believed he’s capable of, but we were counting on him to pitch high-leverage innings.”Leclerc earned the save on opening day in a 1-0 win over Colorado. The 26-year-old pitched another inning in Sunday's 5-2 loss to the Rockies, giving up two hits and a run.Daniels said the Rangers plan to add right-hander Jimmy Herget to replace Leclerc while swapping first basemen by calling up Greg Bird from the taxi squad and sending down Ronald Guzman. ___More AP MLB: https://apnews.com/MLB and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports
