Wed Aug 2 202318:55Seby Zavala Continues Gaining Playing Time
Chicago White Sox catcher Seby Zavala has seen himself getting more work over the last week or so. Zavala will be making his sixth start behind the plate over the last seven games. Yasmani Grandal finds himself on the bench for the third game in a row. It's unclear if Grandal is dealing with an injury or if Zavala is taking over as the No. 1 catcher. Despite starting, Zavala isn't hitting well enough to warrant rostering in fantasy leagues. He'll be behind the plate and bat ninth versus right-hander Dane Dunning on Wednesday.

Sat Aug 21 202119:31Seby Zavala Hits Fifth Homer
Chicago White Sox catcher Seby Zavala went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's loss versus the Tampa Bay Rays. Zavala's blast in the top of the third inning would put the White Sox on the board, but it wouldn't be enough to hold off the Rays. The catcher has been filling in admirably for Yasmani Grandal (knee), but Grandal is currently on his rehab assignment and he will be the starting catcher upon his return. Zavala is now hitting .225 with five home runs and 14 RBI. He can safely be avoided in all formats.

Fri Aug 13 202109:07Seby Zavala Hits Fourth Home Run
Chicago White Sox catcher Seby Zavala went 1-for-3 with a walk, two runs and a two-run home run in Thursday's victory versus the New York Yankees. Zavala has been filling in with Zack Collins for Yasmani Grandal (knee) at the moment, but Grandal is currently on his rehab assignment and is getting close to returning to the White Sox active roster. Zavala is now hitting .218 with four home runs and 11 RBI. Grandal will take over the catching duties when he returns and that will limit the playing time for Zavala. Zavala should remain on the waiver wire in all formats.

Sat Jul 31 202122:49Seby Zavala Makes History On Saturday
Chicago White Sox catcher Seby Zavala went 4-for-4 with a single, three home runs and six RBI in Saturday's loss versus the Cleveland Indians. The three homers were the first of his career and he became the first player in MLB history to hit his first home run as part of a three-homer game. Zavala has been splitting the catching duties along with Zack Collins, because starter Yasmani Grandal (knee) is sidelined. Grandal has been on the 10-day injured list to repair a tendon in his right knee and isn't expected to be back until the middle or end of August. Despite the impressive showing and opportunity at the moment, Zavala doesn't offer much value to managers and is now hitting .250 with three home runs and seven RBI.
