Sun Mar 1710:37Bo Bichette Hits First Home Run Of Spring
Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette hit his first homer of the spring in a 10-9 Grapefruit League loss to the Yankees on Saturday. The 26-year-old is having a productive spring, hitting .410 (16-for-39) with six RBI, nine runs scored, and two stolen bases. The 1:7 BB:K is a little eye-opening, although the walk rate is not overly surprising for a hitter with a career 5.5% BB%. While Bichette hasn't been blasting home runs in bunches this spring, he does have four doubles included in his 16 hits. The 2x All-Star had a good, albeit somewhat disappointing 2023 stats-wise, but he'll be a top option at shortstop again in 2024. RotoBaller ranks Bichette at 31 overall, ahead of his NFBC ADP of 38.

Thu Feb 2216:25Bo Bichette Trained In Variety Of Ways In The Offseason
Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette took a longer break than normal from baseball activities to reset after the 2023 season. He also trained in other ways, taking up swimming, pilates and Muay Thai. Bichette is happy with the shape he's in at camp as a result and said he's "in a good place to play every day." The 25-year-old missed 25 games with right patellar tendinitis and a right quadriceps strain late last year, so he focused specifically on his right leg and took a holistic approach to his offseason training. Bichette made his second All-Star team in 2023, and despite stealing only five bases, he was one of the better hitters in the game with a .306/.339/.475 slash line with an .814 OPS, 20 homers and 73 RBI in 135 games. In a strong Toronto lineup, he's one of the top fantasy shortstops and is ranked No. 6 at the position by RotoBaller.

Wed Nov 29 202314:45Bo Bichette Likely Staying Put
Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette likely won't be on the move this offseason despite rumors swirling that he could be traded. Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins spoke with the media on Wednesday and seemingly confirmed he is not interested in trading his shortstop. "He's a really good player, we're very fortunate to have him and he's our shortstop," Atkins said. Just 25, Bichette is under club control for two more seasons while he's been among the best pure hitters in the game since debuting in 2019. Bichette is a career .299 hitter with 89 home runs and 51 stolen bases across 528 big-league games. He hit .306 with 20 HR, five SB, and an .814 OPS across 135 games in the 2023 season while his bat has been at least 20% superior to the league average in all five of his seasons, according to wRC+.

Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette (right quad) was activated from the 10-day injured list on Friday afternoon. The 25-year-old had been out since Aug. 27. Fri Sep 1 202319:51Bo Bichette Could Be Back A Week From Now
Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette (quadriceps) did some running, hitting and fielding of ground balls right at him on Friday, and the hope is that he'll be back within the minimum 10 days on the injured list, according to manager John Schneider. Bichette will be first eligible to return from the IL next Friday, Sept. 8. The 25-year-old was placed on the IL for the second time in the second half of the season with a right-quadriceps strain, but it wasn't too serious. The two-time All-Star is one of the best shortstops in the game when healthy and is a must-start in fantasy lineups when he's on the field. When Bichette returns, Ernie Clement will go back to a bench role for the Blue Jays. Bichette is hitting a strong .314/.344/.488 with an .831 OPS, 18 home runs, 62 RBI, three stolen bases and 54 runs scored in 114 games in 2023.

Tue Aug 29 202316:02Bo Bichette Placed On 10-Day Injured List
The Toronto Blue Jays placed shortstop Bo Bichette (quadriceps) on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to Aug. 28) with a right-quadriceps strain on Tuesday and selected the contract of infielder Mason McCoy from the minors in a corresponding move. Bichette injured his quad on Sunday and will return to the IL after recently missing time with patellar knee tendinitis. The good news is that the 25-year-old's quad injury isn't related to his knee, so hopefully he can return when he's eligible early in September. Ernie Clement is getting another start at the 6 for Toronto on Tuesday, but Santiago Espinal is another candidate to see playing time at shortstop until Bichette returns. Bichette is one of the best fantasy shortstops in the game when healthy, so he needs to remain stashed in all leagues.

Mon Aug 28 202316:39Bo Bichette Going For MRI Exam
Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette (quadriceps) is going for an MRI exam on Monday. Bichette was pulled early from Sunday's game against the Cleveland Guardians with right-quadriceps tightness and he's not playing in the series opener on Monday against the Washington Nationals. The Blue Jays apparently pulled Bichette on Sunday out of an abundance of caution, but the fact he's going for an MRI exam could mean it's more serious than they initially believed. Until we know more, fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day and check back for the results on his MRI exam or to see if he has returned to the lineup on Tuesday. The good news is the 25-year-old All-Star's injury is unrelated to the patellar tendinitis in his right knee that caused him to land on the injured list last month.

Mon Aug 28 202315:52Bo Bichette Out Against Nationals
Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette (quadriceps) is not in the team's starting lineup for the start of a series on Monday against the visiting Washington Nationals. Ernie Clement will draw the start at the 6 instead and will hit in the eighth spot against Nationals right-hander Josiah Gray. Bichette was forced from Sunday's game early against the Cleveland Guardians as a precaution with right-quadriceps tightness. Fantasy managers should continue to consider the 25-year-old All-Star to be day-to-day and check back to see if he's able to return on Tuesday. Clement has only seen action in 12 games for Toronto this year and has gone 4-for-8 with two RBI, a stolen base and three runs scored.

Sun Aug 27 202316:00Bo Bichette Removed From Game Sunday
Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette (quadriceps) was replaced in Sunday's game after experiencing tightness in his quad. Expect some sort of further announcement from the Blue Jays after the game, but consider him day-to-day for now.

Sat Aug 19 202316:27Bo Bichette Activated, Playing On Saturday
Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette (knee) has been activated from the 10-day injured list on Saturday. The 25-year-old missed most of the month of August due to tendinitis in his right knee. His return is great news for the Blue Jays who haven't received much production from the shortstop position in his absence. Bichette will play shortstop and bat second versus left-hander Brandon Williamson on Saturday. In a corresponding move, infielder Paul DeJong has been designated for assignment.

Fri Aug 18 202312:30Bo Bichette Expected To Return Saturday
Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette (knee) played shortstop and hit a home run in a minor-league rehab game with Triple-A Buffalo on Thursday and said he checked all of the boxes, so he's expected to return from the injured list and play for the Jays on Saturday against the Cincinnati Reds. "I'll be flying out to Cincinnati and should be in the lineup on Saturday," Bichette said. The 25-year-old All-Star has been out since late July with patellar tendinitis in his right knee, but he looks to be feeling much better and should be returned to all starting fantasy lineups on Saturday. Despite missing time with his knee injury, Bichette still leads the American League with 144 hits this year and also has 17 home runs, 59 RBI and a .321 batting average in 106 games.

Thu Aug 17 202322:03Bo Bichette Goes Deep In Rehab Outing
Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette (knee) went 2-for-2 with a home run, three RBI and a run scored in a minor-league rehab game with Triple-A Buffalo on Thursday. In his first rehab game for Buffalo on Wednesday, Bichette went 2-for-3 with two singles and a run scored, so he's seeing the ball well early in his rehab assignment and should be able to return to the Blue Jays sooner than later. In fact, the 25-year-old All-Star could return as early as Friday's series opener against the Cincinnati Reds. Bichette has been out since late July with patellar tendinitis in his right knee, but he should be rostered in all fantasy leagues as a must-start when healthy. Despite missing time with injury, Bichette is still leading the American League with 144 hits in 106 games.

Tue Aug 15 202320:11Bo Bichette Starting Rehab Assignment Tuesday
Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette (knee) will start his minor-league rehab assignment as the designated hitter on Tuesday night with Triple-A Buffalo, and the plan is for him to play shortstop on Wednesday. A return to the Blue Jays active roster by this weekend against the Cincinnati Reds is a possibility. That should be music to fantasy managers' ears. The 25-year-old is one of the best fantasy options at shortstop when he's healthy, and he still currently leads the league in hits with 144. When he returns, Paul DeJong will operate in more of a utility role for the Blue Jays. Bichette will come back to a strong .321/.352/.494 slash line with an .847 OPS, 17 home runs, 25 doubles, a triple, 59 RBI, three stolen bases and 50 runs scored in his 471 plate appearances. The stolen bases are down, but everything else has been gravy.

Thu Aug 10 202312:21Bo Bichette Not Running At Full Speed Yet
Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette (knee) has been hitting in the cages in Toronto and jogging, but he's not running at full speed yet. It's tough to put a timetable on when he will run at full speed until he's running the bases, but manager John Schneider said he's encouraged and that Bichette is feeling better each day. The 25-year-old All-Star shortstop is attempting to return from a bout of right-patellar tendinitis. Bichette needs to remain stashed in all fantasy leagues, as he's one of the best shortstops in the game when healthy. He has hit .321/.352/.494 on the year with an .847 OPS. His .321 batting average and 144 total hits lead the American League. Bichette has led the AL in hits in each of the last three seasons.

Tue Aug 8 202312:59Bo Bichette Has Good Day Monday
Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette (knee) had a good day while working out on Monday. "Great day for him (Monday) where he was moving around with very few symptoms, almost not at all," general manager Ross Atkins said about Bichette. The 25-year-old All-Star shortstop is attempting to return from patellar tendinitis in his right knee that landed him on the injured list. He's ramping up baseball activities and appears to be in a good place, so hopefully fantasy managers will have him back sooner than later. For what it's worth, Bichette is eligible to return from the injured list this Friday. When healthy, he's a must-start in everyday fantasy lineups, as he's currently slashing .321/.352/.494 with an .847 OPS, 17 home runs, 59 RBI, three steals and 50 runs scored in 449 at-bats.

Wed Aug 2 202316:25Bo Bichette Goes On Injured List
The Toronto Blue Jays are placing shortstop Bo Bichette (knee) on the injured list on Wednesday with right-patellar tendinitis. Bichette was considered day-to-day with knee inflammation on Tuesday, but now he's dealing with tendinitis and will get at least 10 days to rest up. Toronto traded for Paul DeJong at the trade deadline on Tuesday, so he figures to fill in at the 6 for the Jays until Bichette is able to return. The team doesn't expect their star shortstop to be out for an extended period. The 25-year-old made his second All-Star team this year and is currently leading the league with 449 at-bats, 144 hits and a .321 batting average. He needs to be stashed in an IL spot in all fantasy formats for the time being.

Tue Aug 1 202316:21No Structural Damage For Bo Bichette
Updating a previous report, Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider said that shortstop Bo Bichette (knee) underwent an MRI exam on Monday night that showed no significant structural damage, just inflammation. Bichette is considered day-to-day for now. There's a good chance that Bichette won't play on Tuesday against the Baltimore Orioles after leaving early on Monday, but he appears to be able to avoid the injured list. Toronto acquired shortstop Paul DeJong from the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday as insurance for Bichette. Whenever the All-Star shortstop returns to the Jays' lineup, fantasy managers need to reinsert him into their starting lineups.

Tue Aug 1 202316:05Bo Bichette Not Expected To Be Out Long
The Toronto Blue Jays acquired shortstop Paul DeJong from the St. Louis Cardinals at the trade deadline on Tuesday as depth for star shortstop Bo Bichette (knee), but Bichette isn't expected to be out for long. The Jays also checked in on New York Yankees utility man Isiah Kiner-Falefa. Bichette had to leave early on Monday with his knee injury, and although he probably won't play on Tuesday against the visiting Baltimore Orioles, it sounds like he should avoid a stint on the injured list. Bichette is an absolute must-start in fantasy lineups when he's on the field, as he's slashing a very strong .321/.352/.494 with an .847 OPS, 17 home runs, 59 RBI, three steals and 50 runs scored in 449 at-bats this year. He leads the American League in hits (144) and batting average.

Mon Jul 31 202320:34Bo Bichette Leaves Game Early With Apparent Leg Injury
Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette (knee) left his team's Monday night game against the Baltimore Orioles with an apparent injury. Bichette grabbed his right knee after rounding first base following a single to right field. He was replaced in the field at shortstop by Santiago Espinal following the play. If Bichette were forced to miss extended time, it would be a big blow to both the Blue Jays and fantasy managers. Look for Toronto to update his status sometime before Tuesday's game.

Thu Jul 13 202314:04Bo Bichette Leading The American League In Hits
Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette is the current hits leader in the American League with 122. The 25-year-old has put together a sensational first half of the season, slashing .317/.346/.496 with 15 home runs, 52 RBI, and three stolen bases over 385 at-bats. The power and RBI are around what we have come to expect from Bichette but the stolen base count is surprisingly low. He's nabbed three stolen bases on just six attempts after stealing 13 in 2022 and 25 in 2021. Perhaps the theft numbers will tick up in the second half but fantasy managers can't be too upset with Bichette's production up to this point. He's on pace to lead the AL in hits for the third consecutive season while potentially picking up his first silver slugger award in the process.
