Fri Jan 20 202313:21Dereck Rodriguez Re-Signs With Twins
The Minnesota Twins re-signed right-hander Dereck Rodriguez to a minor-league deal on Thursday, according to his agent Gavin Kahn. Rodriguez appeared in 49 games (35 starts) for the San Francisco Giants in his first two major-league seasons in 2018 and 2019, but since then he's made just four relief appearances (two for the Twins in 2022) and has allowed 11 runs (nine earned) on 17 hits (five home runs) while walking seven and striking out six in 11 2/3 innings. The 30-year-old had a 4.75 ERA and 92 strikeouts in 94 2/3 innings at Triple-A St. Paul in 2022. Rodriguez will provide starting and relief depth for the Twins again in 2023 and will likely begin in the minors.
