Mon Feb 514:52Yankees Acquire Caleb Ferguson From Dodgers
The New York Yankees have acquired left-handed reliever Caleb Ferguson from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for fellow southpaw reliever Matt Gage and right-handed prospect Christian Zazueta. Ferguson returned from Tommy John surgery in 2022 to toss a spectacular 1.82 ERA before working to a solid 3.43 ERA across 68 appearances in the 2023 season. Interestingly, his 2023 results were identical to his 3.43 career ERA in 201 appearances (14 starts), all of which have come with the Dodgers. The Yankees recently claimed Gage off waivers from the Houston Astros after he posted a 2.70 ERA in 5 outings with the team in 2023 while also posting a 4.58 ERA at Triple-A Sugar Land in 34 appearances. Zazueta, 19, posted a 3.29 ERA in 12 outings with the Yankees' Dominican Summer League Affiliate in 2023.

Tue Sep 26 202312:26Caleb Ferguson Serving As Game 1 Opener Tuesday
Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Caleb Ferguson is serving as the team's opener on Tuesday for the first game of their doubleheader against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field. After Ferguson goes a few innings, right-hander Ryan Pepiot is expected to enter as the bulk reliever. The 27-year-old Ferguson isn't a recommended fantasy streamer, as it would be a surprise to see him go more than an inning in this one. The left-handed reliever has had a fine year for the Dodgers this year, though, going 7-3 with a 2.47 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, three saves and 67 strikeouts in 58 1/3 innings over 65 appearances (six starts). In his six starts in 2023, Ferguson has allowed two earned runs while striking out five in just six innings of work.

Fri Sep 22 202312:18Caleb Ferguson To Open On Friday Against Giants
Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Caleb Ferguson will serve as the team's opener on Friday against the division-rival San Francisco Giants, with lefty Ryan Yarbrough expected to be the bulk reliever behind him, according to manager Dave Roberts. Ferguson has been solid for the Blue this year, going 7-3 with a 2.56 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, three saves and 66 strikeouts in 56 1/3 innings over 63 appearances (five starts) this year, but he's not going to go deep enough to give fantasy managers a chance at a win against San Fran. In his five starts, Ferguson allowed two earned runs while walking one and striking out five in just five innings.

Tue May 9 202315:52Caleb Ferguson Goes On Paternity List
The Los Angeles Dodgers placed left-hander Caleb Ferguson on the paternity list on Tuesday and recalled pitcher Justin Bruihl from the minors in a corresponding move. Ferguson is leaving the team temporarily to be with his wife for the birth of their first child. Meanwhile, Bruihl will give the Dodgers some relief depth over the next two days of the series against the Milwaukee Brewers. The 26-year-old Ferguson should be back with the club for the start of another crucial three-game series against the division-rival San Diego Padres on Friday. He's been a key bullpen piece for LA so far this year, recording a stingy 1.26 ERA (2.65 FIP), 0.84 WHIP, three walks and 14 strikeouts in 14 1/3 relief innings.

Mon May 3 202121:33Dodger downer: Pitcher Dustin May to have Tommy John surgery
CHICAGO (AP) — Dustin May got an MRI on Monday morning, and that was it. His season was over. May will have Tommy John surgery next week, leaving the Los Angeles Dodgers without one of baseball’s top young pitchers for the rest of their title defense. “It’s a big blow,” manager Dave Roberts said before the team’s series opener against the Cubs was postponed because of inclement weather in the forecast. “But we’ve got a lot of talented players, and we just got to find a way to fill that void.” The 23-year-old May was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday, a day after the right-hander winced in pain on the mound and was forced to leave a start at Milwaukee. The World Series champion Dodgers, already beset by several injuries to their pitching staff, said Dr. Neal El Attrache will perform May's ligament reconstruction surgery on May 11 in Los Angeles. “It’s obviously very disappointing,” Roberts said. “He’s handling it like a pro. You know, wants to figure out what’s the next step after... [More]

Roberts said Sunday the 23-year-old May would get an MRI when the team arrives in Chicago on Monday to begin a series against the Cubs.
