Tue Jan 2316:30Phillies Agree To Terms With Kolby Allard
The Philadelphia Phillies agreed to terms on an undisclosed one-year deal with free-agent left-hander Kolby Allard on Tuesday. Allard will remain in the National League East after returning to the Atlanta Braves for the 2023 season. He only made four appearances (three starts) for the Braves and allowed nine earned runs with four walks and 13 strikeouts in 12 1/3 innings pitched at the big-league level. The 26-year-old southpaw didn't make his season debut until mid-July due to nerve inflammation in his left shoulder. Allard will give the Phillies some starting-pitching depth entering the 2024 campaign and has an option remaining, so he could open the year at Triple-A Lehigh Valley. He's been pretty inconsistent in 245 career innings in the majors over six seasons, posting a 6.10 ERA (5.31 FIP) and 1.43 WHIP with 204 strikeouts and 84 walks in 69 outings (38 starts).

Tue Jul 18 202312:21Braves Put Kolby Allard On 60-Day Injured List
The Atlanta Braves placed left-hander Kolby Allard (shoulder) on the 60-day injured list (retroactive to July 17) with left-shoulder nerve inflammation on Tuesday and selected the contract of outfielder Forrest Wall from the minors in a corresponding move. Allard's injured-list placement comes after he left his start on Sunday early against the Chicago White Sox. There's now a chance that the 25-year-old southpaw won't pitch again for the Braves for the rest of the season. It's been a frustrating year for Allard, as he's posted a 6.57 ERA (4.26 FIP), 1.62 WHIP, four walks and 13 strikeouts in 12 1/3 innings over four appearances (three starts) in his first year in Atlanta. Fantasy managers that have Allard rostered in deeper redraft leagues should probably dump him now.

Sun Jul 16 202316:46Kolby Allard Dealing With Shoulder Tightness
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Kolby Allard (shoulder) exited Sunday's game against the Chicago White Sox. The 25-year-old was on the bump for only 1 2/3 innings, allowing four runs before he departed because of tightness in his left shoulder. Injuries like this are never good, meaning he might find his way to the injured list. However, he'll probably undergo testing soon to determine the cause. At any rate, Allard has a 4.22 ERA and an 0-1 record in three starts this season, so it wouldn't be a significant loss for fantasy managers if he misses time.

Thu Mar 9 202319:58Kolby Allard To Be Placed On Injured List
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Kolby Allard (oblique) won't be ready for Opening Day. The left-hander has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 right oblique strain on Thursday. That being said, Allard is going to begin the season on the injured list. There was a chance that Allard would make the Opening Day roster. Both Kyle Wright (shoulder) and Michael Soroka (hamstring) are dealing with injuries, so Allard had a chance at cracking the roster. Allard should join the MLB roster at some point this season, but isn't someone worth holding in fantasy leagues right now.

Wed Nov 9 202220:25Kolby Allard Shipped To The Braves
The Atlanta Braves acquired left-hander Kolby Allard from the Texas Rangers on Wednesday in exchange for right-hander Jake Odorizzi and cash considerations. Allard returns to Atlanta after they took him in the first round of the 2015 draft. The 25-year-old southpaw made only 10 relief appearances for Texas in 2022 and had a rough 7.29 ERA (7.87 FIP), a 1.29 WHIP, one save and 19 strikeouts in his 21 innings pitched. As a starter in the minors, he was a bit better with a 4.65 ERA in 89 innings over 20 starts. Allard pitched in 32 games (17 starts) and had a 5.41 ERA (5.37 FIP) with a 1.27 WHIP and 104 strikeouts in a career-high 124 2/3 innings. It's unclear if the Braves have plans on returning him to a starting role in the big leagues.

Sun Jul 10 202212:54Matt Bush Activated, Kolby Allard Sent To Triple-A
The Texas Rangers have activated right-handed pitcher Matt Bush (forearm) from the 15-day injured list. Left-handed pitcher Kolby Allard was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move. Bush was on the injured list for a little over two weeks with right forearm soreness. The 36-year-old has primarily been used as a setup man this year, but he's also made three starts as an opener. Over 30 total appearances, he's pitched to a 4.05 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP while compiling a 2-1 record, eight holds and one save.

Wed Jul 6 202222:26Kolby Allard Back In The Big Leagues
The Texas Rangers recalled pitcher Kolby Allard from Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday. He was demoted to minors in mid-June after struggling with a 5.06 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and 12:3 K: BB over 16 innings with the Rangers. Since being demoted, the 24-year-old has been solid in the minors, allowing three earned runs while striking out 14 over his last 9 1/3 innings. If Allard can carry this momentum into the big leagues, the southpaw could be a potential streaming option in deep-league formats if he can crack the rotation. John King was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Fri Sep 17 202110:19Kolby Allard Roughed Up In Relief Appearance
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Kolby Allard missed his previous start due to a non-COVID related illness. The organization decided to have him piggyback right-hander Glenn Otto who started Thursday's game against the Houston Astros. Allard didn't fare well in his outing and allowed five earned runs, four walks, and registered four strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings. It's uncertain if the Rangers plan on moving Allard back to the rotation or doing more outings like this. Regardless, Allard isn't going to be a fantasy option down the stretch.

Sun Sep 5 202100:42Kolby Allard Gives Acceptable Outing
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Kolby Allard has not been a great option for the team during the second half of the season. Allard has struggled to keep the ball in the park and it was more of the same on Saturday. He went 5 2/3 innings, five hits allowed, three earned runs, one walk, and four strikeouts in the 4-1 loss. Allard allowed two home runs in this outing, but pitched fairly well besides that. He won't be much of a streaming option against the Oakland Athletics for his next time out.

Mon Aug 23 202119:57Kolby Allard Records Fourth Straight Quality Start
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Kolby Allard was able to hold his own against the Boston Red Sox on Monday. He went six innings, four hits allowed, three earned runs, three walks, and five strikeouts in the 8-4 loss. Allard did allow a pair of home runs in the game, which seems to be a common theme for him. Despite that, he was able to earn his fourth straight quality start on Monday. He won't be an ideal streaming option against the Houston Astros in his next start.

Sun Aug 15 202120:42Kolby Allard Notches Third Quality Start In A Row
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Kolby Allard appears to be getting into a groove on the mound. On Sunday, he notched his third straight quality start in a 7-4 victory over the Oakland Athletics. Allard went 6 1/3 innings, seven hits allowed, three earned runs, and two strikeouts on Sunday. He gave up a pair of home runs, but was able to limit the damage for the most part. He'll take a 4.88 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and 79 strikeouts over 94 innings into his next outing versus the Boston Red Sox. This will be a tough matchup for Allard and he can be avoided for streaming purposes for that one.

Thu Aug 5 202111:27Kolby Allard Posts Quality Start On Wednesday
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Kolby Allard pitched fairly well during Wednesday's 2-1 defeat to the Los Angeles Angels. He tossed six innings, six hits allowed, two earned runs, three walks, and one strikeout. Allard wasn't missing bats, but at least he was able to escape most of the jams he was in. He'll carry a 5.07 ERA and 1.21 WHIP into his next outing against the Seattle Mariners. That won't exactly be a favorable streaming situation for Allard. He pitched well here, but don't count on it to happen frequently.

Sat Jul 31 202102:55Joey Votto homers for 7th straight game, 1 shy of MLB record
NEW YORK (AP) — Joey Votto homered for the seventh straight game, one shy of a major league record, and the Cincinnati Reds beat the New York Mets 6-2 on Friday night. Jonathan India went deep twice for the Reds, including a leadoff shot that came on Carlos Carrasco’s first pitch with the Mets. Acquired from Cleveland in January, the veteran right-hander finally made his New York debut after recovering from a hamstring injury. It was an up-and-down day for the Mets, who made a big deal to get Javier Báez from the Chicago Cubs before baseball’s trade deadline — and then revealed injured ace Jacob deGrom will be shut down for two more weeks because of inflammation in his pitching elbow, making it unlikely he’ll rejoin the NL East leaders before September. Báez was acquired from the Cubs along with right-hander Trevor Williams for outfield prospect Pete Crow-Armstrong, the Mets’ first-round pick in the 2020 amateur draft. Báez is expected to join the Mets on Saturday and will play shortstop... [More]

Sat Jul 24 202103:13Rafael Devers homers twice, Red Sox beat Yankees 6-2
BOSTON (AP) — Rafael Devers hit two home runs, including a go-ahead blast in the fifth inning, to help the Boston Red Sox best New York Yankees ace Gerrit Cole for the second straight time at Fenway Park in a 6-2 victory Friday night. Devers followed his two-run with a three-run homer in the seventh — the 100th of his career — to help Boston improve to 9-2 against New York this season. The Red Sox maintained their one-game AL East lead over Tampa Bay and increased their lead to nine games over the third-place Yankees. Yacksel Rios (3-0) got the victory, pitching two scoreless innings to cap a strong night from the bullpen after starter Eduardo Rodriguez left in the second inning after experiencing migraine symptoms. Cole (10-5) started strong for New York, but was pulled after fiving innings, giving up three runs off six hits, striking out eight and walking two. Sun Jul 18 202123:32Escobar HR, single lead Nats past Padres in series finale
WASHINGTON (AP) — Alcides Escobar homered in the eighth inning and hit a winning single in the ninth Sunday as the Washington Nationals wrapped up a disturbing weekend with an 8-7 win over the San Diego Padres. A day after the game was suspended in the sixth inning because of a shooting outside Nationals Park, the Padres completed a 10-4 victory. Washington then came back to end a six-game losing streak. Tres Barrera singled off Mark Melancon (2-2) with one out in the ninth and, after failing on a bunt attempt, Victor Robles was hit by pitch. Escobar hit a flyball that center fielder Trent Grisham couldn’t corral and Barrera scored. Brad Hand (5-2) earned the victory. Juan Soto joined Josh Harrison with three hits and added a two-run homer. Manny Machado, Eric Hosmer and Jackson Profar homered for the Padres. Nationals ace Max Scherzer allowed four runs on four hits in seven innings. He struck out eight. In the completion of Saturday's suspended game, Fernando Tatis Jr. had his third four-hit... [More]
