Wed Jun 26 201301:52Brandon Inge hits three-run homer for Pirates
Brandon Inge went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer Tuesday against the Mariners.
His other hit was a double. Now that Neil Walker is healthy and Pedro Alvarez is producing, Inge's infield time is very limited. However, the Pirates have been struggling to find any sort of answer in right field, and if Inge can get hot for a little while, the Pirates have little to lose by using him out there. He'll probably just play against left-handers for now.

Brandon Inge will start in right field Friday for the first time in his major league career.
Inge played five innings in right field with the Tigers back in 2005, but this will be his first start. The 35-year-old has been filling in for Neil Walker (hand) at second base, but Jordy Mercer will get the start there Friday.

Wed May 1 201316:46Brandon Inge delivers go-ahead hit in win
Brandon Inge went 2-for-4 with a go-ahead single in the top of the eighth as the Pirates beat the Brewers 6-4 on Wednesday.
The single was a soft liner that eluded second baseman Rickie Weeks. Weeks actually kicked the ball all of the way into foul territory, allowing Inge to reach three base on the play. He then came around to score an insurance run on a rare Pedro Alvarez single. With Neil Walker hurting, Inge has started seven games since coming off the DL on April 23. He doesn't figure to have any long-term value in NL-only leagues, but he's been useful so far with his .321 average in 28 at-bats.

Brandon Inge has been diagnosed with an incomplete fracture in his right scapula (shoulder blade).

Brandon Inge went 0-for-2 on Thursday and is 3-for-22 with no extra-base hits as he attempts to win a spot on Pittsburgh's bench.
Inge is coming back from right shoulder surgery, and it appears that he might not be 100 percent yet. It doesn't bode well for his chances of sticking. He can opt for free agency at the end of the month if he doesn't make the Pirates.

Brandon Inge will test out his surgically-repaired right shoulder in a split-squad game on Sunday.
The veteran infielder is vying for a bench role with the Pirates this season, and needs to get into action quickly if he's to have any hope at cracking the Opening Day roster. Despite his inability to make consistent contact, his power and defensive versatility could play well off the bench.

Brandon Inge has a late-March opt-out clause in his minor league contract with the Pirates.
In other words, he can become a free agent if it appears unlikely that he's going to win a spot on the Pirates' Opening Day roster. Inge batted just .218/.275/.383 last season but slugged 12 home runs in 83 games. Pittsburgh has been missing that kind of pop on the bench.
