Mon Mar 1810:30Huascar Ynoa Optioned To Triple-A
The Atlanta Braves have demoted starting pitcher Huascar Ynoa to Triple-A Gwinnett. Ynoa, 25, is returning from Tommy John surgery that he underwent in 2022. He tossed a scoreless inning this spring with one strikeout. The Braves are likely to have a workload limit on the right-hander, no matter which level he is at this season. He can safely remain on the waiver wire in all formats.

Fri Feb 1600:11Huascar Ynoa Throws Bullpen Session
Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker said that he saw right-hander Huascar Ynoa (elbow) throw a bullpen session the other day in camp after coming back from Tommy John surgery at the end of the 2022 season. "He looks great, I know that," Snitker said. The 25-year-old missed the entire 2023 campaign, but he appears to be making good progress and could be ready for the start of the 2024 regular season, barring any setbacks. The Dominican hurler has appeared in 31 games (24 starts) in four major-league seasons with Atlanta, going a combined 4-8 with a 5.22 ERA (4.35 FIP) and 1.32 WHIP with 45 walks and 128 strikeouts in 122 1/3 innings pitched. When healthy, Ynoa has some nice strikeout upside, but he'll surely be on an innings limit in 2024 after missing all of last season.

Fri Jan 520:18Braves Sign Luis Guillorme, Avoid Arbitration With Huascar Ynoa
The Atlanta Braves signed free-agent infielder Luis Guillorme to a one-year, $1.1 million eal on Friday and also avoided salary arbitration with right-hander Huascar Ynoa by inking him to a one-year, $825,000 deal. Guillorme, 29, is a left-handed hitter who played second base, third base and shortstop in 2023 and slashed .261/.344/.333 in 823 plate appearances over the last six seasons in Queens. The Venezuelan utility infielder is mostly useful for his defensive abilities, as he has only five home runs and 48 RBI in 334 career games played, and playing time isn't going to be easy to come by in Atlanta. Ynoa missed all of last season after having Tommy John surgery in September of 2022. The 25-year-old should be ready to go at some point in 2024, but he holds a bloated 5.22 ERA and 1.32 WHIP in 122 1/3 innings over 31 appearances (24 starts) in his four years with the Braves.

Thu Sep 8 202211:24Huascar Ynoa Undergoes Tommy John Surgery
Atlanta Braves right-hander Huascar Ynoa (elbow) underwent successful Tommy John surgery to reconstruct the ulnar collateral ligament in his right arm. Dr. Keith Meister performed the procedure in Arlington, Texas. The 24-year-old hadn't pitched in the minor leagues for Triple-A Gwinnett since Aug. 24, and now we know why. After going under the knife for elbow reconstruction, Ynoa will likely miss all of next season as well as the rest of the 2022 campaign. He made two starts for Atlanta this year, allowing 10 earned runs on 11 hits while striking out eight and walking six in 6 2/3 innings. In 18 outings (17 starts) for Gwinnett, Ynoa had a 5.68 ERA, a 1.39 WHIP and an 87:35 K:BB in 77 2/3 frames.

Sun Aug 7 202212:13Ian Anderson Optioned, Huascar Ynoa Recalled By Braves
The Atlanta Braves optioned right-hander Ian Anderson and outfielder Guillermo Heredia to Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday and recalled right-hander Huascar Ynoa and selected catcher Chadwick Tromp's contract in corresponding moves. Anderson was solid last year with a 3.58 ERA and 1.23 WHIP in 24 starts, but he's really struggled in 2022, going 9-6 with a 5.11 ERA (4.24 FIP), a 1.54 WHIP, 93 strikeouts and a league-high 53 walks in 105 2/3 innings over 21 starts. He'll head to the minors in order to work on his control. Ynoa has made two starts for Atlanta this year, allowing 10 earned runs on 11 hits (two homers) while striking out eight and walking six in just 6 2/3 frames. He also has a 5.38 ERA in 72 innings at Gwinnett, but there is some strikeout upside here.

Tue Apr 19 202215:40Huascar Ynoa Demoted To Minors
The Atlanta Braves optioned right-hander Huascar Ynoa to Triple-A Gwinnett following the game on Monday night. In corresponding moves, right-hander Touki Toussaint and left-hander Dylan Lee were recalled, while left-hander Sean Newcomb was designated for assignment. Ynoa wasn't good in his first two starts of the season, allowing 10 earned runs on 11 hits while walking six and striking out eight over just 6 2/3 innings pitched. The 23-year-old allowed five runs and four walks in just 3 2/3 frames in his outing against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday. Since suffering a broken hand last year, Ynoa has been unreliable in Atlanta's rotation. Bryce Elder, who has pitched well so far, will remain in the Braves rotation for now.

Thu Apr 14 202218:13Bryce Elder To Start Sunday, Huascar Ynoa Pushed Back To Tuesday
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Bryce Elder will start on Sunday Night Baseball versus the Padres with Huascar Ynoa being pushed back to Tuesday, according to David O'Brien. Elder will pitch on normal rest after he tossed 5 2/3 innings of three-run ball on Tuesday against the Nationals. Elder, who was at minor league camp in March, is more stretched out than most pitchers who were affected by shortened Spring Training and the Braves want to give Ynoa extra rest with an off day on Monday. Elder was fifth-round pick in the 2020 draft and ascended quickly as he pitched in High-A, Double-A, and Triple-A in 2021 and averaged more than a strikeout-per-inning at every stop. He's a name to add in keeper leagues and could have some streamer appeal for fantasy managers looking for another Sunday starter.

Mon Mar 28 202214:22Kyle Wright, Huascar Ynoa The Front-Runners For Rotation
Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker said that pitchers Kyle Wright and Huascar Ynoa are likely the front-runners for the two open starting rotation spots to begin the 2022 season. Wright, a 26-year-old right-hander, has a rough 6.56 ERA and 1.69 WHIP in 21 career major league outings (14 starts) over 70 innings pitched. He won't be attractive in shallow mixed leagues, but he could be worth a look in NL-only formats if he sticks in Atlanta's rotation. Ynoa had shoulder inflammation in the playoffs last year, but the 23-year-old appears to be fine this spring and was promising with a 4.05 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 100 strikeouts and 25 walks in 91 innings last season.

Wed Oct 20 202118:17Huascar Ynoa Scratched From NLCS Game 4 Start
Atlanta Braves pitcher Huascar Ynoa (shoulder) was scratched from his scheduled start on Wednesday as Atlanta's opener for Game 4 of the National League Championship Series. Ynoa was scratched because of shoulder inflammation. Instead, reliever Jesse Chavez will take the ball first as the team's opener. The right-hander pitched to a 2.14 ERA and a 2.01 FIP in 33.2 innings during the regular season, striking out 36 batters while surrendering 11 walks. In 3.1 innings this postseason, Chavez has allowed three hits and a pair of walks while striking out two batters.

Sat Oct 2 202100:46Huascar Ynoa Gives Up Three Runs To Mets
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Huascar Ynoa has been fairly strong whenever he has been on the mound this season. However, wasn't on his best game during Friday's matchup with the New York Mets. Ynoa went five innings, six hits allowed, three earned runs, two walks, and six strikeouts in the 4-3 loss. He went three scoreless innings, but then things got bad for Ynoa on the mound. He'll finish the season with a 4.05 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 100/25 K/BB ratio across 91 innings. Ynoa should have a rotation spot locked up in Atlanta heading into the 2022 season.

Sun Sep 26 202111:37Huascar Ynoa Allows Seven Runs Against Padres
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Huascar Ynoa allowed three home runs in what ended up being an ugly outing for him. He went 4 2/3 innings, seven hits allowed, seven earned runs, six strikeouts in the 10-8 win over the San Diego Padres. The Braves offense came around and gave Ynoa a ton of run support. This was one of the worst outings for Ynoa in his big league career. Although, he should bounce back in his final start of the regular season against the New York Mets.

Tue Sep 21 202110:52Huascar Ynoa Shaky Versus Diamondbacks
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Huascar Ynoa has normally been a reliable option, but he struggled during Monday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He went four innings and allowed five hits, three earned runs, two walks and two strikeouts in the 11-4 win. He ended up with a no-decision in what was expected to be a favorable outing for Ynoa. Nonetheless, he'll take a 3.43 ERA into his next start versus the San Diego Padres. He'll be an avoidable streaming option for that matchup.

Thu Sep 16 202110:29Huascar Ynoa Strikes Out Eight In Short Outing
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Huascar Ynoa hasn't received much run support lately, and it was more of the same during Wednesday's game. Ynoa went 4 2/3 innings and allowed four hits, two earned runs, two walks, and struck out eight in the 3-2 loss to the Colorado Rockies. Ynoa is 0-3 in six starts since returning from the injured list, so clearly he doesn't get much run support. Despite that, he is posting a 3.26 ERA and should be a decent fantasy option because of his high strikeout rate.

Fri Sep 10 202111:56Huascar Ynoa Gets No-Decision Against Nationals
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Huascar Ynoa returned where he left off since coming back off the injured list. On Thursday, he went five innings, three hits allowed, two earned runs, two walks, and seven strikeouts in the 7-6 win over the Washington Nationals. The 23-year-old has posted a 3.54 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 28/8 K/BB since returning on August 17. He is scheduled to pitch against the Colorado Rockies at home on Wednesday. Fantasy managers should continue to rely on Ynoa against the Rockies shaky lineup.

Sat Sep 4 202100:32Huascar Ynoa Allows Four Runs Against Rockies
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Huascar Ynoa wasn't on his best game against the Colorado Rockies on Friday. He went 5 2/3 innings, five hits allowed, four earned runs, one walk, and five strikeouts in the 4-3 loss. The 23-year-old wasn't perfect, but he has been solid throughout most of the season. He'll carry a 3.19 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 71/17 K/BB ratio into his next start against the Washington Nationals. That is certainly a more favorable outing for Ynoa. Fantasy managers should expect a bounce back game for Ynoa next time out.

Sun Aug 29 202100:11Huascar Ynoa Posts Quality Start Versus Giants
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Huascar Ynoa was fairly sharp during Saturday's contest versus the San Francisco Giants. He went six innings, three hits allowed, two earned runs, three walks, and three strikeouts in the 5-0 loss. The Braves offense didn't give him any run support, but fantasy managers should continue riding with Ynoa. He'll get a tough matchup in Coors Field against the Colorado Rockies on Thursday.

On Monday, he went six innings, four hits allowed, three earned runs, one walk, and nine strikeouts in the 5-1 loss to the New York Yankees. Wed Aug 18 202111:02Huascar Ynoa Tosses Five Scoreless Innings In Return
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Huascar Ynoa (hand) made his return from the injured list on Tuesday against the Miami Marlins. He went five 1/3 innings, three hits allowed, zero earned runs, one walk, and four strikeouts in the 2-0 victory. This was Ynoa's first start since fracturing his hand back in May. He returned just as sharp and Ynoa sounds like a safe fantasy option against the New York Yankees in his next outing.

Tue Aug 17 202113:03Huascar Ynoa Returning Tuesday
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Huascar Ynoa (hand) has been activated from the injured list and is expected to start Tuesday's game against the Miami Marlins. Ynoa landed on the IL back on May 17 after fracturing his right hand. Before his injury, he was pitching very well with a 3.02 ERA, 27.9 K%, and 6.1 BB%. Ynoa might need a couple of starts to get back into form, but fantasy managers rostering Ynoa should be comfortable putting him right back into action. In a corresponding move, the Braves optioned right-hander Jacob Webb to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Sat Aug 14 202110:55Huascar Ynoa Likely To Start On Tuesday
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Huascar Ynoa (hand) is expected to take the mound on Tuesday against the Miami Marlins. It's worth noting that the organization has not officially said anything about it. However, lefty Kyle Muller was optioned to the minors recently and that leaves an open spot in the rotation. Ynoa was average during his most recent rehab outing. Despite that, he was pitching extremely well before the injury. Ynoa is worth snagging in all fantasy formats even just as a streaming option versus the Marlins.
