SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Chadwick Tromp and the San Francisco Giants agreed on a one-year deal Wednesday after the team declined to tender a contract to the rookie catcher from Aruba before last week's deadline. Tromp announced on social media he would be returning to the Giants, who initially signed him to a minor league deal for last season. SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) — San Francisco Giants hitting coach Alonzo Powell never considered stepping away when he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Being around the game is good therapy, he said, and all he had to do was find a way to work his radiation treatments into his busy schedule.The 54-year-old was diagnosed during a routine physical in 2017 while he was on the Houston Astros' coaching staff. He underwent a biopsy after the '17 World Series, which the Astros won, and was told in January 2018 that he had prostate cancer.As Powell says, 2017 was the best year of his life, but in '18, his favorite college football team, Oklahoma, lost the Rose Bowl and he was told he had cancer."I'm in 2018 and I'm already 0 for 2," he said.Powell started radiation treatments on Jan. 8, 2018, and finished his 40th on Thursday, prompting a celebration by the Giants players."I made it through it and didn't have any issues and I was still able to come out and do my job which meant a lot to me to get...
