Free agent right-hander Joe Harvey signed with the Atlanta Braves on a minor-league deal. Harvey has been assigned to the Braves Triple-A camp, the Gwinnett Stripers, and hopes to get promoted at some point this season. The 31-year-old didn't pitch at all in 2022 after electing free agency at the end of 2021 and has been derailed by a handful of forearm injuries. He last pitched in 2021 with the Triple-A affiliates of the Colorado Rockies and Minnesota Twins. Harvey amassed a 5.40 ERA with 24 strikeouts and a 1.980 WHIP between the two organizations. He made 15 appearances with 13 2/3 innings. If the Braves can work their pitching reclamation project formula, then perhaps Harvey will be a contributor out of the bullpen. His walk rates would certainly need to descend for anything to happen. Otherwise, he will likely stick around in Triple-A.
