Wed Feb 2116:37Brandon Marsh Progresses To Jogging
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Brandon Marsh (knee) has progressed to jogging at spring training. Marsh had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in early February and was expected to need three to four weeks before making a full recovery. The 26-year-old left-handed hitter obviously won't be ready for the start of Grapefruit League games this weekend, but the Phillies are expecting him to be ready for Opening Day, barring a setback in his recovery from the minor surgery. When he's healthy, Marsh figures to be the team's starting left fielder against right-handed pitching, but he'll lose at-bats to Whit Merrifield against left-handers. Even though Marsh lowered his strikeout rate in 2023, he still struck out a third of the time. He's still an asset in mixed fantasy leagues because of his above-average power and his speed, and he's great defensively for the Phils as well.

Fri Feb 912:15Brandon Marsh Undergoes Knee Surgery
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Brandon Marsh (knee) underwent successful left-knee arthroscopic debridement surgery with Dr. Steven Cohen in Philadelphia on Friday morning. It's expected that Marsh will return to playing at three to four weeks and be ready for Opening Day. The surgery wasn't all that invasive, but if the 26-year-old has any setbacks at all during spring training, he'll most likely have the start of his 2024 campaign delayed slightly in the season's first month. When healthy, Marsh should see most of the playing time for the Phils in left field, and he's also an option to play in center field if Johan Rojas isn't ready for an everyday role. Marsh played well in 2023 in his first full season in Philly but struck out a third of the time and is still slightly more valuable for his glove than his bat. He'll give fantasy managers modest totals in homers and speed.

Fri Oct 20 202319:11Brandon Marsh Remains In The Lineup
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Brandon Marsh remains in the starting lineup ahead of Friday's Game 4 against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Normally, the Phillies would play matchups here and have Marsh sit against a left-handed starting pitcher. Instead, Phillies' manager Rob Thompson has decided to stick with the same lineup as Game 3. Marsh will bat eighth and cover left field versus left-hander Jon Mantiply on Friday. This will be the first time that Marsh has been in the lineup against a left-handed pitcher this postseason.

Thu Oct 12 202319:16Brandon Marsh Remains In Starting Lineup
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Brandon Marsh remains in the starting lineup for Game 4 of the NLDS versus the Atlanta Braves on Thursday. Marsh is batting eighth and watching left field, allowing Kyle Schwarber to occupy the designated hitter spot as the leadoff hitter. Marsh joined Philadelphia's six-homer barrage in Game 3 with an eighth-inning solo blast to put the icing on the cake of a 10-2 triumph. The 25-year-old might be worthy of DFS consideration in single-game showdowns against ace right-hander Spencer Strider, since Marsh is 4-for-11 with a big fly, a double, and two RBI in 12 career regular-season plate appearances.

Wed Oct 4 202318:07Brandon Marsh Remains On The Bench
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Brandon Marsh remains on the bench once again ahead of Wednesday's Game 2 of the Wild Card round versus the Miami Marlins. The 25-year-old sat out Game 1 versus a southpaw and he'll do it again on Wednesday. The Phillies will elect to use Cristian Pache, Johan Rojas and Nick Castellanos in the outfield versus left-hander Braxton Garrett for Game 2. It's possible that Marsh comes off the bench on Wednesday, but he won't be worth a look in DFS contests.

Wed Aug 23 202314:22Brandon Marsh Re-Enters Starting Lineup Wednesday
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Brandon Marsh is back in the starting lineup Wednesday afternoon versus the visiting San Francisco Giants. Marsh didn't start Tuesday night's contest with the Giants but played a key role in his club's 4-3 win, notching a key pinch-hit single before scoring the game-winning run in walk-off fashion. The 25-year-old came out of the gate white-hot in April before cooling off in May but has once again caught fire at the plate lately, hitting .389 with a 1.061 OPS in seven games in the month of August. All told, Marsh is hitting a healthy .283 with eight home runs, seven stolen bases, and an .828 OPS across 103 games played on the campaign. He will hit eighth and take on Giants right-hander Alex Cobb Wednesday afternoon.

Sun Aug 20 202315:27Brandon Marsh Activated From Injured List
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Brandon Marsh was recalled from his rehab assignment and activated off the 10-day IL. Marsh ran into a wall earlier this month and was out with a left knee contusion. In his first year with the Phillies, the lefty hitter had a .300/.392/.489 slash line against right-handers with six of his eight home runs over 233 at-bats before going down. That's plenty good enough to help fantasy managers if you can pick and choose when to start him depending on the opposing pitcher.

Tue Aug 15 202322:51Brandon Marsh To Start Rehab Assignment This Week
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Brandon Marsh (knee) did some running on Tuesday to test his injured left knee and he's scheduled to begin a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Lehigh Valley this week. Marsh looked to be moving well before the IronPigs' Tuesday night game. If the 25-year-old can avoid any setbacks this week in the minors, he should be able to return to the Phillies by early next week. Marsh has been sidelined since Aug. 6 with a bruised left knee, but he's getting ready to return soon. He was having a pretty impressive season in his first full season with the Phils before the injury, slashing .281/.367/.460 with an .827 OPS, eight home runs, 20 doubles, six triples, 43 RBI, six stolen bases and 41 runs scored in 101 games. Marsh should play regularly against right-handed pitchers when he's back in the bigs.

Sun Aug 6 202312:23Brandon Marsh Lands On Injured List
The Philadelphia Phillies placed outfielder Brandon Marsh (knee) on the 10-day injured list on Sunday with a bruised left knee and recalled infielder Weston Wilson from Triple-A Lehigh Valley in a corresponding move. Marsh will be out for two to three weeks. Wilson will play some left field with Jake Cave and whenever Kyle Schwarber isn't serving as the designated hitter. With Marsh sidelined, rookie Johan Rojas should see regular starts in center field for the Phillies. It's a tough break for the 25-year-old Marsh, who had been hot at the plate since the All-Star break. Overall, he's hitting .284/.369/.463 with an .833 OPS, eight home runs, 20 doubles, six triples, 44 RBI, six stolen bases and 41 runs scored in 101 games in his first full season in Philadelphia.

Sat Aug 5 202321:51Brandon Marsh Exits Early With Bruised Knee
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Brandon Marsh (knee) exited Saturday's win over the Kansas City Royals with a bruised left knee. He went 1-for-2 before being removed in the top of the fifth inning on Saturday. The 25-year-old will undergo further testing, which will determine if Marsh is going to miss additional time. He is slashing .284/..369/.463 with eight home runs, 44 RBI, 41 runs, and six stolen bases over 101 games in 2023. Marsh is considered day-to-day. Johan Rojas replaced Marsh in Saturday's game. Rojas would see an uptick in playing time if Marsh were to miss any additional games.

Wed May 24 202312:27Brandon Marsh Back In Lineup, J.T. Realmuto Resting
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Brandon Marsh (shoulder) is back in the starting lineup on Wednesday against right-hander Zac Gallen and the Arizona Diamondbacks, starting in center field and batting eighth. Meanwhile, catcher J.T. Realmuto will take the day off. In his absence, Garrett Stubbs will do the catching while batting in the nine-hole. Marsh missed the last three games with right-shoulder inflammation, and he'll return in a very tough matchup against Gallen. The 25-year-old will return to a .262 average (34-for-130) with eight doubles, a league-high four triples, four home runs, 16 RBI and three steals in 45 games played. He's cooled off considerably, though, with just one hit and 11 strikeouts in his last 26 at-bats over 11 games. Fantasy managers should probably keep him on the bench for now.

Tue May 23 202317:43Brandon Marsh Scratched On Tuesday
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Brandon Marsh (shoulder) has been scratched from Tuesday's starting lineup versus the Arizona Diamondbacks. The 25-year-old didn't play on Monday due to a shoulder issue. It's unclear if his absence on Tuesday is for the same reason, but it's assumed that's why he has been pulled from the lineup. Regardless, Dalton Guthrie will take his place in center field and bat ninth versus righty Ryne Nelson. Fantasy managers will have to check back on Wednesday for another update on Marsh.

Mon May 15 202318:59Brandon Marsh Logs Another Start Versus A Lefty
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Brandon Marsh is making another start versus a left-handed pitcher as he takes on the Giants and southpaw Alex Wood Monday in San Francisco. Playing time has been plentiful for Marsh as his center-field platoon partner Cristian Pache is out with a knee injury that required surgery. It's been a big season for Marsh to this point the former Angels outfielder owns a .295 average with four homers, one stolen base, and a .955 OPS across 134 plate appearances on the season. However, Marsh has already endured some regression at the plate and his unsustainable .426 BABIP has nowhere to go but south moving forward. Nonetheless, he has been a factor near the bottom of the Phillies' lineup this season even if he doesn't hit for much home run power.

Tue Apr 25 202314:50Brandon Marsh Hitting Eighth Against Lefty
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Brandon Marsh is starting in center field and is batting eighth in the lineup on Tuesday against left-hander Marco Gonzales and the Seattle Mariners. Marsh has earned everyday playing time in Philadelphia this year by being scorching-hot at the plate early on. The 25-year-old left-handed hitter is currently batting .364 (24-for-66) with six doubles, a league-leading four triples, four home runs, 13 RBI, a stolen base and 14 runs scored in 21 games played. Marsh has even been good against lefties, going 6-for-19 with four doubles, two home runs and six RBI in 21 plate appearances against them. Fantasy managers should continue to roll with him while he's this hot.

Tue Apr 18 202312:51Brandon Marsh Hitting Fifth Again In Game 1
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Brandon Marsh is starting in center field and is hitting fifth in the lineup again in Game 1 of a doubleheader on Tuesday against the Chicago White Sox and right-hander Lance Lynn. Marsh has earned a higher lineup spot with the Phillies against right-handed pitchers by hitting an impressive .378 (17-for-45) with five doubles, a league-leading three triples, two home runs, 10 RBI, a stolen base and 10 runs scored in his first 14 games of the season. The 25-year-old left-handed hitter has now hit in the fifth spot in the batting order in four straight games, so this trend should continue as long as he continues to swing a hot bat. Fantasy managers will want to keep him in their starting lineups until he cools off.

Wed Apr 12 202314:44Brandon Marsh Back In Starting Lineup Wednesday
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Brandon Marsh will return to the starting lineup Wednesday versus the Miami Marlins. Marsh got a breather Tuesday night when left-hander Jesus Luzardo toed the rubber for Miami but returns to take on right-hander Edward Cabrera on Wednesday. Marsh has been scorching-hot to begin the young season as he's hitting a robust .407 with two homers, four doubles, two triples, one stolen base, and a 1.393 OPS across 30 plate appearances. The 25-year-old is hitting the ball hard but also owns a .474 BABIP that will decline steadily as the season moves along.

Tue Apr 11 202314:58Brandon Marsh Absent From Tuesday's Starting Lineup
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Brandon Marsh is not in Tuesday's starting lineup against the Miami Marlins and left-hander Jesus Luzardo. Recent trade acquisition Cristian Pache will get the start in Marsh's stead, hitting ninth against the emerging Marlins southpaw. The lefty-swinging Marsh will likely sit against tough left-handers throughout the season but is off to a white-hot start, hitting .385 with two homers, four doubles, two triples, one stolen base, and an eye-popping 1.352 OPS in 28 trips to the plate. While solid, his Statcast metrics aren't nearly as mind-blowing as his electric start to the season so exercising caution would be the prudent move moving forward.

Fri Apr 7 202312:08Brandon Marsh Back In Lineup Against Reds
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Brandon Marsh (ankle) is back in the starting lineup on Friday against right-hander Hunter Greene and the Cincinnati Reds. Marsh is starting in center field and hitting ninth in the batting order. The 25-year-old was scratched from the lineup on Wednesday and didn't have to miss a game at all after Thursday's contest was postponed due to inclement weather. There isn't a ton of fantasy upside, especially in DFS, with Marsh hitting at the bottom of Philly's lineup. The left-handed hitter has gone 5-for-15 (.333) with two doubles, a triple, a home run, two RBI and three runs scored in the early going, though, in his first four games of 2023.

Wed Apr 5 202313:04Brandon Marsh Scratched Due To Ankle Sprain
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Brandon Marsh (ankle) was scratched from Wednesday's starting lineup due to a mild left ankle sprain, according to the team. He's being considered day-to-day. Cristian Pache will make the start in center field and hit ninth in Marsh's place against the New York Yankees and right-hander Gerrit Cole. Marsh's injury doesn't sound serious, so he should be back in the team's lineup this weekend. The 25-year-old has gone 5-for-15 (.333) with two doubles, a triple, home run, two RBI and three runs scored in the first four games of 2023. Pache, who has struggled mightily at the plate early in his career, should be avoided against one of baseball's best strikeout artists on Wednesday.
