Sat Jul 15 202312:14Jared Young Takes A Seat Against Southpaw
Chicago Cubs rookie first baseman Jared Young is out of the starting lineup on Saturday against left-hander James Paxton and the visiting Boston Red Sox. In his absence, Trey Mancini will cover the cold corner and hit sixth in the batting order for the Cubbies. Young has played in only 17 major-league games in the last two seasons combined, and he's gone just 6-for-33 (.182) with a home run, two triples, five RBI, two stolen bases and seven runs scored in his first 11 games of this year. The 28-year-old left-handed-hitting Canadian has only had two at-bats against left-handers in the big leagues as well, so Chicago will continue to have him avoid southpaws on Saturday.

Fri Jun 30 202312:51Jared Young Starting At First Base Again
Chicago Cubs rookie first baseman Jared Young is getting another start at first base and will bat eighth in the lineup on Friday against right-hander Cal Quantrill and the Cleveland Guardians. It will be Young's second straight start at first base and third straight start overall. The 27-year-old left-handed hitter will only be playing in his ninth MLB game on Friday. In six contests this year, he's gone 2-for-6 with a homer, triple and two RBI for the Cubbies. In 52 games at Triple-A Iowa earlier this year, Young was slashing .326/.426/.605 with a 1.031 OPS, 13 homers, seven doubles, a triple, 45 RBI, four steals and 40 runs scored in 210 plate appearances. He appears to be in a platoon with Trey Mancini at first base for the time being.
