Fri Apr 1901:16Jarren Duran Swipes Seventh Base
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran filled up the stat sheet on Thursday, going 1-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and a stolen base in a 5-4 loss against the Cleveland Guardians. Duran hit a triple and walked, the latter of which led to his seventh steal of the season. As the leadoff man for Boston, Duran should have ample opportunity to steal bases and so far he's made the most of it. He is a great three-category contributor who will help fantasy teams with AVG, runs, and steals while providing the occasional homer. He should be rostered in most leagues.

Wed Apr 309:54Jarren Duran Swipes Another Base
After coming off a three-steal performance on Monday, Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran stole another base in Tuesday's victory versus the Oakland Athletics. He also went 2-for-3 with a run and RBI. Duran has been having a big series and has been off to a nice start for the Red Sox as he sits atop their batting order. For the young season, he is now hitting .292 with four runs, two RBI and six stolen bases. Duran hasn't homered yet, but he has the ability to hit 10+ in a season to go along with helping in the stolen base department. Managers should hold onto Duran as one of the premier base stealers in the league, but he can also help with runs and batting average. He should be rostered in most formats.

Sat Mar 1608:33Jarren Duran Has A Big Day At The Plate Friday
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran doubled his spring hit total in an 8-5 Grapefruit League win over the Twins on Friday. The 27-year-old came into the game with three hits, none for extra bases, and finished the game with three more hits which included a double and a home run. The lefty also had four RBI and two runs scored. He's yet to steal a base in Grapefruit League action but is now 6-for-21 (.286) in the spring and will look to build some momentum heading into the season. RotoBaller is bullish on the speedster, ranking him at 128 overall, well ahead of his 164 NFB ADP.

Tue Mar 518:30Jarren Duran To Play On Thursday
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran (foot), who was removed from Tuesday's Grapefruit League game early against the Tampa Bay Rays due to an apparent foot injury, is fine and will be back in the lineup on Thursday. "He's OK. His ankle is a little bit tight but that's it. He'll play on Thursday," manager Alex Cora said. The 27-year-old had surgery last year on a toe on the same foot he injured on Tuesday, so some people were fearing it was related to that injury. Turns out it wasn't, so Duran dodged a bullet and should be good to go for Opening Day. The left-handed-hitting outfielder broke out in his first full major-league season in 2023 by hitting .295/.346/.482 with an .828 OPS, eight home runs, 40 RBI and 24 steals in 102 games played. Duran has plenty of appeal as a No. 3 fantasy outfielder, but his power upside and on-base abilities are still question marks.

Thu Feb 2913:15Jarren Duran To Make Spring Debut Friday
Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora said that outfielder Jarren Duran (toe) will make his Grapefruit League debut on Friday as the designated hitter. The Red Sox are taking it slow with Duran after he had surgery last August to fix the flexor tendon in his left big toe, but he will make his debut heading into the weekend. If healthy, the 27-year-old will be an everyday starter in Boston's outfield after breaking out in 2023 before his toe injury. The left-handed hitter slashed .295/.346/.482 with an .828 OPS, eight home runs, 40 RBI, 24 stolen bases and 46 runs scored in 332 at-bats. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect too much, too soon, but Duran is at least an excellent source of speed as a No. 3 outfielder in mixed leagues for 2024.

Fri Feb 2312:45Jarren Duran To Be Held Out Of Games Initially
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran (toe) is not going to play in Grapefruit League games until March 1, as he's still recovering from his toe surgery last August in which he had the flexor tendon in his left big toe repaired. Duran is believed to be fully recovered from his surgery, but the Red Sox aren't going to push their starting outfielder early in spring training action. If the 27-year-old isn't starting in center field, which is unlikely, he'll be a starter in a corner-outfield spot for Boston in 2024. Duran should be ready to roll by Opening Day in late March. The former seventh-round pick improved drastically in 2023 with a .295/.346/.482 slash line with an .828 OPS, eight home runs, 40 RBI and 24 stolen bases in 102 games. The power might take more time to develop, but Duran is certainly worth rostering as your No. 3 outfielder due to his speed.

Fri Feb 1612:31Jarren Duran Expected To Hit Leadoff For Boston
Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora said that "if Jarren Duran is healthy, he's our leadoff guy." Duran impressed with a .295/.346/.482 slash line with an .828 OPS, eight home runs, 34 doubles, two triples, 40 RBI, 24 stolen bases and 46 runs scored in 362 trips to the plate and 102 games in his third big-league season with the BoSox in 2023, and he fared just fine against left-handed pitching as well. His season was cut short in late August when he needed surgery to fix a flexor tendon in his left big toe, but he's fully healthy in camp and will be ready for Opening Day. Duran might face some competition in center field from defensive wizard Ceddanne Rafaela, but even if Rafaela were to win the job, Duran would be a lineup regular in right field. Consider Duran a fine upside No. 3 outfield option in fantasy drafts.

Fri Feb 923:42Padres Showing Interest In Jarren Duran
The San Diego Padres have expressed interest in acquiring outfielder Jarren Duran from the Boston Red Sox, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post. While San Diego has engaged in discussions with Boston, they're not alone. Heyman notes that several other clubs have also reached out to the Red Sox. After a horrendous 2022 season, Duran had a major resurgence last year, slashing .295/.346/.482 with 24 stolen bases, a 120 wRC+, and 2.4 fWAR. He can also provide long-term contributions given that he's under team control through 2028. It's unclear whom Boston would target in return for Duran, but it's worth noting that the team faces an uphill battle to be competitive in the AL East this year. Therefore, the Red Sox could benefit from adding a package of prospects to bolster their farm system.

Tue Jan 1614:10Jarren Duran Fully Cleared For Spring Training
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran (toe) is fully cleared for spring training and won't have any limitations in camp. Duran had surgery to fix the flexor tendon in his left big toe in late August but should be fully healthy this spring and for the start of the 2024 regular season. The 27-year-old is expected to be Boston's starting center fielder this upcoming season after slashing a strong .295/.346/.482 with an .828 OPS, eight home runs, 40 RBI, 34 doubles, two triples, 24 stolen bases and 46 runs scored in 102 games in his third year in the big leagues. A full-on breakout in 2024 isn't out of the question for the speedy Duran, but his power and on-base skills still leave a lot to be desired. But if Duran can stay healthy all year, he should be a valuable contributor in all fantasy formats.

Wed Nov 8 202316:30Jarren Duran Doing Weight-Bearing Exercises
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran (toe) is doing weight-bearing exercises as he progresses in his rehab from a toe injury. Duran needed surgery on Aug. 30 to fix the flexor tendon in his left big toe and was unable to finish out the 2023 season with Boston. Barring any setbacks this winter, the 27-year-old should be ready to roll for spring training next year. Before his toe injury, Duran had the best season of his young MLB career, going 98-for-332 (.295) with a career-high eight home runs, 34 doubles, two triples, 40 RBI, 24 stolen bases and 46 runs scored in 362 plate appearances and a career-high 102 games played in his third season. He should be a big part of Boston's outfield picture once again in 2024.

Tue Aug 29 202316:36Jarren Duran To Have Season-Ending Surgery
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran (toe) will have season-ending surgery for his turf toe on Wednesday. It's a really tough blow for the Red Sox down the stretch and for fantasy managers that have been riding Duran's strong season all year long. He was given a walking boot on Aug. 23 after landing on the injured list, which was the first sign that his return wasn't imminent in Beantown. The 26-year-old left-handed slugger will finish his 2023 campaign with a strong .295/.346/.482 slash line, an .828 OPS, eight home runs, 40 RBI, 24 stolen bases and 46 runs scored in 332 at-bats. The Red Sox regular outfield will most likely be Masataka Yoshida in left, Adam Duvall in center and Alex Verdugo in right the rest of the way, but recently recalled outfield prospect Ceddanne Rafaela could also see some at-bats along the way down the stretch.

Fri Aug 25 202317:15Jarren Duran To See A Specialist Monday
Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora said that outfielder Jarren Duran (toe) will see a specialist on Monday. Duran was placed on the 10-day injured list this week after injuring his left toe last weekend against the New York Yankees. While it was initially expected to be more of a minor injury, the 26-year-old could now be forced to miss more than 10 days, depending on what he hears from the specialist on Monday. Duran deserves to be stashed in an IL spot in all fantasy leagues until he's back, as he's been very productive in 2023 with a .295/.346/.482 slash line, .828 OPS, eight home runs, 40 RBI, 24 stolen bases and 46 runs scored in 332 at-bats. Rookie outfielder Wilyer Abreu could continue to see occasional playing time until Duran is back.

Wed Aug 23 202318:54Jarren Duran Placed In Walking Boot
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran (toe) was recently placed on the 10-day injured list. The 26-year-old sprained his toe while climbing the wall during Sunday's contest. It appears he's going to miss an extended period of time after being placed in a walking boot on Wednesday. His absence should result in more playing time for Adam Duvall. Also, Wilyer Abreu could see more at-bats with Duran on the injured list.

Tue Aug 22 202312:05Jarren Duran Going On The Injured List
The Boston Red Sox will place outfielder Jarren Duran (toe) on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday, according to a source. In a corresponding move, the team is calling up outfield prospect Wilyer Abreu. Duran injured his left toe during Sunday's series finale against the New York Yankees and was set to undergo an MRI exam on Tuesday. With the 26-year-old on the shelf for at least the next 10 days, the Red Sox will likely go with a starting outfield of Masataka Yoshida in left, Adam Duvall in center and Alex Verdugo in right most of the time. In the meantime, Duran deserves to be stashed in an injured-list spot in all fantasy leagues, as he's hitting .295 (98-for-332) this year with eight home runs, 40 RBI, 24 stolen bases and 46 runs scored for Boston in 332 at-bats.

Tue Aug 22 202301:29Jarren Duran To Undergo MRI Exam Tuesday
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran (toe) will undergo an MRI exam on Tuesday. In the meantime, the Red Sox are considering calling up outfield prospect Wilyer Abreu, the team's No. 17 prospect, per MLB Pipeline. If Duran's MRI results don't look good, it's possible they'll put him on the injured list and call up Abreu. The 26-year-old has been plenty valuable in all fantasy leagues in his third MLB season in 2023, mainly for his speed, as he's slashing .295/.346/.482 with an .828 OPS, eight home runs, 40 RBI, 24 stolen bases and 46 runs scored in 102 games (362 plate appearances). Adam Duvall should be the team's regular center fielder until Duran is able to return. Abreu, a 24-year-old left-handed hitter, has hit .274 (82-for-299) with 22 long balls, 65 RBI, eight steals and 67 runs scored this year for Triple-A Worcester.

Mon Aug 21 202316:37Jarren Duran Still Hurting Monday
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran (toe) is not in the starting lineup on Monday for the series opener against the Houston Astros. Duran was pulled as a precaution on Sunday in the series finale against the New York Yankees due to a toe contusion. It's a day-to-day situation for Duran, who could be back in action as early as Tuesday's contest. Adam Duvall is playing center field and is batting fifth against Astros right-hander Cristian Javier. The 26-year-old Duran has broken out in his third year in the big leagues, slashing .295/.346/.482 with an .828 OPS, eight home runs, 34 doubles, two triples, 40 RBI, 24 stolen bases and 46 runs scored in an everyday role for Boston over 102 games.

Mon Aug 21 202312:00Jarren Duran Expected To Be Fine
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran (toe) is expected to be fine after leaving Sunday's game early against the New York Yankees with a toe contusion, according to sources. Duran's exit from the series finale in the Bronx was precautionary and no X-rays were needed. Nobody has been flown to Houston for this week's series against the Astros to be part of the taxi squad. Duran might not be in Monday's lineup against Houston, but he should be able to avoid a trip to the injured list. The 26-year-old has been great in 2023 with a .295 average (98-for-332) and 24 stolen bases, but he's also hitting just .192 (10-for-52) with two home runs, three doubles, five RBI, 13 strikeouts, a steal and five runs scored in 17 games (13 starts) so far in August.

Wed Aug 16 202316:17Jarren Duran Being Rested Against Southpaw
The Boston Red Sox will give outfielder Jarren Duran a day off on Wednesday with the team taking on Washington Nationals left-hander MacKenzie Gore. Rob Refsnyder will draw into the lineup in left field and will bat leadoff for Boston in Duran's absence. The 26-year-old left-handed-hitting Duran has been solid against lefties with a .289 average (13-for-45), but he has just one of his eight home runs against them in 2023. Overall, Duran has broken out in his third MLB season in Beantown, as he's slashing .297/.348/.488 with an .835 OPS, eight home runs, 33 doubles, two triples, 40 RBI, 23 stolen bases and 45 runs scored in 98 games and 348 plate appearances. He should be back in the team's starting lineup for the series finale on Thursday against the Nats.

Fri Aug 11 202317:23Jarren Duran Takes A Seat Against Lefty
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran is starting Friday's game against the Detroit Tigers on the bench with left-hander Tarik Skubal on the mound for Detroit. In Duran's absence, Rob Refsnyder will start in left field and bat leadoff for Boston in the series opener. Adam Duvall will shift to center field. Duran has been excellent for the BoSox in 2023 with his .300/.350/.495 slash line that also includes an .845 OPS, eight home runs, 40 RBI, 23 stolen bases and 44 runs scored in 313 at-bats. However, the 26-year-old left-handed hitter has struggled against southpaws of late and has six hits in 33 at-bats (.182) with two homers, two doubles, five RBI, eight strikeouts and three runs scored in nine games (eight starts) so far in the month of August. He could use a day off.

Mon Aug 7 202318:07Jarren Duran Hits The Bench Monday
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran is not in the starting lineup Monday night against the Kansas City Royals and left-hander Cole Ragans. Of course, it's hardly a surprise to see the lefty-swinging Duran hitting the bench against a southpaw pitcher but Rob Refsnyder, who will take over in center field and hit leadoff on Monday, has posted excellent figures versus lefties this season. Duran has still hit .286 with a .solid .731 OPS versus lefties this season but has excelled against righties, hitting .312 with seven homers, 30 doubles, two triples, 21 stolen bases, and an .883 OPS against opposite-handed pitching this season.
