Sat Apr 2714:51Parker Meadows Retreats To The Bench Saturday
Detroit Tigers outfielder Parker Meadows is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's contest against the visiting Kansas City Royals. The young outfielder's tough season continued with an 0-for-2 effort in Friday's series opener, although he was robbed of a home run by the Royals' Adam Frazier at the right field wall. Meadows has been a major disappointment for fantasy managers who took a chance on the 24-year-old in drafts this spring as he's hitting just .079 (5-for-63) with two homers, three steals, and a .400 OPS across 72 plate appearances. He has posted a 12.5% BB% and has been bitten by a tiny .127 BABIP but he has also struck out in a whopping 40.3% of his plate appearances. His elite defense in center field has kept him in the big leagues but it wouldn't be surprising to see the club option him to the minors if his disastrous start at the plate continues.

Thu Apr 1814:28Parker Meadows Plays Long Ball Wednesday
Detroit Tigers outfielder Parker Meadows slugged his first homer of the season on Wednesday in a 5-4 loss to the visiting Texas Rangers. It was a welcomed swing for the 24-year-old who has struggled mightily to begin the season. Following a big spring training, Meadows is now hitting just .077 (3-for-39) with a triple, a homer, and eight walks with a hefty 17 strikeouts across 47 trips to the plate. His excellent defense in center field has kept him in the lineup fairly regularly to begin the season but it's tough to see him sticking around in the big leagues if the bat can't turn around. He hit .232 with three homers and eight steals across 37 games in his MLB debut last season.

Mon Apr 1515:20Parker Meadows Resting Against Rangers
Detroit Tigers outfielder Parker Meadows is getting the day off on Monday with the team facing the visiting Texas Rangers. With Meadows out, Matt Vierling will start in center field for Detroit and bat fifth against Rangers right-hander Michael Lorenzen. This will be the second time in the last three games that Meadows will start on the bench against a right-handed pitcher. It makes sense, considering the 24-year-old is ice-cold to start the year. He's gone just 2-for-33 in the early going and may have to get going soon if he wants to maintain a regular role as the Tigers' center fielder. Vierling has never faced Lorenzen in his career but has gone 11-for-37 (.297) with a home run and four RBI in his first 12 games for Detroit in 2024.

Fri Apr 1215:45Parker Meadows Slides Down The Lineup Friday
Detroit Tigers outfielder Parker Meadows, originally the club's leadoff hitter to begin the season versus right-handed pitching, has been sent down to the eight-hole for Friday's contest against the Minnesota Twins and right-hander Pablo Lopez. Following a big spring training, Meadows has struggled out of the gate to begin the regular season, hitting just .080 without a homer alongside a pair of stolen bases across his first 32 trips to the plate on the season. Meadows' elite defense in center field has kept him in the starting lineup but fantasy managers might want to brace for a demotion to Triple-A of the bat doesn't perk up in short order.

Mon Apr 118:59Parker Meadows On The Bench Against Lefty
Detroit Tigers outfielders Parker Meadows and Kerry Carpenter are both on the bench on Monday with the team facing a left-hander. With Meadows and Carpenter on the bench, Matt Vierling will start in center field and bat leadoff, while Mark Canha will start in left field and hit fifth against New York Mets left-hander Sean Manaea. The 24-year-old Meadows started in all three of the team's first three games and went 1-for-10 with a triple and one run scored. Carpenter has been on the bench now for both games that the team has faced a southpaw, which will limit his fantasy appeal in mixed leagues after he impressed in 2023 with the Tigers. Jake Rogers is serving as Detroit's designated hitter on Monday in the series opener against New York.

Sat Mar 3011:17Parker Meadows Leading Off For Detroit Saturday
Detroit Tigers outfielder Parker Meadows is starting in center field and batting leadoff on Saturday as the team faces the Chicago White Sox and right-hander Michael Soroka. On Opening Day on Thursday against a left-hander, Meadows hit at the bottom of Detroit's batting order and went 0-for-3 with a strikeout to start the year. But now he's atop the lineup against a righty and could be quite valuable as outfield depth in mixed fantasy leagues this year if he sticks in that spot against righties. The 24-year-old had an impressive little run in his first taste of the big leagues last year and is an ascending talent in dynasty/keeper leagues. Meadows may not be a threat to hit more than 15-20 homers, but his outfield defense and speed should keep him in Detroit's lineup regularly.

Tue Mar 1210:47Parker Meadows Hitless Monday
Detroit Tigers outfielder Parker Meadows went 0-for-3 on Monday in a 5-3 Grapefruit League win over the Houston Astros. After starting the spring season 7-for-20 (.350), he's now 0-for-6 in his last two games and 7-for-26 overall (.269). Despite this little rough patch, included in his seven hits are two doubles and two home runs. Right now per Roster Resource, the 24-year-old is projected as the Tigers' leadoff hitter, which would be a boon to his potential fantasy stats, however, he was batting ninth in the order on Monday which would depress his value, so that's something worth keeping an eye on. He's currently going off draft boards late, around pick 289 per his NFBC ADP, but RotoBaller ranks him slightly higher at 269.

Sun Feb 413:20Parker Meadows Has A Chance To Be Detroit's Starting Center Fielder
Detroit Tigers outfielder Parker Meadows has a shot to open the year as the team's starting center fielder. The 6-foot-5 24-year-old appeared in 37 games down the stretch for Detroit last season and slashed .232/.331/.368 with three home runs, 13 RBI, and eight stolen bases over 125 at-bats. He flashed the leather in center field as well. Riley Greene (elbow), who underwent Tommy John Surgery in the offseason is going to shift to a corner outfield spot, with some designated hitter days mixed in, to ease him back into action after his elbow procedure. The emergence of Meadows, particularly on the defensive side, allows the Tigers to comfortably shift Greene, who started 2023 as the team's everyday center fielder. There's a chance that Meadows struggles in spring training or gets off to a slow start to begin the season but the job sounds like it is his to lose. He could be an intriguing late-round OF target, depending on where he slots into the Tigers' lineup.

The 23-year-old double sparked a rally in the third frame. He is just 31 games into his big-league career and carries a slash line of .212/.325/.333 in 99 trips to the plate. Meadows has also shown some speed on the base path with seven swiped bags in eight attempts.

Mon Aug 21 202316:10Parker Meadows Making MLB Debut Against Cubs
Detroit Tigers outfield prospect Parker Meadows is starting in center field and is batting sixth in his major-league debut on Monday against the visiting Chicago Cubs and right-hander Javier Assad. The team's No. 10 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, hit .256 (115-for-449) with 19 home runs, 27 doubles, seven triples, 65 RBI, 19 stolen bases and 78 runs scored in 113 games for Triple-A Toledo to earn his first call-up to the big leagues. The 23-year-old left-handed hitter is the younger brother of Tigers outfielder Austin Meadows, and he expected to play regularly down the stretch in Detroit. In at least deep-mixed fantasy leagues, he's worth picking up for his power-speed profile.

Mon Aug 21 202312:06Tigers Calling Up Parker Meadows
The Detroit Tigers will call up outfield prospect Parker Meadows from Triple-A Toledo on Monday, and he'll be making his major-league debut when he gets into a game. Meadows is the team's No. 10 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and he earns the call-up to the Show after hitting .256/.337/.474 with an .812 OPS, 19 home runs, 27 doubles, seven triples, 65 RBI, 19 stolen bases and 78 runs scored in 113 games for Toledo this year. The 23-year-old left-handed hitter should play fairly regularly in Detroit down the stretch, making him worth a pickup in deeper fantasy leagues for his power/speed combination. Meadows has the speed to play center field, but he's most likely to stick in a corner-outfield spot in the long term.
