Seattle Mariners relief pitcher Andres Munoz worked a scoreless ninth inning with a pair of strikeouts to earn the save in a 6-3 win over the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday. This was the 24-year-old's first save opportunity in the wake of the Paul Sewald trade and he got the job done without any issues. Munoz got Triston Casas to fly out and then punched out Reese McGuire and Connor Wong to slam the door and give the Mariners the victory. The closer job is now Munoz's to lose as the Mariners are right in the thick of the Wild Card race with two months of the regular season to go. It's worth noting that relievers Gabe Speier and Justin Topa worked the eighth inning together and both players could hold some fantasy value in leagues that count holds. Matt Brash also has some fantasy appeal in holds leagues but he tends to work in more high-leverage situations as opposed to a traditional setup role. For the season, Munoz owns a rock-solid 2.81 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and 36:12 K/BB ratio over 25 2/3 innings to go along with 12 holds and three saves.
