Tue Apr 200:55Victor Gonzalez Earns Save Monday
New York Yankees relief pitcher Victor Gonzalez earned his first save of the season in Monday's 5-2 win over the Diamondbacks. Gonzalez came in to pitch the bottom of the ninth inning up by three. He got the first out on a fly-out, gave up a ground-rule double, got the second out on a fly-out, and ended the game with a groundout. Clay Holmes has pitched in three of the team's first five and converted all three of his save opportunities, so he may not have been available for the save opportunity. The 28-year-old Gonzalez now has two career saves in four big-league seasons, so fantasy managers should not get too excited over this for now.

Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Victor Gonzlez has been recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City. Reliever Jake Reed was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

Mon May 9 202211:32Victor Gonzalez To Undergo Elbow Surgery
Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Victor Gonzalez (elbow), who was rehabbing in Arizona, will undergo minor left elbow surgery after experiencing discomfort in a bullpen session. The surgery is expected to remove debridement. The Dodgers were hoping that the 26-year-old reliever would be able to rejoin the bullpen sometime in May, but that won't happen now. We'll have a better idea of how much time Gonzalez might miss after is surgery, but the Dodgers may not have him available now until some point in the second half of the season. Gonzalez hasn't pitched in the majors yet this year.

NEW YORK (AP) — Gleyber Torres’ tying single in the ninth inning and winning infield single in the 11th helped the New York Yankees overcame Max Scherzer’s commanding 14-strikeout performance to beat the Washington Nationals 4-3 Saturday. Mon Oct 26 202000:31The Latest: Kershaw beats Rays again, gives LA Series lead
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — The Latest on Game 5 of the World Series (all times local): 10:40 p.m. Clayton Kershaw beat the Tampa Bay Rays for the second time in six days, escaping a fourth-inning jam with a quick reaction throw to cut down a runner trying for a rare steal of home plate, and the Los Angeles Dodgers held on for a 4-2 win Sunday night and a 3-2 World Series lead. With one more victory, the Dodgers would claim their first title since 1988. Mookie Betts and Corey Seager sparked a two-run first inning, and Joc Pederson and Max Muncy homered off long-ball prone Tyler Glasnow, whose 100 mph heat was no match. Kershaw was cruising when Dodgers manager Dave Roberts removed the 32-year-old left-hander in favor of Dustin May with two outs in the sixth inning. The mostly pro-Dodgers fans in the pandemic-reduced crowd of 11,437 booed when Roberts walked to the mound, well aware that closer Kenley Jansen wasted a ninth-inning lead in Saturday’s stunning 8-7 loss. May got five outs and Victor... [More]

Thu Oct 22 202011:49Parade of pitchers not a merry-go-round for Dodgers
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — More was not merrier for Los Angeles Dodgers pitchers. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts went with an opener against the team that invented the concept, sending Tony Gonsolin to start Game 2 of the World Series against the Tampa Bay Rays as the first of seven pitchers -- one shy of the record for a nine-inning Series game. By the end of the Dodgers’ 6-4 defeat Wednesday night, which evened the Series at one game apiece, it appeared the Dodgers are down to essentially a two-man rotation of Walker Buehler and Clayton Kershaw. Coming off games on seven straight days against Atlanta in the NL Championship Series under this year's unique postseason schedule, with just Monday's off-day, Roberts felt he had no rested alternative. “We didn’t have anybody that was on regular,” he explained. Seems like a throwback to the Boston Braves of Spahn and Sain and pray for rain, as Gerald V. Hern of the Boston Post poetically memorialized the pitching tandem of Warren Spahn and Johnny... [More]
