Wed Oct 25 202312:37Ryan Thompson Picks Up First Playoff Win In Game 7
Arizona Diamondbacks relief pitcher Ryan Thompson picked up his first career playoff win in the 4-2 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 7 of the National League Championship Series on Tuesday night. Thompson entered in the fifth inning to face left-handed slugger Kyle Schwarber and eventually went 1 1/3 perfect innings to pick up the win and help send the Diamondbacks to their first World Series appearance since 2001. The 31-year-old right-hander isn't a big strikeout guy but relies on soft contact on the ground to succeed. So far in this year's postseason, Thompson has allowed three earned runs on 10 hits while walking three and striking out eight in 10 2/3 innings out of Arizona's bullpen.

Mon Mar 6 202312:31Ryan Thompson Makes Spring Debut
Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Ryan Thompson (triceps) made his Grapefruit League debut on Sunday against the Baltimore Orioles and walked one in a scoreless inning of work in relief. Thompson ended the 2022 season on the 60-day injured list due to right triceps inflammation, but he's healthy now and should be just fine for the start of the 2023 season. Although the 30-year-old isn't much of a fantasy weapon, he was an integral piece of Tampa's bullpen last year before his injury and had a 3.80 ERA (3.42 FIP), 1.17 WHIP, three saves, 10 holds and a career-high 39 strikeouts in 42 2/3 innings over 47 appearances out of the bullpen.

Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Ryan Thompson tossed a scoreless inning to earn the save during Thursday's 3-1 win over the Texas Rangers. He entered the ninth inning to protect a 3-1 lead. Sun Apr 24 202216:18Ryan Thompson Gets The Save For Tampa Bay On Sunday
On Sunday, Tampa Bay Rays relief pitcher Ryan Thompson became the team's third reliever to record a save this year. He closed out the team's 5-2 victory over the Boston Red Sox by pitching a scoreless ninth inning. He retired each of the three batters he faced and recorded one strikeout. Andrew Kittredge, who leads the team with two saves, pitched a pair of innings on Saturday, so the team may have wanted to hold him out on Sunday. Thompson has been extremely effective so far this year. Over seven appearances and 6.1 innings, he has allowed four hits, two walks and no earned runs. Kittredge should still be considered the frontrunner for saves in Tampa Bay, but knowing the Rays, there will be save opportunities for Thompson and some others sprinkled in throughout the year.
