Seattle Mariners reliever Eduard Bazardo is behind in his throwing program this spring due to an undisclosed injury. The 28-year-old was acquired in a trade with the Baltimore Orioles last season after he was designated for assignment by the O's. He made 10 MLB outings between the two clubs and posted a 4.50 ERA and a 16.4% K-BB% across 16 innings of work. The right-hander spent much of his season at Triple-A Norfolk in the Orioles' organization where he worked to a quality 3.05 ERA across 27 outings while he also posted a 3.86 ERA across 10 appearances with Triple-A Tacoma in the Mariners' organization. Bazardo sports a 3.31 ERA across 26 outings in the big leagues but could open the season on the injured list.

The Boston Red Sox designated relief pitcher Eduard Bazardo for assignment on Thursday and claimed right-hander Jake Reed off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles in a corresponding move. Bazardo threw 16 1/3 innings for the Red Sox at the end of the season and had a 2.76 ERA (6.05 FIP), a 0.98 WHIP, 11 strikeouts and four walks in his 12 relief appearances. Reed spent time with the Orioles, New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers in 2022, posting a rough 7.02 ERA (5.09 FIP), a 1.50 WHIP, 13 strikeouts and eight walks in 16 2/3 innings pitched.
