Tigers reassigned LHP John Bale, RHP Chris Oxspring, Cs Rob Brantly, Bryan Holaday, John Murrian and Omir Santos, INF Brandon Douglas and OFs Avisail Garcia and Ben Guez to minor league camp. | ||||||
The only mild surprise in this bunch is Bale, who was signed out of Japan in December. He was competing for a job as a left-handed specialist this spring and actually did pretty well, at least superficially, posting a 3.38 and 2/2 K/BB ratio over eight innings of work. | ||||||

Tigers signed LHP John Bale to a minor league contract. | ||||||
Bale is coming off his second stint over in Japan. He last pitched in the majors in 2009 with Kansas City, posting a 5.72 ERA and 1.84 WHIP but 24 strikeouts over 28 1/3 innings. He'll likely compete with Brad Thomas for a spot as the second lefty out of the bullpen behind Daniel Schlereth. | ||||||
