Tue Apr 1619:07Eloy Jimenez In, Andrew Vaughn Out On Tuesday
Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez is back as the designated hitter and is batting third on Tuesday against the Kansas City Royals and right-hander Brady Singer, while first baseman Andrew Vaughn is getting the day off. Jimenez was activated from the injured list on Monday but wasn't in the starting lineup before getting a pinch-hit appearance later in the game. The White Sox are going to ease him back into the fold, but he could see more appearances in the outfield after starting there only 14 of 118 times in 2023. Vaughn has gone 1-for-16 in the last four games and 10-for-58 with no homers and three RBI to begin the year, so he's deserving of a rest. Gavin Sheets is at first base and is batting cleanup on Tuesday.

Wed Mar 1321:37Andrew Vaughn Cracks First Spring Home Run
Chicago White Sox first baseman Andrew Vaughn went 2-for-4 in Wednesday's 15-4 Cactus League rout of the Milwaukee Brewers, walloping a two-run home run during the second inning. Vaughn is still delivering a lukewarm start during the spring, batting .257 with a .689 OPS, one homer, and three RBI in 35 at-bats. It remains to be seen if the 25-year-old former No. 3 overall pick will finally put all his slugging potential together in 2024, but he's coming in at a very affordable 253.0 Yahoo ADP in fantasy drafts. After slashing .258/.314/.429 with 21 big flies, 30 doubles, and 80 RBI in 566 ABs as the everyday ChiSox first baseman a year ago, Vaughn should be considered something of a post-hype sleeper entering his fourth season in the major leagues.

Thu Jan 1114:43Andrew Vaughn, White Sox Settle At $3.25 Million
The Chicago White Sox and first baseman Andrew Vaughn have avoided arbitration with a one-year, $3.25 million deal for the 2024 campaign. The young slugger took over full-time duty at first base following the departure of Jose Abreu in the 2023 season and went on to hit .258 with 21 home runs and a .743 OPS across 615 trips to the plate. However, his subpar 5.9% BB% lowered his overall value at the plate as his 103 wRC+ registered just 3% above the league average. Nonetheless, it was the third straight season the former third-overall pick increased his home run total but he has still fallen below lofty expectations with 53 home runs across 413 big-league games, averaging 17.7 home runs per season across his first three big-league campaigns.

Sun Aug 20 202321:48Andrew Vaughn Records Three Hits Against Rockies
Chicago White Sox designated hitter Andrew Vaughn went 3-for-5 hitting a solo home run as the White Sox were victorious against the Rockies in Denver on Sunday. Vaughn made his mark early in the game, initiating the scoring with a 404-foot solo home run off Chris Flexen in the second frame. Later in the contest, he singled and crossed the plate during White Sox's seven-run surge in the eighth inning. The 25-year-old power hitter is now batting .253/.317/.430. During this year's campaign, he's cracked 16 home runs and logged 63 RBI in 430 at-bats.

Mon Aug 7 202318:18Andrew Vaughn Back In The Lineup Monday
Chicago White Sox first baseman Andrew Vaughn is back in the starting lineup Monday versus New York Yankees ace Gerrit Cole. The 25-year-old didn't start Sunday's series finale against the Cleveland Guardians but entered the game as a pinch-hitter, going 1-for-2 with a run scored and a strikeout as part of his club's 5-3 victory. Vaughn, in the midst of his third big-league campaign, is hitting .250 with 14 homers and a .747 OPS across 429 trips to the plate. While he's offered more power this season, his overall work at the plate has resulted in a small step back from his production as a sophomore in 2022, as evidenced by his 105 wRC+ this season versus a 113 mark from a season ago.

Tue Jul 25 202319:38Andrew Vaughn Playing Against Cubs
Chicago White Sox first baseman/outfielder Andrew Vaughn (foot) is back in the starting lineup on Tuesday against right-hander Kyle Hendricks and the visiting Chicago Cubs, starting at first base and batting sixth in the order. Vaughn will make his return for the Pale Hose after missing a week due to a bruised left foot. X-rays came back negative, though, and he avoided a trip to the injured list. The 25-year-old former first-rounder will attempt to pick things up offensively, as he's hitting only .188 (9-for-48) with no homers, a double, four RBI and four runs scored in 12 games in July. Vaughn hasn't cleared the fences since June 24, so perhaps fantasy managers will want to keep him on their benches until he gets back on track at the plate.

Sun Jul 23 202310:44Andrew Vaughn Seeks To Return On Tuesday
Chicago White Sox manager Pedro Grifol considers it a "best-case scenario" for first baseman Andrew Vaughn (foot) being able to return for Tuesday's Crosstown Series opener with the Chicago Cubs. Vaughn's foot is reportedly still bothering him, but the ChiSox don't believe he'll need to go on the injured list at this stage. The 25-year-old has been out of action since Tuesday after fouling a ball off his foot versus the New York Mets. With Vaughn likely out for Sunday's series finale vs. the Minnesota Twins, he'll have another day of rest with no game scheduled on Monday. The former No. 3 overall pick is batting .244 with a .738 OPS, 12 home runs, 54 RBI, and 43 runs scored in 353 at-bats this year.

Sat Jul 22 202316:39Andrew Vaughn To Miss Fourth Straight Game
Chicago White Sox outfielder/first baseman Andrew Vaughn (foot) will be sidelined for the fourth straight game on Saturday. He fouled a ball off his foot on Tuesday and hasn't been able to play since then. The X-rays came back negative, so hopefully Vaughn won't require a trip to the injured list. Yasmani Grandal will cover first base and bat fifth versus right-hander Sonny Gray on Saturday. Fantasy managers will have to check back on Sunday for another update on Vaughn.

Fri Jul 21 202316:53Andrew Vaughn Still Out Friday
Chicago White Sox outfielder/first baseman Andrew Vaughn (foot) remains out of the team's lineup on Friday against the Minnesota Twins. Gavin Sheets is making the start at first base and is hitting seventh in the batting order against Twins right-hander Joe Ryan. X-rays came back on Vaughn's injured foot, but he'll still miss his third straight game this week as he recovers. For now, consider the 25-year-old to be day-to-day. Hopefully, he'll be able to return to the diamond for the Pale Hose on Saturday. The former first-rounder has yet to homer in July and is hitting .188 (9-for-48) with a double, four RBI, 15 strikeouts and four runs scored in 12 games this month. Once he does return, fantasy managers may want to keep him out until he shows signs of life at the plate.

Thu Jul 20 202312:06Andrew Vaughn Going For X-Rays On Foot
Chicago White Sox outfielder/first baseman Andrew Vaughn (foot), who is out of the starting lineup for the second straight day on Thursday against the New York Mets, is getting an X-ray on his left foot, according to manager Pedro Grifol. "We're not anticipating anything wrong but he was pretty sore," Grifol said. Vaughn hasn't played since fouling a ball off his foot on Tuesday, but it looks like he has avoided a serious injury and should be considered day-to-day heading into the weekend series against the Minnesota Twins, which begins on Friday. Zach Remillard is making the start at the hot corner on Thursday and is hitting seventh against Mets left-hander Jose Quintana. Vaughn is currently hitting .244/.316/.422 on the year with 12 homers, 54 RBI and 43 runs scored in 353 at-bats.

Wed Jul 19 202315:18Andrew Vaughn Taking A Seat Wednesday
Chicago White Sox first baseman Andrew Vaughn is on the bench to start Wednesday's game against the New York Mets and right-hander Justin Verlander. It's been a solid season for the 25-year-old as Vaughn has slugged 12 homers along with a .738 OPS across 94 appearances on the campaign. However, Vaughn has endured a miserable month of July, hitting just .188 with a .412 OPS for the month while failing to draw a single walk in his 48 trips to the plate. The former first-round pick will get a chance to reset on Wednesday while Gavin Sheets takes over at first base, hitting out of the six-hole in New York.

Thu Jun 29 202302:24Andrew Vaughn Trending Up, Laces Two Doubles
Chicago White Sox first baseman Andrew Vaughn finished 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run scored in Wednesday's 11-5 victory against the Los Angeles Angels. The 25-year-old recorded his first multi-RBI game since May 30 in this one, emptying the bases on a fourth-inning double into the left-center gap. Vaughn is starting to heat up at the dish, hitting .333 with three homers and eight RBI over his previous 33 at-bats. The 2019 No. 3 overall pick is yet to fully live up to those expectations, but remains an adequate source of fantasy power numbers. Vaughn is slashing .249/.329/.447 with 12 home runs and 49 RBI across 295 at-bats in 2023.

Thu May 25 202315:22Andrew Vaughn Down To .213 Average In May
After a promising April where Chicago White Sox first baseman Andrew Vaughn hit .255 with three home runs and 20 RBI, he's been in a slump for most of May. Vaughn added 13 walks, giving him a .358 on-base percentage in April, but he's walked only five times this month. With his .213 average and five walks in May, Vaughn has a .264 on-base percentage for the month entering play Thursday night. He'll look to get it going at the plate in a four-game road series against the Detroit Tigers, though Vaughn has just one home run away from Guaranteed Rate Field this season.

Mon May 1 202310:25Andrew Vaughn Blasts Walk-Off Homer
Chicago White Sox first baseman/outfielder Andrew Vaughn went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer and a walk in Sunday's 12-9 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. The White Sox were down 9-5 heading into the ninth frame. Chicago rallied back in the ninth by scoring seven runs, capped off by Vaughn's three-run blast. The former first-round pick is off to a slow start in 2023, slashing .255/.358/.434 with three homers, 20 RBI, 12 runs, and a 13:24 BB: K over 123 plate appearances. Vaughn is starting to get hot at the plate, collecting a hit in five straight games with a .333/.417/.667 slash line over his last 24 plate appearances. Fantasy managers should continue to roll with Vaughn while he's wielding a hot bat.

Fri Mar 31 202318:48Andrew Vaughn Sitting On Friday
Chicago White Sox first baseman/outfielder Andrew Vaughn (rest) is out of the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Houston Astros. The 24-year-old has certainly earned the right to start everyday. On Thursday, Vaughn hit a two-run double in the ninth inning to help the White Sox get the win. Possibly, manager Pedro Grifol just wanted to get Gavin Sheets some reps. Hopefully, Vaughn sitting out doesn't become a routine thing this season.

Thu Mar 23 202313:25Andrew Vaughn To Play In Minor-League Game Friday
Chicago White Sox first baseman/outfielder Andrew Vaughn (back) will play in a minor-league game on Friday. Vaughn has been out of Cactus League action for the last week due to lower back soreness, but as long as he doesn't suffer a setback, he should be ready to go on Opening Day on March 30. The 24-year-old slugger should move back to his natural position at first base in 2023 with Jose Abreu now in Houston. He's held his own in his first two major-league seasons with the White Sox, hitting a combined .255/.315/.414 with a .730 OPS, 32 home runs, 124 RBI and 116 runs scored in 1,024 plate appearances and 261 games.

Sun Mar 19 202316:09Andrew Vaughn Took Grounders On Sunday
Chicago White Sox first baseman Andrew Vaughn (back) was able to take ground balls and play catch on Sunday. The 24-year-old is working his way back after dealing with lower back soreness over the last few days. The hope is that Vaughn will get back to swinging a bat soon, but the team isn't going to push him this late in spring. The team could very well give him a few more days off before they try getting Vaughn back into the swing of things. The expectation is that Vaughn is going to be ready in time for Opening Day.

Sat Mar 18 202316:43Andrew Vaughn Day-To-Day With Sore Back
Chicago White Sox first baseman/outfielder Andrew Vaughn (back) is considered day-to-day, says manager Pedro Grifol. Vaughn has a sore lower back and will rest for a few more days. Vaughn was 10-for-31 (.323) during spring games so far, so the injury comes at a somewhat inopportune time for the youngster. The former third-overall pick is looking to build on a solid 2022 season and was showing well this spring. Hopefully, the few days off are all Vaughn needs, and it won't become a more significant issue. It shouldn't affect his draft position right now. He is currently going 142nd in upcoming fantasy drafts and is the 142nd-ranked player on RotoBaller. If Vaughn is back in the lineup in a couple of days, draft as you would.

Fri Mar 10 202317:29Andrew Vaughn Doubles, Continues Hot Spring
Chicago White Sox outfielder Andrew Vaughn went 2-for-3 with a double during Friday's Cactus League game versus the Chicago Cubs. Vaughn has nine hits in nine games for the White Sox so far this spring, but only two of them have gone for extra bases. Nonetheless, Vaughn looks locked in at the plate right now, hitting .360 for the spring. Vaughn has walked twice compared to four strikeouts in spring training. Vaughn has been hitting second or third for the White Sox in Cactus League play and should hit in the heart of the order this season. Vaughn projects to take another step forward in his age-25 season and looks like a fine option for your fantasy squad this year.

Thu Sep 15 202217:40Andrew Vaughn Goes Yard Thursday
Chicago White Sox outfielder/first baseman Andrew Vaughn joined in on the fun when his team clubbed five home runs in Thursday's 8-2 win over the Cleveland Guardians, going 1-for-3 with a solo homer of his own. It was his 16th this season, and he now has 69 RBI and 57 runs over 119 games. Vaughn has more power than he's shown thus far in his career, but the sophomore has displayed his hitting ability, batting .290. There hasn't been much talk of the 24-year-old, but his numbers look good in any fantasy lineup.
