Mon Oct 30 202316:20Vinny Nittoli Agrees With A's
Free-agent right-hander Vinny Nittoli agreed to an undisclosed deal with the Oakland Athletics that includes an invitation to spring training next year, according to sources. Nittoli was recently non-tendered by the New York Mets after he allowed an earned run with no walks and three strikeouts in 3 2/3 relief innings at the major-league level in 2023. The 32-year-old veteran has pitched with the Seattle Mariners and Philadelphia Phillies in the last two years, but he only has 6 2/3 innings pitched in the big leagues and will be competing for a spot on Oakland's roster in spring training. At Triple-A Iowa and Triple-A Syracuse in 2023, Nittoli had a 4.64 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, one save, 20 walks and 47 strikeouts in 42 2/3 innings over 35 outings (two starts).

The New York Mets acquired right-hander Vinny Nittoli from the Chicago Cubs on Friday, according to a source. Nittoli was in limbo after opting out of his minor-league deal on Thursday, but he'll now head to the Mets' 40-man roster and can be optioned. The 32-year-old had posted a 3.48 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, seven walks and 22 strikeouts in 20 2/3 relief innings over 16 outings out of the bullpen for Triple-A Iowa this year. He's made only three relief appearances in the big leagues for the Seattle Mariners and Philadelphia Phillies in the last two seasons, allowing two runs on one hit (a homer) while walking three and striking out two in three frames. Nittoli will likely be reporting to Triple-A Syracuse.

The Chicago Cubs signed veteran right-hander Vinny Nittoli to a minor-league deal on Thursday that includes an invite to major-league spring training. He will earn $775,000 in the big leagues or $162,000 in the minors. The 32-year-old pitched in just two games for the Philadelphia Phillies in 2022 and also in the minors for the New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays. Wed Aug 31 202211:26Phillies Acquire Vinny Nittoli From Blue Jays
The Philadelphia Phillies acquired right-handed reliever Vinny Nittoli from the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday, and they plan to add him to their major league roster when rosters expand on Thursday, according to sources. It's unclear what Toronto received in return. Nittoli planned to opt out of his minor league deal on Wednesday, but the Blue Jays decided to trade him first. The 31-year-old has posted a 3.30 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, 59 strikeouts, two saves and 14 walks in 46 1/3 innings pitched in 32 outings (four starts) with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Triple-A Buffalo in the minors this year. He won't be much of a fantasy asset down the stretch, but he'll give the Phillies some extra bullpen depth as they look to earn a wild-card spot.
